Who's awake? And why?

I can't sleep.

Life has been exhausting the last few weeks for numerous reasons, health, work, my son's MH, teenagers. Insomnia.

I'm missing my DP a lot tonight, he works away. Has been gone for 4 weeks and he could be gone for another 4 weeks. He could be gone for another 8 weeks.

Why are you awake?

I left my bedroom window open and the rain woke me up. Then I started thinking about work, have to go to NY next week and am thinking about the travel, the presentation and just in a worry loop. Have been awak for about a hour so have given up now and am mumsnet ting as I’ve misplaced my kindle

Because I stay up late to talk to dp after he finishes work at midnight but he’s disappeared. This happens usually because he’s gone for a drink and knows I’ll be annoyed but I’m only actually annoyed because he disappears rather than tell me he’s having a drink to wind down which wouldn’t actually bother me.

So now he’s probably got home and is well asleep by now and I’m too annoyed to sleep

Fell asleep in front of the tv at about 8.30 pm as exhausted from a very busy week so far. Now paying the price, but as my user name suggests, this is not unusual for me. About to put headphones in and listen to a few podcasts as that helps me to drift off ( sometimes!)
Sympathy for those awake and worrying about health and other issues.
And to the poster who’s just lost her Mum, I’m sorry, it’s so very hard.
I still really want to talk to my Mum sometimes and it’s been more than 10 years since she died.

Am awake because I was diagnosed with cancer (second time) last week and am seeing consultant tomorrow to see if there's anything they can do. I know it's bad news, I don't know how bad

Worried about D14s health and also I slept on and off through the day as off sick from work with a virus.Woke up at 2am.Now googling symptoms for DD and making it worse.

Nothing serious, just being driven crazy by a new puppy destroying my house.

My mum died the day before yesterday. So he was so lovely but it was devastating because she had dementia towards the end and simply couldn't understand she was unwell..

Hugs to all those under various types of stress and worries. It's good to read the more mundane reasons to remember life goes on.

Husband away on business and cat walking all over me at 2.00am. wanting feeding. Now rain keeping me awake.
I'm going back to bed soon as no work tomorrow 🙂

I feel grateful after reading this thread. I'm up because I'm sick with covid, which is so minor in comparison. Have to WFH tomorrow no matter how I feel.

Hugs to anyone having a rough time and hello to
the new puppy.

I woke up full of nervous excitement. My team have been nominated for an award and I think we might be in with a chance so I’ve been self indulgently thinking about an acceptance speech - which I will totally regret at work tomorrow when I’m exhausted and reality kicks in.

My 8 week old is unwell after his vaccinations and has been awake all last night and tonight. Just projectile vomited all my the bed!

Just as I was about to have an exhausted cry on the way down to the sofa he’s just started smiling at himself in the mirror so all feels a bit better now!

So sorry your having to go through this @Tilllly and @scoobydoo1971. I hope you get some sleep and some better news. Thinking of everyone dealing with stress. My mum has dementia and called 999 four times last night saying her carers were torturing her. So hard for them and worrying that her dementia is just making her scared.

Woke at 3 am as I'm going to Filia in Glasgow Just at the train station now. I could have got up a bit later but I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep.

Should arrive in Glasgow just after 9 am and will be hunting down a suitably sized Scottish breakfast on arrival

36 weeks pregnant and really bloody uncomfortable, I've been awake since 3.45 and my toddler will be up in an hour.

Fell asleep at 10pm which is very early for me, so ended up waking up earlier too…also think rain and the cold in my bedroom helped wake me up.

Had to get up at 3:30 to take dd to school as they're off on a school trip. Had to take baby Ds with me, he didn't wake up at all bless him ❤️ so he's back in bed with dp and dd2 and I can't get back to sleep..
