I'm currently on mat leave and we've started having a bit of cbeebies. Some of it is great - Bluey, Bing, Mr Tumble etc. Is anyone else driven mad by some though??

So when I'm director general of the BBC, Yakka Dee is getting yakka'd out the window, Cocomelon is getting on their bloody bus and sodding off and we're falling out of love with Love Monster.

Anyone else want a rant? not enough tea this morning

Oh and Peppa is banned here but I have a strong suspicion she watches it at Nanas house.

evtheria · 12/10/2023 10:31

@PlusOneTwoThree I was a kid when the Power Rangers first came out, so have a soft spot for it. I can't keep track of all the series/versions, but was glad to see it was still as ridiculous and cheesy (the villain costumes!) as ever when DS watched it. Any kids show that's this self-aware is alright with me 🤣

ClawedButler · 12/10/2023 10:41

I call them "Autopsy and Dim"

I have an irrational hatred for Bing, the fat idiot. And his stupid friend Pando - why does he take his shorts off when he gets to the park? WHY??

Peppa Pig teaches children that if you have a cough, you can phone a doctor direct, and they'll come to your house straight away. This is clearly over-promising, certainly in a post-COVID era.

Ireallywantsomechips · 12/10/2023 12:08

Bing and Waffle for sure!!

It’s the voice for Waffle that creeps me out!

PinkyDinkyDoodle · 12/10/2023 14:23

My children are older now, and just listen to the awfulness that is YouTube.

I loved Peppa Pig. And ITNG. And Ben and Holly.

Dora the f*%€ing Explorer, however, deserves to be consigned to the special pit of Hell reserved for those who have driven parents distracted. Barney the Dinosaur would be there too. And the Barbie cartoons, Zingzillas and Tweenies.

I'd forgotten about the Zingzillas! DH and I joked they were unevolved Tweenies!

My grandson and I used to shout at the TV at Pando and tell him to keep his shorts on, and tell the green thing to stop enabling him. Bright little bugger that my grandson is, when his mum did something similar, like carrying his bag or something, he looked her straight in the eye and said "mummy you're enabling me". Oh I laughed.

My granddaughter is told we don't have Peppa pig on our TV as its a different TV from mummy and daddy's. Good.

Strokethefurrywall · 12/10/2023 16:41

Thank God mine are 12 & 9 now but I can't hear the theme tune to Peppa Pig without wanting to smash something. Fucking bratty little shit bag.

I'm so pleased I don't have to listen to kid themes anymore, although it's been replaced by YouTube shit where people say things like "emotional damage" on repeat...

foulksmills · 12/10/2023 16:46

@Strokethefurrywall do your kids watch that "Dang it!" lady on You Tube? Amy Whoaa, I think. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me now.

"Dang it"
"I don't like today"
"I'm a burrito"

🥲🔫

Strokethefurrywall · 12/10/2023 19:37

Ooh I don't know, I'm not familiar with her "work" 😂
We live overseas so they're mostly into US based YouTubers, Mr Beast and his insightful contributions to society among others.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 12/10/2023 19:50

Bing is a little shit. Peppa ditto. But paw patrol is the one that I would ban from the house because there's just no storyline. It felt like it was created to sell toys.

Nagado · 12/10/2023 20:23

I’m trying very hard to indoctrinate a two year old into dvds of Willow the Wisp, Top Cat and Bugs Bunny but the little bugger isn’t having any of it. DH has just bought Thundercats to see if he has more luck.

Fortunately his DM has banned Peppa but there’s one about a dolls house that comes alive at night with a clown that has Cheerios for eyes. Not sure if it’s the same programme but there’s also a Mr Onions. Those are enough to give a child nightmares. And that sodding Robert that lives with Justin!

I’ve grown curiously fond of Cocomelon. The first time I saw it, I was horrified. But it has a strangely hypnotic effect on both of us and I often find myself singing Oopples and banoonoos to distract him when we’re having a difference of opinion over whether something is edible or not.

CowboyJoanna · 12/10/2023 20:29

God I have a love/hate Bluey...

