Olivia Rodrigo tickets - too young for standing!

cordiality · 20/09/2023 15:19

Urhhnnnnggghh, just went through the traumatic process of registering, queuing, panic buying on ticketmaster for Olivia Rodrigo tickets next year. There were no seated tickets coming up, despite the sale having been open for less than a minute, so I panicked and bought four standing tickets.

Only once it was all done, did I go back through to take time to read the info about the event, and I see that standing is for age 16+ only. My dd (and her friends) will be 14.

Can't return the tickets, can't buy different ones now as could only buy 4 max, I was lucky to get a code to purchase anyway as lots didnt manage to get even that, but I've nobbed it!

Not much I can do now is there? I'm so gutted, my dd loves Olivia Rodrigo with the raw passion that I had for Take That back in the day. I was so excited to be able to try for these tickets for her.

Does anyone know if they are v strict on this age restriction at the O2? Would they be asked for ID?

Hey I think they can go if they are with an adult! And also how much were the tickets each thank you

I'm pretty sure standing is 14 plus.

It's frustrating @BeverleyMacker and @bruffin - at Wembley Stadium floor standing is 14+ so maybe I thought this would be the same.

Accompanied under 15s is for seated tickets only, floor is 16+

We've done exactly the same...only with the VIP package which seems to have an not-on-your-life-jog-on returns policy.

We DIDN'T get a code. DD14 distraught...absolute die hard fan from before everyone had heard of her, talked of nothing for months. She cried all night when we got waitlisted.

Then last night got taken off waitlist, also like you buying in a panic as the timer counted down, also limited ticket choices - thought we'd go for it on the VIP despite the astronomical price because it would be such an amazing experience.

Only AFTERWARDS read small print. Like you stuck between a rock and a hard place. Can't even buy more tickets because of the max 4 limit.

Seems really over the top compared to other venues - especially if with a parent. Also I would imagine a large proportion - if not the majority - of her fans WOULD be under 16.

😩😩😩

I really sympathise, it's crap. I've requested a refund on my tickets as it was within 24 hours, still waiting to hear back on that.
Are yours the vip standing ones at the front? How old will your daughter be?
This is SO annoying!

Oh sorry @OnlyOneAdda I see your dd is 14. will she be 15 next year? Could she easily get away with looking 16?!
I just wonder how young they actually have to be to get their age checked??

She'll have just turned 15 a couple of weeks before. She looks pretty old for her age and I would think could very reasonably pass for 16...and she'll be with two adults not like a gaggle of lone girls. It's just whether they ID everyone as a matter of course...bit like challenge 25 for buying alcohol.

The other thing is she really wants to be in the pit not sitting! We took her to Reading festival to see Billie Eilish and she was right in the thick of it camping out for a front spot 5hrs before the start!! She loves being right in the thick of it.

Paulabean · 08/12/2023 15:56

I’m gutted I need to swap x2 standing tickets for seats in Manchester I didn’t realise there was a age restriction in standing pit and she is only 10 my daughter is heartbroken as was her birthday present feel like the worst mum

cordiality · 09/12/2023 22:39

I'm sure there must be two people out there who'd love to swap seated for standing!! I just don't know how you find them! You have plenty of time, I'm sure you'll find a solution x

Bumping this thread. We got tickets for dd(10) for Christmas also standing in Manchester and have just realised that she won't be allowed in the standing area :(

Thougt I'd also ask if anyone may be willing to swap standing for seated - would be willing to travel to Birmingham also we have four tickets as dd1 and dp were joining us but we would be happy if we just had two seated tickets. Long standing poster here. Feel like I've made and ruined dd's Christmas in the space of a few days.

aazaya · 12/01/2024 16:36

The viagogo website is incorect. It shows ticket options in standing as "no under 14". I carefully bought the correct ticket and when the email came trhough it had conflicting info.
This is from the website before purchasing:
Section: Floor Standing
Unrestricted view.
No Under 14s
Under 16s accompanied by an adult.
Standing Only

And this is from the email after purchasing:
Event: Olivia Rodrigo
Ticket(s): Section Floor Standing, Row
Listing Note(s): Under 16s accompanied by an adult
Date: Friday, May 17, 2024 | 18:30
Event Restriction: Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Over 16s only in the standing area
I've been trying to get a refund but wonder if we should just give it a go. it's an expensive gamble!

Olivia Rodrigo tickets - too young for standing!
Mumnamedvicky · 14/04/2024 19:23

Olivia Rodrigo tickets.... purchased x3 standing tickets for the concert at the co-op manchester for myself and 2 daughters..Small print wasn't clear at all on purchase that under 16s are not allowed in the standing area. Brought in a rush as timed me out once then payment item crashed so 3rd attempt was the tickets I could get within price range. Never even thought about checking age restrictions 😔 only just been told about the standing age restrictions today.
Wanting to know if there is anyone out there willing to swap x3 standing tickets for x3 seated for Friday 3rd May @co-op manchester.

MidnightPatrol · 14/04/2024 19:36

Most 16 year olds aren’t going to have ID anyway.

How would they know, teenage girls can often look far older anyway.

Lavender1974 · 12/05/2024 21:14

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to say that I took my (tall and older looking) 11 year old to Olivia concert in Birmingham on Friday with Standing tickets. I got them last minute on Twickets and they were for standing but I decided to risk it. It was a complete non issue and we were through in under 30 seconds with no questions asked. There were definitely young girls there who did not look 14. Concert was awesome!

nickykita · 13/05/2024 10:46

thank you for this
i wonder if anyone else has had experience of that at o2. We are going on Tuesday and have only just noticed the over 16 condition. Paid a fortune for VIP, non refundable so just going to have to go and chance it..my daughter is 15 and looks 16 but so nervous thinking what if we get refused entry?

Lavender1974 · 13/05/2024 16:25

I can’t say for sure but I honestly think you will be ok. I can’t tell you how nervous I was last Friday! But it was completely fine. It’s a little bit sad because it kind of spoiled the build-up but the excitement when we got in made up for it. It’s actually difficult to think of what ID could be used anyway if a young person doesn’t have a passport. Birth Cert doesn’t have a picture so what else is there? It didn’t feel at all unsafe in the standing area and was fab atmosphere.

Overrunwithlego · 13/05/2024 16:46

My DD and her friends went on Saturday to Birmingham (seated) - 13 but have to be 14 to be unaccompanied. They weren’t ID’d or anything - I mean what ID can a child under 17 have apart from a passport, and who in their right mind would send them to a concert with a passport. One parent watched them go in and would have vouched for them being 14 if they had been challenged.

Hi Nickykita were you able to get into the standing area at the 02 for Olivia Rodrigo? We are going on Friday this week and have same VIP standing area tickets and wondered if they were strictly checking for over age 16 or not? Like everyone else have booked hotel, train and paid a fortune for non-refundable tickets so am planning on just going for it, but would be great to hear how strict they are being on age limit. Thanks in advance and hope you had a great time at the concert.

Hi. We went last night. Standing tickets they are checking EVERYONES ID. If you don’t have ID to prove you’re 16 they are not letting you in. We were sent to a queue to try to get seats. After an hour and with 5 minutes until it started we got tickets that were seated. Apparently they were asking people who had seats to swop to standing

MotivationalEater · 15/05/2024 08:23

It's not the venue it's their insurers. Pits can be dangerous places you need to be robust in case of a crush situation.
