Waitrose Vouchers

If you’ve been using your vouchers against anything in your basket….has this stopped this week?

No but considering how much I spend there they are barely worth having.

KnittedCardi · 24/09/2023 18:05

I've stopped bothering with them. Used to get a selection of £1 and £1.50, sometimes more, now all 50p. I complained to customer services and they basically said boo hoo, tough.

fussychica · 24/09/2023 18:12

My understanding was that it was OK to use the voucher against anything in the range if they didn't have the item you'd selected eg you've picked a dessert that's out of stock in your store so you pick another dessert.
Is that no longer the case?
They are are hardly worth the bother, some weeks all of mine have been 50p ones despite regular spends. Just don't bother Waitrose!
Must admit I'm buying way less in there than I used to. Too expensive, quality not as good and loads of gaps on the shelves.

I managed to use one today and the 2nd came up with an error with something along the lines saying ’not entitled’. Up until now, I’ve used them for anything I’ve bought.

They're rubbish. Most of the vouchers I get offered are for things I rarely buy. Got 50p off milk this week 🙄 considering we spend thousands a year there..starting to lose my loyalty fast.

Precipice · 24/09/2023 19:03

This week I only got an 'Unfortunately, we are unable to provide selected members with vouchers this week.' I used a voucher last week, though as they didn't have the standard item I get and I had to substitute it with one that was twice the cost, I wasn't too pleased with the 50p off. I liked it more when spending 10 pounds got you a paper free.

Porridgeislife · 24/09/2023 19:04

I don’t use them as they’re such a faff to apply.

We are shopping there a lot less as they always seem to have empty shelves, discounts/deals/multi buys have all disappeared and the produce quality has plummeted since they removed best before labels on their fruit & veg. I bought bread yesterday that was 4 days out of date!

Yettisrus29 · 24/09/2023 19:23

I've not used mine the past couple of weeks. Nothing over 50p, hardly worth me going for 50p off when I can get more off using my student card in the local CoOp. I complained and was told something along the lines of "we're sorry you're not happy but tough".

Yes exactly the same for me. I've used my vouchers for anything at all with no issue until this week.

I scanned my second voucher, it came up with an error message and didn't deduct my 50p, BUT also the app says I've used both my vouchers this week. So the second voucher has been lost. Only 50p, but it's the principle!!

sorrynotathome · 24/09/2023 19:26

Mine worked yesterday. I almost always get something I want in the choice of offers, ie something I often buy. Also got free newspaper - @Precipice

sorrynotathome · 24/09/2023 19:28

I remember somebody saying you could use them for anything - but I tried that once and it didn't work. However, I have been able once or twice to use the voucher for a "substitute" item.

Nail123 · 27/09/2023 19:32

So been back in today and the first voucher worked fine with an unrelated product.

I had 2 x 50p vouchers, I chose a chocolate bar one and garlic dough balls. Bought the chocolate bar and tried the first voucher for the dough balls and 50p came off, 2nd voucher was for the chocolate bar (correct product) and that came off as well. 30p chocolate bar.

I had an email to say wef 18/10 you can no longer select a different item as t&c’s are changing.

BlanketyB · 18/10/2023 10:46

I don't bother with them anymore either. I used to when they were decent (and you used to be able to use them for anything). I know it was a cost cutting exercise but it has made me disloyal and I spend a lot less with them now - I now only use WR for top up shops and get an online Ocado order. For some silly reason it has annoyed me a bit too much.

PopSocksRock · 18/10/2023 11:17

Waitrose near me started off doing a monthly draw to win your shop free - that stopped
Charity plastic token box for local nominated charities - stopped
Free paper - stopped
Free tea/coffee - stopped
Paper vouchers sent to you that had real value - stopped
Full delicatessen counter -reduced to just ham and cheese
Bakery - reduced to baguettes and bread only, cakes on a lift up and cough all over it display
Shame really

LizziesTwin · 17/11/2023 15:56

I’m not getting any vouchers anymore, I was getting free news
papers & vouchers. It didn’t save me much, £1-£3 a week but it all counts.

fussychica · 19/11/2023 19:00

All my favourite products keep disappearing too, without any suitable alternative. We call it Dumprose now as our branch is grubby, disorganised and has huge gaps on the shelves. It's gone from being my shop of choice to one I only use to get specific products, that's assuming they're in stock and not discontinued. We drive to M&S now instead.

ACAC2023 · 19/11/2023 19:05

I used 2 today, no problem and have a separate voucher section where I can get a voucher for a free paper each day too. I hardly ever bother with the paper as they usually don’t get read & I end up recycling them. I got the Sunday Times today & gave the magazines to the customer in front of me who was trying to sneak the Times magazines inside the Mail on Sunday 😂

ACAC2023 · 19/11/2023 19:07

Oh, but I use the vouchers for the correct products. Haven’t tried to use them for something else as I didn’t think you could

Libertass · 19/11/2023 19:13

I really don’t understand Waitrose’s commercial strategy at all. They are still far more expensive than other supermarkets, (what happened to Tesco price match?) but they have taken away almost all the perks which used to offset the higher prices. So why shop there now?
Although, given how seem to be closing most of their stores here in the East Midlands, that soon won’t be an option.

user1488286199 · 17/12/2023 21:22

There is certainly a change in Waitrose vouchers. You cannot use weekly vouchers for another product. This use to work fine till couple of months ago.
However, they are not doing money off vouchers in the post anymore. Atleast I haven't received in past 3 months.
Has anyone else received their vouchers lately?

Caval · 24/01/2024 20:26

Dates were stopped as it causes a colossal amount of food waste. How did people manage without 'best before' and 'sell by' dates!

Caval · 24/01/2024 20:27

You can't. They stopped it a couple of months ago.

Caval · 24/01/2024 20:30

One of the staff will correct the error if you ask them.

ssd · 24/01/2024 20:33

Are you saying there isn't use before dates on the food now??
