Anyone have any clue what the subject of tonight’s Panorama is? Unusual it still hasn’t been announced?

Is there anyone who has been in the daily mail who you wouldn't expect to see a lot of in the past few days? Usually they spot news they can't talk about and talk about it in a round about way through their side bar of shame.

Panorama is usually undercover scandals about things like care homes so anyone expecting salacious celebrity gossip will probably be disappointed

Blankspace4 · 02/10/2023 15:38

Hmmm I don’t like visiting the Daily Mail site - however I think you’re right re Panorama being different to Dispatches in its typical content. But they do usually publish the topic in advance

There was a story in the Times at the weekend which I found quite shocking - some billionaire close to politicians has been accused of basically bringing sex slaves into the UK. I hope it's that and the story doesn't just disappear.

This sounds more like it. This or Russell Brand fall out

I think it's this. It looks like it's a huge story.

I assume it is this too but it's weird that they didn't connect it with the panorama if so.

I hope it's this - it deserves a lot of coverage - and that the programme has uncovered the evidence to be able to name the names of the 'friends', politicians and doctors.

ScepticalPerson · 02/10/2023 16:01

It's the lack of leaks that is surprising. If it is that then why is it so hush hush?

User174085934 · 02/10/2023 16:07

It's probably nothing interesting and they see that a bit of a mystery means more viewers.

Yes, I want to watch it now!

itsmylife7 · 02/10/2023 16:37

Yes, let's hope it's about the perverted millionaire and his friends in very high places.

SecondClassReturnToDottinghamPlease · 02/10/2023 16:47

I'll be watching and I never normally watch Panorama.

User174085934 · 02/10/2023 16:50

I shall watch on iPlayer afterwards if it looks interesting as I want to watch The Long Shadow on ITV

Highandlows · 02/10/2023 16:50

Yes, let's hope it's about the perverted millionaire and his friends in very high places.

Do you think all his friends in high places are involved?

loislovesstewie · 02/10/2023 16:51

The Abercrombie Guys, according to iplayer.

TenderDandelions · 02/10/2023 16:52

My BBC iplayer app says "The Abercrombie Guys: The Dark Side of Cool"

I googled it and the articles talk about Abercrombie & Fitch and various controversies that it's involved with. It doesn't seem a particularly new story, unless they've found something else.

TenderDandelions · 02/10/2023 16:53

"Panorama investigates allegations of exploitation and abuse at the top of one of the biggest fashion brands in the US. Former CEO Mike Jeffries transformed Abercrombie and Fitch from a failing retail chain to a multi-billion dollar empire and the epitome of cool. Now after months of painstaking investigation, reporter Rianna Croxford speaks to men who say they were recruited into a dark world, created to satisfy the sexual fantasies of Mike Jeffries and his British partner Matthew Smith. Silenced for years by the fear of breaking non-disclosure agreements, these men describe feeling exploited and traumatised by their experience. One high profile American lawyer has called for prosecutors to investigate."

That sounds like a total repeat of the Netflix doc that came out last year.

Discwriter · 02/10/2023 16:57

Yeah it does sound like a repeat of the doc.

User174085934 · 02/10/2023 17:05

Well, you don't have to wait as it is on iPlayer.

Yes exactly!

If it is that person, then a foregone conclusion there will be camera cuts to pictures of the royal family talking to them at some event. Always good to get a cheap shot in.

Msblueskies · 02/10/2023 17:27

There’s already been a big Netflix documentary on the Abercrombie issues! Obviously an important issue but not groundbreaking or new, so why was it shrouded in mystery? :/

I would think so. Because it seems that Ghislaine Maxwell and her mate were convicted and imprisoned of trafficking children to no one.
