Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I have the washer on for the towels & am hoping the weather improves to get them on the line!

I'm planning a very slow day today. Think it'll be spent mostly crafting & I might have a nap - or head back to bed for an hour after my cuppa. I've almost finished a second set of Goldilocks & the Three Bears peg dolls, and some spare bears so they'll be my first job.

I need to iron dd2's school shirts, and want to upload a few things to Vinted too.

The girls are heading to Lidl for a few things we need for the coming week. Dd1 has some more college work to get on with, and dd2 has finished all her homework so will probably spend the day mooching once they've been to Lidl.

Roast chicken for tea with all the trimmings. I suspect I'm going to be asked for a cheese sauce, or cauli cheese, with tea - they bought a big milk yesterday instead of the skinny ones we usually buy 🤔

Tonight will be early showers all round, a bit of beading for me - hopefully I'll finish the section of my garter I'm currently working on 🤞, and early nights all round 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Taking the kids to the local trampoline park first thing.
Then a slow rest of day - making chicken dinner, baths, getting ready for school tomorrow, playing with toys/games/colouring.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 24/09/2023 09:14

Morning, @lucysmam ! That sounds like a lovely day. I’m always impressed by how much crafty stuff
you do - I have so much ambition but achieve so little!

Another quiet day here as DP is still Covided. We were supposed to be having my dad and uncle round for tea later, but that’s not going to happen. I’m waiting to find out whether they want me to go round to my dad’s instead, but they’re anxious that I might be carrying the lurgy, even though I’ve repeatedly tested negative.

DD’s school is closed tomorrow,
so the Sunday evening pressure will be off a bit.

ShipshapeShore · 24/09/2023 09:15

Good morning! I feel like all is right with the world when you're in your spot with the washer on @lucysmam 😀

Clothes in the tumble dryer as it's wet here and I'm off to church soon. On my third hot drink of the day already so I hope the priest isn't in a talkative mood!!

Cosy day in I think with either fish pie or steak pie for dinner, followed by a glass or two of wine with my lovely DH.

DH and DS currently out at Parkrun. I'm in bed with a coffee and my book. Weather here is patchy so it'll be cleaning the house, then all out for a dog walk. DS swimming lesson this afternoon then I'm going to my friends house for fajitas and Barbie tonight.

bellalou1234 · 24/09/2023 09:26

I've just brought my cuppa back to bed. I'm going to get up soon put sausages in airfryer for sausage sarnies. Then I'm heading to town to look for some chunky boots. Lunch is at bella italia

Justonedayatatime11 · 24/09/2023 09:28

Still in bed feeling rough. Negative for covid but feel absolutely horrible. So an easy day. Some washing, sort the animals. Need to do some GF baking for DDs lunchbox this week, and desperately need to put away the summer clothes so there's room in the wardrobes for coats. Will see how much energy I have. Slow cooker gammon in coke with mash for tea and probably an early night

Lndnmummy · 24/09/2023 09:31

Hello, can I join? I am currently sat in the coffee shop down the road having a coffee in peace and thinking through how to tackle a stressful upcoming week at work. Then home to my boys. Will help both ds's woth their homework and sort out dressing up costumes for the coming week and then make brownies as I'd promised my youngest to do that today. Dh will be at the gym. We are on a decluttering mission so will do a couple of rounds to the recycling centre.

Will meet my best friend for a glass of wine late afternoon then home to do bedtime. Dh and I will jabe lazy dinner (M&S ready made) and watch something on netflix later.

AlwaysPrettyOnTheInside · 24/09/2023 09:32

Im currently battling the urge to go to the shop for chocolate and pizza.

I went to a wedding yesterday and overdid it on the carbs/junk and have heartburn. I need to get back on my routine ASAP but feel like chocolate, crisps and tv today. Fancied pizza since last night.

I dont get paid til Friday and only have 20 quid so shouldn't be wasting it on junk I don't need.

