Snoring man in children's ward keeping everyone awake

I'm in hospital with a sick child on a busy ward full of (obviously) sick little ones and the only person having a nice ol' sleep is the only man on the ward. Yes I know its 'not his fault' but is it fair to keep everyone awake? He knows he is a snorer so surely he should adjust position or set timers or something. Am I being completely unreasonable? I'd wake him only he is behind a curtain and I feel that's not fair on the child he is with. Why do snorers always get to sleep and not anyone else. In any other circumstances one person's needs wouldn't trump a whole group.

I’ve been the nurse with the loud patients, the aggressive patients, the dying patients, the aggressive and threatening relatives, the short staffed ward, the patients and relatives ringing the bell for things like fresh water in flowers, I’ve seen and heard it all, I’ve also been the patient, with the confused elderly lady with no clothes on going thru my property, the old man peeing at the end of my bed, the patient in the next bed with ten relatives around the bed bashing into my bed, hospitals are noisy and horrible places to be, it’s not easy being on either side , but if you are there with your child the nurses are not their to make it great for you, they are there to nurse your child. I know you are tired but the nurse cannot make someone else’s relative stop snoring because you don’t like it!

Yes OP, if he went straight back to sleep after finding out he was keeping others awake he sounds like a selfish fucker to me too. And good point that he doesn't know others circumstances either.

How do you know that, maybe he’s just spent 3 or 4 nights not sleeping with a seriously unwell child and is completely knackered, maybe someone’s dad kept him awake for nights on end, the selfish fucker is the person who thinks the ward revolves around them!

My DH can snore awfully sometimes, if it were him i would have no problem with you waking him up!

Doubt nurses will do much. My little one was ill and there was a 14 year old next to me with her light on and her radio on at 2am..refused to turn it off and nurses did fuck all.

This just reminded me of when i was in hospital last year
I mentioned the alzeimers patient and covid tests at 2 or 3 am

But the night in a&e there was also an old lady screaming all night. It was covid but they let her dd stay with her.

Then when i was on the ward a man was swearing at the nurses all night , really horrible language.
I was in 6 days and dont think i got a full nights sleep.
I also spend 7 weeks on a maternity ward with pre eclampsia back in the 90s and every night beds were moved around as women went into labour , then got woken up at 6 for BP , really not a restful experience at all.
