Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. I have the washer on for the towels & am hoping the weather improves to get them on the line!

I'm planning a very slow day today. Think it'll be spent mostly crafting & I might have a nap - or head back to bed for an hour after my cuppa. I've almost finished a second set of Goldilocks & the Three Bears peg dolls, and some spare bears so they'll be my first job.

I need to iron dd2's school shirts, and want to upload a few things to Vinted too.

The girls are heading to Lidl for a few things we need for the coming week. Dd1 has some more college work to get on with, and dd2 has finished all her homework so will probably spend the day mooching once they've been to Lidl.

Roast chicken for tea with all the trimmings. I suspect I'm going to be asked for a cheese sauce, or cauli cheese, with tea - they bought a big milk yesterday instead of the skinny ones we usually buy 🤔

Tonight will be early showers all round, a bit of beading for me - hopefully I'll finish the section of my garter I'm currently working on 🤞, and early nights all round 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else.
I'm day off today, currently sat on the couch contemplating a posh coffee if i can be bothered getting up. Ds and dh sleeping. I love this time when its still quiet. The rain is off but its not looking hopeful so i don't think I'll put a washing on.
Dh just got up. Peace is shattered.
I'll make that coffee now.

Jeffreybubblesbombom · 24/09/2023 10:05

Currently laid at side of our pool in the villa we rented in Turkey.
First time in Turkey.. chosen wrong place..
Turkey is breath taking.. but we won't be coming back.
Will stick with the Greek Islands/ Cyprus/ Canary Islands.
Luckily it's our 6th break away this year and not an annual holiday.
The drivers are horrific and do just what they want.
But can't complain... least I'm in the sun.

PlumpAndGrump · 24/09/2023 10:10

I'm currently enjoying a few moments of peace where my 2 eldest are playing nicely together and my youngest is still asleep. I wish I could sleep like my 2 year old does 😮

Today I will be tackling a plumbing problem where one of the aforementioned little angels has somehow got a toy/bouncy call stuck down the bath drain which means the water is draining so slowly taking hours. I'm going at it with the wet vac I think. Wish me luck.

I have to think of something for dinner although we are at the stage in the month where it's a random dinner from the cupboards or freezer so I'll need to see what we have.

Later I need to pack for going away for a few days as of tomorrow.

Have a great day everyone.

@CurlewKate I'm intrigued by your secret embarrassing hobby 🤔

@frozendaisy will you be making it for Christmas? You reminded me there's a single, lonely, portion of apple and pear crumble in my fridge. Maybe I'll have that for brekky!

My bears just need their ears now, then I can varnish them. I'm not going back to bed yet; I'll have a nap later on instead.

Yes this is the driving force to have a bit Christmas cake Christmas cake and cakes hate me so practice is required!

Plus it's nice to have citrus zing in flavours when the sun is not as warm

piscofrisco · 24/09/2023 10:23

Just got up, very hungover after friends birthday unlimited Prosecco thingy. Why do I do this to myself?! Dh has taken DSS1 to football, DSS2 is on the PlayStation . I've just taken DD2 a cup of mint tea in bed. DD1 is at work.
Will chivvy DSS2 into coming to the farmers market with me in a bit, then to hobby craft to get stuff for our big autumn decorating-we do it every year. We are planning on making a big tree this year with branches and autumn leaves dangling from the bannisters on the stairs. I know how I want it to look in my head, the reality will probably be quite different! (And a bit more rubbish).

I'm going to prep the veg for the roast later-DH likes to cook it-he's a great cook and he loves it. I will make a lasagne for tomorrow and maybe some buns and that's about it I think.
I really need to put the daffodil bulbs and prune the lavender (I planted a lavender border this year and it's been surprisingly triumphant for rubbish at gardening me) but it feels like too strenuous a job for this hangover so will do them gradually through the week maybe.

Have a lovely day all x

CoodleMoodle · 24/09/2023 10:46

Chilled morning so far. DD has a party this afternoon so we spent quite a bit of time sorting out her hair (she's 9 so it's v important), whilst DS and DH played Hot Wheels. They're still playing actually... I asked DH if he was going to have a shower so I could put the washing machine on, and he said he was having too much fun playing Grin I do need to put it on today though, or the DC won't have enough school uniform.

This afternoon I'll take DD to the party, and DS wants to go to the park while she's gone. He gets a bit sad and floaty when his big sister isn't here. She shouldn't be too long though, and DH is going to pick her up at the end, while I start the dinner. We're having burgers.

Tonight1 · 24/09/2023 10:51

Had a lovely breakfast of poached eggs, frittata, beetroot burger and toast.

Now having a coffee on the sofa but need to set off for the coast soon to see friend.

Greenfinch7 · 24/09/2023 11:06

@Freepublictransport That really stinks- I am so sorry. Is there any way you can join if you test negative soon? Of course it will probably be too expensive, but I recently had covid and was negative after just a few days...

All of you have such beautiful lives- wonderful to hear about. It's inspiring, so I am going to write about my life in a positive way, though the reality is I don't usually think of it like that.

I'm going to make coffee and tidy up in front of the house, then lounge with my book club book until it's time to take the train to my book club meeting. Will have a lovely chat with everyone and come home for dinner with DH, which will be soup and salad, I think.