Other than that, lazy day for me today really. Tv, might batch cook a soup for the week later. Should have that for dinner but the pizza is calling me...

afaloren · 24/09/2023 09:34

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else!

Up early this morning for a work call then treated myself to a Maccies breakfast. DH’s friend is staying and I know DH is making them a cooked breakfast when they wake up so this was my own little treat Grin

Hanging out with my cats now and waiting for DM to message me when she wants me to come over. She’s been looking after my dog for me this weekend so I need to pick him up plus when I go over I’ll put her autumn decorations up (we both like to decorate for the seasons) and we’ll have lunch and several cups of tea.

Later DH and I are going to watch the extended edition of Return of the King which always makes me cry so I’ll have my tissues ready!

frozendaisy · 24/09/2023 09:34

Having Clementine cake for breakfast!
Best part of 4 hours pissing about, little dense for my liking but has potential and it was a first run!

Good morning by the way.

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?
Boyboyboy10 · 24/09/2023 09:34

I've just brought a cuppa back to bed with me. DH is up and mooching, he'll take DC to football soon. I'm going for a bike ride with a friend later this afternoon although I could easily just stay in my pj's all day. I'll be looking at jobs online later. Need to sort some washing at some point too.

CurlewKate · 24/09/2023 09:35

Just making coffee. I'm on my own this weekend, so after going for a walk and a quick tidy up, I'm going to devote the day to my secret embarrassing hobby. And I have Itsu frozen gyoza for dinner.

Caledoniablue · 24/09/2023 09:40

Morning @lucyslucysmam and everyone else.
Hope you all have lovely Sundays.

I'm working, been up since 4am and won't get home til around 10pm tonight. I started a new business earlier this year, and we have around 5 weeks of our season left, so really trying to make all the money we can at the moment to see us through winter. Just on a quick coffee and pastry break Grin
Dh at home with ds, he might take him to the waterpark for the day I think.

frozendaisy · 24/09/2023 09:41

Need coffee to go with this!
Then a proper back to secondary school, no outside distractions, Sunday. First roast dinner of the season, pork to begin with, homework and a couple of rounds with some board games.

I have a landscape painting that needs finishing by next week to be photographed, i have spent all week decluttering from summer holiday chaos to regain my studio so I am running out of excuses.

And need to do car insurance will do first thing tomorrow I think as it's boring basically you spend hundreds of pounds and essentially all that happens is you keep driving the same car.

Mischance · 24/09/2023 09:42

I had planned a day planting pansies around my garden, but it is now lashing down. So I will experiment with my new alcohol inks - can't wait!

Chickoletta · 24/09/2023 09:42

Currently in bed with a coffee, MN and DCat. I can hear DH and DD clanging around in the kitchen so suspect that they might be making pancakes. DS (13) still fast asleep.
Raining here at the moment but I got a lot of gardening and blackberry picking with the dogs done yesterday, so don’t mind an indoor day today.
Kids have a commitment for their hobby this afternoon, so will go and support them at that - indoors thankfully. Thinking sausages, mash and onion gravy for dinner or sausage casserole.
I’ve got lots of work to do at some point today but will probably end up leaving it until the last minute. Very busy (and quite exciting) working week ahead so making the most of some quiet time today.

PortalooSunset · 24/09/2023 09:45

Trying to decide if I have a migraine or a hangover.. Pissed off if hangover as only had 2 ciders!
Helping dc2 with homework then maybe out for a walk this afternoon.
Roast beef and yorkies for dinner.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/09/2023 09:45

Not looking like much today. I was hoping to weed the front and trim the hedge, but it's raining, so doesn't look like it will happen. I'll nip the hoover and duster over the lounge.

OH is exercising in the lounge and then off for new windscreen wipers.

Think this afternoon will be chill with a posh coffee or two, then have a video call with the eldest, who is at Uni.

