Does anyone else’s family have a “birthday month”?

FirstFallopians · 09/10/2023 10:33

Off the back of a lovely pregnancy/ due date announcement in DH’s family.

In my family, out of the 9 of us, 6 of us were born in late September or October.

DH’s family have something similar in his bigger family, with 9 birthdays (and now one due date) every March.

Are we alone in our families weirdly grouping their conceptions together?

September for us too. 9 birthdays in total - 4 share one date and 3 share another

WonkyBricks · 09/10/2023 10:36

December for us, up to 7 birthdays now 😭😭😭

Hedjwitch · 09/10/2023 10:37

September is common for births....9 months after Christmas/ New Year!

Our wider family has a clutch of birthdays in January. Expensive time of year. Grrrr

April and June. Spring is busy and expensive...

Nw22 · 09/10/2023 10:41

yes august and October for my family and my husbands

spurs4ever · 09/10/2023 10:41

December unfortunately! The rest are fairly even x

NewForestMum123 · 09/10/2023 10:43

6/8 of my parents grandchildren are born 6 weeks apart (across 8 years, but you know what I mean). They also have two children and both of their birthdays are in that time. Mine isn’t but it isn’t far off. All end of May through to early July.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 09/10/2023 10:47

My brother and my son have a day between their birthdays. My grandad's birthday was on the day in between, but he's been dead a long time. He'd have loved that, though.

An acquaintance has her mum's, husband's and both daughter's birthdays in December. Expensive month.

BearSoFair · 09/10/2023 10:50

September for us too. Me, my Mum, DS2, one niece, and on DH's side BIL, another niece, and late FIL.

ShellySarah · 09/10/2023 10:52

You don't group conceptions together? Surely once it's so removed between your siblings and your children it's just happenstance?

A mix of different months for us.

Badaba · 09/10/2023 10:54

January ☠️

Chypre · 09/10/2023 10:55

November here, proper scorpios nest....

SorryWorry · 09/10/2023 10:55

Yes, we have eleven birthdays in 17 days! Four of those are immediate family the rest are nieces, nephews and uncles.

Mrburnshound · 09/10/2023 10:56

Yes! We did a family calendar, lpts of konths are blank and then everyone squeezed into a 6 weel period!

DappledThings · 09/10/2023 10:57

It's not just families though. I was in DS's classroom recently and there was a calendar on the wall with everyone's birthdays on. Two big clumps and then big gaps. Can't remember where the clumps were now but it was far from the even pattern I would have expected.

Underneaththestars · 09/10/2023 10:59

October for us! In fact most of autumn is busy!

LadyOfACertainAge · 09/10/2023 11:02

Completely opposite in mine. Of my parents 9 grandchildren and great grand children there are 9 different months. Add in me and my two siblings and you cover 11 months (so only one overlap). November is the only empty month.

evtheria · 09/10/2023 11:04

Spring - Apr/May 😮‍💨

EfficientlyDecluttering · 09/10/2023 11:11

Yes, in my extended family on my father's side (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins) over a quarter of us were born in the same month, my nan used to have all our birthdays on a year planner in her kitchen when I was growing up. One of my DCs is the same month too.

BerriesPineCones · 09/10/2023 11:17

I know someone who successfully planned for her kids to be oldest in the year. Probably more September/October birthdays in England and Wales for this reason.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/10/2023 11:25

In my immediate family- two sets of grandparents, my parents and me- five out of seven are in the same week in one month, including three on the same day!

DramaAlpaca · 09/10/2023 11:27

February and October here

Minikievs · 09/10/2023 11:37

June. I hate it. Every year it gives me the rage.
Of 6 family members, 4 have June birthdays. And then Father's Day too.
Everyone in my family laughs at me for being annoyed. But I'm the only one that gets stung with everything.

Desecratedcoconut · 09/10/2023 11:39

Four out of the five of us in this house are withing a fortnight of one another. Then we have a father's day chaser.

Mine is the last birthday in the run too. So even though I'm he one doing all the running around by the time we get to that point nobody can see any appeal in another birthday cake and round of happy birthday.
