Anyone else have a child who cries before school every day? What did you do?

Dd cries before school almost every day. And, before bed, she cries then about going to school the next day too. It isn’t bullying. It isn’t anything worrying. It’s because she doesn’t like it there.

I do not know what to do. I am making appointments at open days of other schools (private) in the hope that might help? But could it? Or will it just be the same thing somewhere else?

What did others do?

right here. every single day of nursery. we moved him to another setting to see if it changes. nope. still got tears every single day. same in reception too lol reward chart used to help a little - but negotiations were ongoing daily about not wanting to go to school. sorry to be bearer of bad news…

Think carefully before you move her, give it time seek help ask to visit etc etc dont let her see its upsetting you if you move her and the same happens again then what?

Yes! Could she be neuro divergent - dyslexic, autistic, adhd? This is a really common reason for school refusal and turned out to be the case for my daughter. The school did their best to help but I had to keep on at them. She is enjoying secondary a bit better.

I took mine out.

The only thing I did wrong was waiting until she was 12. I should have done it when she was much younger as she had years of trauma that we could have avoided of only I knew and understood her, the school system and the freedom of home education.

Or it could be that she finds the school environment distressing and dysfunctional.

Very common with the way schools are these days.

Yes very true! The whole system needs a complete overhaul!

This comment just proves why children.. clearly with needs shouldn’t be in a mainstream school with un educated teachers.