It's basically a show about a cool jack the lad Aussie dad dragging up raising his kids like he's a kid himself, with some funny moments and shoehorned parental pandering along the wayGrin

CowboyJoanna · 12/10/2023 20:32

"Cheerios for eyes" Grin
I think that show you mean is Moon and Me

My youngest was terrified of that when it first aired on TV, she used to run behind the sofa every time she saw it was on Cbeebies bless. Can't say I blamed her

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/10/2023 20:36

As a license payer I support you in that. Maybe you could fill her up (annoying pause) with whiz pop bang, and light the fuse before you yakk her out?

Nagado · 12/10/2023 20:38

@CowboyJoanna Yep, that’s the one! Creepy little thing. No wonder so many kids are scared of clowns when they have to watch that!

Emma543 · 12/10/2023 20:40

Not a tv series but good god I absolutely despise miss Rachel on YouTube!!

unicornpower · 12/10/2023 20:46

@Emma543 omg my eldest is OBSESSED with miss Rachel. I know all the words. All the songs and she makes me crazy but I’ve started talking like her just to get DD to do something lol i hate myself sometimes 😂

I’ve so far avoided peppa pig or paw patrol but she does love bing which i don’t HATE. But could do without. It’s a joy when she watches Thomas the tank engine tbh 😂

Moonwatcher1234 · 12/10/2023 20:49

Couldyounot · 12/10/2023 09:59

Our two youngest have developed a liking for something called Bread Barber Shop on Netflix. It is the most peculiar programme I have ever seen - not in any way offensive, just odd.

Grizzy and the Lemmings is becoming very very annoying

Gosh - mine too. It’s slightly horrifying but i can’t quite put my finger on it. The episode where his long lost dad turns up? Brutal.

Moonwatcher1234 · 12/10/2023 20:51

Can I whisper that I love bing though? I want to live in their lovely world and have flop as a friend.

You're not alone.
Yes, Bing is whiny, Pando is THAT kid, and Sula is a little too precocious, but I thought it was realistic! In our house we called Flop 'Saint Flop'.

CarrotSoupwithCheese · 12/10/2023 21:13

Paw Patrol and Okido set my teeth on edge.

Bluey is the best thing on TV and nothing will convince me otherwise. Every episode is a 7 minute masterpiece.

PeacockingAbout · 12/10/2023 21:17

I quite like Yakka Dee! Bing is annoying and teaches terrible baby talk - the DC have started saying stuff like 'rainy-bow' despite being perfectly capable of saying rainbow, because Bing does. I'd also be mysteriously busy any time a playdate with Pando was suggested, he's always taking other people's turns. But its not the worst.

Waffle is awful. I hate that badly behaved dog, and the ineffectual and negligent owners. I'd hate to live next door to them too, poor Mrs Hobbs. Also DS tunelessly sings the theme tune constantly and it makes my ears bleed.

The terrible Topsy the animated triceratops. Utterly pointless, and awfully acted and animated.

They seem to have cancelled it now thankfully, but that pissing taking guinea pig Olga da Polga drove me insane.

Molly and Mac is trite dross - I have no idea what the entertainment value is supposed to be.

Bloody DH put Paw Patrol on for them and they adore it - the film isn't that bad, but the series is dire. On pain of death he's not to introduce Peppa.

OMG I'm with you on Cocomelon - it used to haunt my dreams but once your brain numbs to the voices and starts to zone it out you get lulled into a kind of Stockholm Syndrome with it. Also a fan of 'I like to oot oot oot ooples and banoonoos' and the animal dance (let's all stand up, and move around, and clap our hands) - kind of a banger, let's be honest.

Bing can die a slow and horrible death. And what is Paget. A potato? A sack? Bd why does he pander to the whiny little shit?

Paw Patrol is the latest in our house and the theme song is just a loop in my head and their little catchphrases are soooo repetitive: 'Rubble on the double / chase is on the case / let's take to the sky.' Shhhhh, you irritating hounds.

Hey Duggee - if it wasn't for the stage show which was awesome - if you get a chance to see it, do, I'd hate it. Why does Duggee who's a dog who can only say 'a-woof' have any authority to teach a group of children??
