Just need to take my mind off things while I wait.

Kids have been up for half an hour. What's up?

Famdram · 29/09/2023 05:53

Sorry to hear, anything you can set your mind to while you're waiting? Like if you win the lottery tomorrow exactly how will you decorate and furnish the new house? Or what would your next few years of holidays be like in great detail? Or your whirlwind romance with insert celebrity here 😄

Mum2aTeen · 29/09/2023 05:56

We were last night (currently 3 pm Friday here).
My son has an upper respiratory infection, and I have a sprained ankle, so that's fun (not) 🙄🫠.
Thankfully, my partner is here to help out.

Mum2aTeen · 29/09/2023 05:58

Sorry, I don't know how to edit my posts.
Hope you're OK and nothing too serious, and you're in and out soon.

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:08

Thanks, sorry just had to pop to the toilet. My mum fell down the stairs in the early hours, right from the top to the bottom. The ambulance crew have given her morphine for the pain and it looks like she may have multiple fractures. Waiting in A and E to see how she is.

Thanks for all your replies, and sorry to hear of other tales of woe. Hope you're all on the mend soon

fancyfrogs · 29/09/2023 06:13

Oh your poor Mum. I hope you're not waiting too long Flowers

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:13

I've forgotten what it's like to have little ones that get up before it's light @Earhell

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:14

@fancyfrogs thanks. They're still checking her over at the moment

Donotshushme · 29/09/2023 06:15

Oh no your poor mum!!!

I'm up because since December my body has decided every single day to just wake up at 5am for no reason. I quite like the peace and quiet before everyone else is up though.

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:19

@Donotshushme do you have to go to bed really early? I quite like the peace of early mornings too

OP posts:
Donotshushme · 29/09/2023 06:25

I still go to bed at 10.30-11 because I'm stubborn and i don't want to accept that this is my new wake up time forever!

SuddenlyOld · 29/09/2023 06:29

My MIL fell off her bedside table and hurt her back.

She was putting her curtains up! Never mind that she has 2 sons and DILs to ask, or proper steps to use. My granny was the same. They get to their 80s and still think they can do stuff they did in their 30s.

Sending healing hugs to your mum x

Hollywolly1 · 29/09/2023 06:30

I hope your poor Mother makes a speedy recovery, she must be so shocked and terrible for you as well🌺🌺

idliketogetdownnow · 29/09/2023 06:30

Hope your mum is ok @Memberofstaff

I've been up since 4.20am for one reason and another. Loads on my mind. This place has helped me feel less lonely today.

Best wishes to you all!

SuddenlyOld · 29/09/2023 06:31

I'm the same right now, awake at 5.17 on the dot every morning for the last month. And I can't get back to sleep.

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:32

Thanks @SuddenlyOld
My parents have been really fit and well but seemed to have aged all of a sudden (they're both late 70s)

Memberofstaff · 29/09/2023 06:34

Thanks for your good wishes. Just heard she's having a C T scan and then I should be able to see her

Really sorry Op. I hope your mum is being well looked after. Its an education and a half being in A and E sometimes. We,as a family had a year or so off us all needing A and E at some point the other year. Its not fun and was utter madness. People watching at 4 am is my least favourite thing in the world!

BettyPhuckzer · 29/09/2023 06:35

I can really empathise. Sending you both love ❤️

Syndulla · 29/09/2023 06:36

Gosh that sounds nasty for your poor Mum. Hope she is on the mend soon.

I'm up because DS started shouting in his sleep at 5am which then made the dog start barking to be let out.

Anyway, of all the inventions in the world, the white board has to be the most remarkable.

Limetreee · 29/09/2023 06:43

Oh I’m so sorry. My mum fell down her stairs last year, she lives in a 1st floor flat, we found her about an hour later. She was lucky at 90 to only suffer a small brain haemorrhage.
She’d broken her hip three years earlier due to a fall indoors, so we were worried she could have damaged it again.
She still lives alone , but spent three months in rehabilitation. Hope your mum is not as bad as they think and makes a full recovery. Remember to look after yourself too.

OldTinHat · 29/09/2023 06:45

Sending you both best wishes.

The not knowing exactly what's what is the worst. When you know, you can deal with it.

I was in hospital yesterday for a routine appointment but have to go back in this morning. Not fun places.

But to make you smile, my local hospital is on a hill, so you go up in the lift and still end up on ground floor level. Lots of slopes and walking. Anyway, had my appointment yesterday, the lady in with my consultant directed me to the pharmacy afterwards. So I did slopes, lifts, floors, slopes, took ages, found the pharmacy and BAM!!! The lady who directed me suddenly appeared right in front of me like an apparition and said 'ah, you found it!'. I was terrified! Apparently there is a short cut for staff, I thought she'd teleported herself there! 😆

Hospitals are not fun but you're both in the best place. Just beware of teleporting medical staff!

Hi. Sitting waiting in A & E is tedious and worrying for you. I hope your Mum is OK. I'm in my 70s and it's really difficult learning to live with deteriorating health. I hope she recovers well. I'm in Oz and it's a lovely sunny afternoon. I'm just about to take my dog out for a walk. We'll be thinking of you and your Mum. Good luck.

mumda · 29/09/2023 06:48

Hope your mum is ok.