Andnowshesatoddler · 24/09/2023 11:06

My mum has kindly had my daughter for the day, meant to be doing a few jobs instead we are happily snoozy time on the sofa with goomw.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Tonight1 · 24/09/2023 11:08

@Andnowshesatoddler happy Sunday snoozing

PurpleChrayne · 24/09/2023 11:10

Basically spending the day eating, as we start a 25-hour fast this evening for Yom Kippur (day of atonement).

DH is off to the mikveh (ritual bath) soon while I have a rest with the DCs. We'll make a big meal when he gets home.

OriginalFloorboards · 24/09/2023 11:14

I’m meant to be riding my horse but I’m in bed with an endometriosis flare (stage 4) and I’m feeling sorry for myself.

However, I can see my horses from my bedroom window (stuff of dreams for an equestrian) so I keep reminding myself I’m actually very lucky.

The TENS machine is working it’s magic. I’m hoping by this afternoon I can cope with a wander out to them and see them all and have a hug off them.

Currently my very loyal rescue dog is laid with me and my two cats (they absolutely love endo flares as they get to lounge with me) so I’m fully looked after.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.

RabbitsRock · 24/09/2023 11:22

Tonight1 are beetroot burgers good? I love fresh beetroot but have never tried a beetroot burger.

useless1000 · 24/09/2023 11:32

Just had brunch, off swimming with dc later and probably coffee and cake somewhere as need to pop into Town

NonMiDispiace · 24/09/2023 11:45

Good morning everyone, a lazy morning so far. I didn’t wake up until 8 although I was awake for several hours in the middle of the night.
DH has taken the dog out for a long walk, I’ve finished packing to go away for a few days in Somerset. It’s difficult knowing what to pack because it’s a en plein painting holiday and the forecast isn’t good.
The car park is some way from the hotel too so I will have to lug everything through the town.
I’m pretty sure I had something like Covid last week but tested negative 4 times, most unpleasant and odd.
I Hope you have a great day.

Chelsea26 · 24/09/2023 11:49

Morning all!

We’ve had a fairly busy morning with all the kids and MIL here (poor thing broke her arm recently so she’s staying with us for a while)

I took DS1 to football and then tidied the kitchen which was a mess from big dinner for 10 last night, then made sausage/bacon/egg sandwiches for everyone.

DP has taken the dog out and is now continuing his garden room project with our lovely neighbour helping him out.

DS2 is getting picked up by his dad in a bit then I’ll take DSS into town as he needs new football boots. DSD will probably tag along.

Later we’ll drop DSD and DSS home and then DP and I are going out for dinner and staying in a hotel where he used to live then climbing Ivanhoe Beacon tomorrow morning.

We have a great habit of climbing hills and mountains on the cloudiest of days so probably no view from the top for us!

Have a lovely day everyone! X

whirlyhead · 24/09/2023 11:50

The day got off to a stonking start when I pulled the kick plate off a kitchen unit to find a large decomposing rat behind it. Cue me running into the street screaming and trying to accost joggers to get them to move it (the joggers suddenly all turned into Usain Bolt speed sprinters)

fortunately my lovely neighbour came to my aid but I now feel I need to lie down for the rest of the day.

however I am moving house tomorrow so I can’t. At least I saved my buyers from the discovery. That would have been embarrassing.

Bubblemoons · 24/09/2023 11:55

I’m currently unwell with covid, and dh is away for the weekend. So I’m just trying to get through the day with 3 dc aged 5 and under. Currently they’re all playing,
older two on Lego younger with duplo. I need to clean the bathroom and windows, and we will probably go out for a walk at some point and pick blackberrys, I’ll make a crumble if I have the energy!

AdoraBell · 24/09/2023 11:58

Right now sitting down with a Brew need to walk the dog, she’s chomping at the bit as you can see 🤣🤣

Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone doing today?
lucysmam · 24/09/2023 12:01

@AdoraBell she looks very keen to get going 🤔🤣

I've just had the crumble with clotted cream for brunch. Very good it was!

Trying to decide what to do next. Maybe I'll paint the next set of figures, don't need to move to do those!

I was up early to drive DD and DS into town for activities. Back by 9:30, when DH got up and made us toasted scones with lemon curd and proper coffee. Lovely! Then he went back into town to collect DS, bring him shopping for a couple of things, collect DD and bring them both home. They should be back in an hour or so.

I have a wash on, and I've folded three loads that were waiting. We had a viewing yesterday so the place was pretty nice for that, so I'm trying to keep it that way; I've just run around and brought everything back up to scratch and it's amazing how much more restful it is when it's clean and tidy.

Yesterday we went to a local farm for a pick-your-own sunflowers and apples walk (and we got loads of horse chestnuts as well, though they were just an added bonus). It was delightfully autumnal. This afternoon I'm going to make an apple pie in my lovely clean decluttered kitchen, while a lump of pork shoulder roasts with apples, onions and sage. I bloody love this time of year.

Silkiebunny · 24/09/2023 12:08

Sorry about your holiday Free public Hope covid improves soon.

Our new kitchen is finally almost finished and we have cooker again. This morning have had tea X 2 and a Portuguese tart. Will have a Sunday roast and then probably go swimming, sauna, jacuzzi and steam room later.

If I am feeling energetic I may do some grout painting.

TeddyFaces · 24/09/2023 12:38

I lazed around in bed until 11, got up and had a shower and now I'm lazing on the sofa until my DH puts lunch on the table.
Then I'll laze around on the sofa again watching football.
Then I'll laze on the sofa until bedtime.
I bloody love Sundays 😁

IncompleteSenten · 24/09/2023 12:39