Youngest (16) has gone back to sleep I think, he was up to watch the F1 this morning. Think he nicked some of last nights pizza to have whilst watching 🤣

RabbitsRock · 24/09/2023 09:47

Morning everyone - always love these threads. Kind of like putting on an old pair of slippers.
Still in bed. I’ve recently started taking antidepressants & they make me sleep. Actually slept in til 8.50 which never happens! Although I was woken at 6 by DD14. Not much planned for today. I really should clean the bathroom which is WAY overdue! The weather isn’t very promising but I’ll try to go for a walk at some point. There’s an Iceland crackling pork joint in the freezer for tea if I can be bothered to do the veg! Need to check the spud situation & buy carrots, broccoli etc. Also desperate for ankle boots as I have no waterproof shoes at all except my wellies. We also need a new duvet.

lucysmam · 24/09/2023 09:48

@CurlewKate I'm intrigued by your secret embarrassing hobby 🤔

@frozendaisy will you be making it for Christmas? You reminded me there's a single, lonely, portion of apple and pear crumble in my fridge. Maybe I'll have that for brekky!

My bears just need their ears now, then I can varnish them. I'm not going back to bed yet; I'll have a nap later on instead.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 24/09/2023 09:51

Relaxing hopefully a bit today. Been up since 5 with dd2 and who has barely slept since! Visiting PILs this morning then to pet shop for pet food. I want to get home by lunch as cat is limping for last 2 days and looks worse today. If not better by morning I’ll ring vets tomorrow. He has faked limps before but he mewed when I touched his leg so going to take him in. Poor boy.

Dd1 is wanting to watch redzone with dh tonight. Not sure if she’ll enjoy it!

Freepublictransport · 24/09/2023 09:52

Feeling sorry for myself. Tested positive for Covid yesterday.
Supposed to be finally getting away on holiday this year tomorrow - I have been looking forward to this for months but my friend has said she doesn’t want to travel with me or share a room. So that’s my holiday down the drain - she will go.

SteveHarringtonsHair · 24/09/2023 09:52

Good morning to all.

I’ve been up since 7. Just having a sit down with a coffee.

I’m currently working on a Christmas crochet wreath for my friend. It’s a surprise and I can’t wait to give it to her already 😊

I’ve tidied out all of my cupboards in preparation for Christmas this morning too and have found some mincemeat from last year. Contemplating making some mince pies this afternoon with DH who absolutely loves them. He’s currently still asleep but once he’s up we’ll take the dog out in spite of the rubbish weather.

We’re also having roast chicken today, need to get some stuffing while we’re out.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

troppibambini6 · 24/09/2023 10:00

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else. That sounds like a lovely day Lucysmam.
I'm having a slow day too. I was supposed to be taking dd2 to netball but she fell terribly yesterday playing for school and has landed badly on her knees and face so is struggling to walk never mind netball!
Dh is taking smallest boy to a party. For once our house is spotless as we had a viewing yesterday 😆
Might get my winter stuff down from the loft and put summer away.

Decafflatteplease · 24/09/2023 10:01

Morning @lucysmam and all!

So glad to hear you are doing so well and can get back to work @lucysmam your love for your work comes through your posts!

Slow morning here, been reading with the little ones, teens still in bed! Got a pot of tea on the go and a pile of crumpets and real butter, simple pleasures!

We are trying to decide what to do this afternoon. I have some autumn bedding I'd like to get planted in pots for the front but I think the rain may stop play. We did have a greenhouse I could have potted them in there but it got smashed in a storm 😞 we may go for a walk to the park but again depends on the weather. I'm very much a put waterproofs on and crack on mindset but the teens aren't so eager 🤣 or we may just go swimming. Need to feel like we are getting use from our annual pass. Decisions decisions!

Sausage mash and cauliflower cheese for dinner tonight. Of course it's Sunday so tonight is self care Sunday 🙂 may have my usual bath gin and Kindle but if we go swimming I'll shower there so tonight will be an early night with my book. Will see!

Have a lovely Sunday all!
