Is the heating on yet?

Just that. I have never left it off so long before, but we have had a renovation and it is all heavily insulated. I don't know if it is us or if it is just warm.

Have you put yours on?

It’s 18 degrees here today, no

Pascha · 13/10/2023 07:59

We really have felt any need so far but I see temps are due to drop to lowish single figures overnight this weekend so I think we might light the stove and see from there.

Going forward we might just set it for early mornings for now and judge the evenings each day.

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 13/10/2023 08:02

Nope. I’m in suffolk and was wearing summer clothes the first part of this week.

cheeseandsaladcreamtoastie · 13/10/2023 08:07

Yes I'm cold unless it's 22 indoors. Thyroid issues. North east.

McIntire · 13/10/2023 08:10

No central heating or heated flooring on but I did chuck a couple oh logs in the wood burner last night

RampantIvy · 13/10/2023 08:10

Ours comes on when the temperature dips below the setting we have on the thermostat. ie when it is cold enough and not by some arbitrary calendar date.

So, yes, it has come on a couple of times in the morning. The forecast for Monday night is -1, so no doubt it will come on the next morning.

soupweather · 13/10/2023 08:11

In Scotland at home yes.

On holiday in the Channel Islands no, it’s bloody roasting.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 13/10/2023 08:13

No, our house is a new build and still 19° even though it was 3° outside yesterday morning. It does feel a bit chilly to me and I’m the good old days we’d have had it on a bit but not anymore!

ChienneDesFromages · 13/10/2023 08:17

It’s not crossed my mind to put the heating on yet. I’m in tights today for the first time this autumn.

This weekend I’ll do the autumn bits and pieces to make our snug cosy (candles, fairy lights, blankets, velvet cushions out). Then I’ll consider switching the Aga on if it gets nippy. That should be fine until the end of November, unless we get a really cold spell.

Gamerlady · 13/10/2023 08:21

Not cold enough yet, once temp drops to 11 degrees I'll put it on. House currently sits at 17

RampantIvy · 13/10/2023 08:24

I think I must be in a minority on mumsnet to think that candles are only for power cuts Grin

itsmyp4rty · 13/10/2023 08:26

Currently 21 degrees in the house so no. But looks like the temperatures are going to drop away this weekend so it won't be long.

MaryGreenhill · 13/10/2023 08:28

Am in SEWales and not felt the need for any heating yet but saying that, if the weather forecast is correct it will be going on tomorrow evening.

Musiclover234 · 13/10/2023 08:31

Not sure which Manchester the PP was in where everyone was in T-shirts but max temp was 13 degrees! It was only 7 when I went to work. I was in a coat!

Our heatings not clicked on yet, tested it for an hour last week. But I’d say the house temp is dropping so it will probably be on next few days. We stretched to November but got mild mould on wall in our bedroom so won’t be doing that again. We have credit built up and only put it on a few hours a day anyways

Stroopwaffels · 13/10/2023 08:34

Bit early for a competitive under-heating thread isn't it? Usually it gets to about the second week of December before people start on about how mild it is and how they are sweltering in their houses.

If you've seen the weather forecasts over the last week or so you will have noticed that although the southern bit of England has had temperatures higher than average, in Scotland it's been colder than average. Single figure temperatures. So yes, the heating is on for a bit in the morning, and again in the evening.

Yep, to dry DSS's washing..all he wears are hoodies and joggers and I can never get them dry without smelling.

Get yourself a meaco 20L dehumidifier. Will dry those bad boys in a day.

User1748953 · 13/10/2023 08:37

We have the heating on each evening, we live fairly south near Bedford, it has been warm in the day but not so much in the evenings. I normally have it on if it goes below 18 in the day and 19 in the evening as it feels chilly

Poniesandrainbows · 13/10/2023 08:39

Not even considered it. It's 21 degrees here today.

OccultOctopus · 13/10/2023 08:41

It'll click on when it gets cold enough.

I strongly suspect with lows of 1-2c predicted for this weekend, it'll happen sometime in the next day or so.

User1748953 · 13/10/2023 08:43

We are away next week so I imagine the house will get quite chilly, I will probably need to put it on before we get home next weekend.

Beezknees · 13/10/2023 08:46

No. It's 17 degrees here today. I've got the windows open, my flat gets warm. It's set to drop this weekend so I'll see how we feel then.

MammaTo · 13/10/2023 09:07

Yeah for an hour of a morning for a few weeks now to take the chill off - also sometimes of a night if I’ve got washing that needs drying.

Purplecatshopaholic · 13/10/2023 09:08

Hell yes. Central Scotland and it’s Baltic

Dogon · 13/10/2023 09:08

Haven't felt the need to yet. We are in a mid-terrace, so keeps warmer than other properties.

waterlego · 13/10/2023 09:14

We don’t usually put ours on until end Oct and this year will be no exception as it’s especially warm at the moment where we are on the south coast (England). Lots of people are still swimming in the sea and people are out and about in T shirts.
