What one word do you find almost impossible to pronounce/say?

Mine's narcissistic. I pride myself on being reasonably eloquent, but that word has me beat.

Thankfully not a word I find myself needing to utter very often. Just as well, as it takes me about 32 attempts before I stop sounding like Arkwright in Open All Hours.

Mine's archipelago.
I read it in a Wizard of Earthsea as a teen but never hear it said so I made up my own pronunciation and now I have no idea what's correct!

MyCircumference · 30/09/2023 08:31

pain au chocolat

should i say it in a french accent, at a french market?
Blush

MyCircumference · 30/09/2023 08:32

also
Burgular
Chiminey

yes - both wrong

Plump82 · 30/09/2023 08:34

Burglary. I don't know if it's because I'm Scottish and all the rolling of R's causes issues! Same issue with Karl/Carl.

CountTo10 · 30/09/2023 08:39

Catastrophizing. No idea why I just cannot say that word.

Remuneration. Stupid word!

I agree. It feels like it should be renumeration

Sixth
Twelfth

I argue with my partner on this. I say sickth. He says sicksth. Hard to say either way!

followingthebreath · 30/09/2023 08:46

Infinitesimal

Precedence - my brain wants to say presidents.

Infantilising - my brain wants to say it but my mouth goes haywire and my tongue doesn't know what to do.

I worked with a Geordie chap and the word precedents would be used daily in our roles. He used to make it sounds like presidents and it made me smile.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 30/09/2023 08:47

Submarine, I always say sumbarine.

Fluffymarsh · 30/09/2023 08:49

Omg I can't say many of these! Went to a speech therapist for years as a child because I couldn't say SPOON, thankfully I'm better than I used to be 😆 got SPOON perfected now lol.

I often have to spell words out, I'm a great speller tbf!

tapdancingmum · 30/09/2023 08:52

Now I want to know how you're saying it 😅

Squirrelsnut · 30/09/2023 08:54

Pianist. I think because my brain thinks I'm about to say penis by mistake and makes me stutter.

Iwantacampervan · 30/09/2023 08:54

Meteorological is my nemesis - Met Office is said instead (not that it comes up in conversation very often).

sanityisamyth · 30/09/2023 08:56

Millionaire. I'll never be one so it's not a massive problem!

ThereIsATInWater · 30/09/2023 08:58

Regenerative, as in regenerative braking in electric cars.
Nope.

highlandcoos · 30/09/2023 08:59

Spendonsend · 30/09/2023 09:01
