Olivia Rodrigo tickets - too young for standing!

Urhhnnnnggghh, just went through the traumatic process of registering, queuing, panic buying on ticketmaster for Olivia Rodrigo tickets next year. There were no seated tickets coming up, despite the sale having been open for less than a minute, so I panicked and bought four standing tickets.

Only once it was all done, did I go back through to take time to read the info about the event, and I see that standing is for age 16+ only. My dd (and her friends) will be 14.

Can't return the tickets, can't buy different ones now as could only buy 4 max, I was lucky to get a code to purchase anyway as lots didnt manage to get even that, but I've nobbed it!

Not much I can do now is there? I'm so gutted, my dd loves Olivia Rodrigo with the raw passion that I had for Take That back in the day. I was so excited to be able to try for these tickets for her.

Does anyone know if they are v strict on this age restriction at the O2? Would they be asked for ID?

My daughter went to the O2 this week with her friend. I escorted them but didn’t go in. My daughter who is 15 got asked for ID which she provided and was okay. Her friend who is taller and looks older didn’t get asked but is actually 14. If she had been asked then I think they would have refused entry.

What ID did she show?

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 08:42

Passport

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 08:45

A photo of her passport. Sorry not clear.

So if your 17 year old looks 18 you might be fine…..

Thisismynewname123 · 18/05/2024 08:54

@Jubilee1978 that's what I'm counting on. It will be devastating otherwise

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 09:50

In hindsight I didn’t realise how lucky we got with them not asking her friend for ID. They were going in via the quieter entrance (H) and so if they had been refused we might have tried a different entry point.

Do you know how thoroughly they checked the id?

OnlyOneAdda · 18/05/2024 09:54

@Thisismynewname123 does your 17 year old have an 18 year old friend they could borrow a driving license from?

I'm assuming they'll be checking you have ID and the date but will they be closely scrutinising the pic..?

Hmm. Considering their year groups, it would be easier for the 14 year old to borrow id to make her 15 (which she will be next month anyway). They're seated tickets so 15 is the age requirement if unaccompanied by an adult

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 10:30

He checked the main DOB in the passport but not the other parts where DOB is hidden (number at bottom for example).

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 10:32

Only other tip is there is a larger OR merch shop actually in the 02 where the other shops are (up the escalator). Closes dead on 8pm though.

Does anyone know if a picture of a passport has been accepted for the VIP standing?

Gizlotsmum · 18/05/2024 12:57

Hoping they focus on month and year not actual day…

Rach45553 · 18/05/2024 13:39

Are you going with them to drop them at the venue? You could maybe ask some other people to escort them in?

Did you manage to get in ok with Vip please? we have the same issue this evening 😬😬

Hi. We went last night (totally amazing!) we were in VIP and I’m afraid they DID want to see some ID. I had a photo on my phone of some ID that I’d ‘edited’ to make them over age limit. They checked it then asked to look at it again (so tense!) and finally said they wanted to check the surname against mine on my driving licence which I had with me. I reiterated I was their mum and they said ‘ok fine’ phew!! Once in the VIP queue (and you do get a bag of goodies too btw!) I saw a few (not many though tbh) kids who looked younger than 16 accompanied by a parent. I think the key thing is to have something to show them, as I did get the impression that if I’d just tried to blag it and hadn’t got some ID at all we would have been turned away! But maybe others have had a different experience. I would say once you get in, stick to the mid/right as you go in as she sang LOADS of songs from there about 6ft away from us! Amazing! And it felt v safe and in crowded in the pit too. Hope that helps and have a great time!

We got ID when we joined the VIP queue. After that, no more security checks apart from for water bottles (only paper cups allowed!). So if she in the queue then she’s fine!

Our right! Not Olivia’s. Go to the first runway thing that is closest to the entrance you walk thru, not the one further away, and then stand on the left side of the first runway thing so you are closest to the main stage, that way have the best view. But to be honest, everywhere in the pit is a really good view. Hope they have fun!

Just to say a lot of arenas are pretty strict about age and verification of it now.

Thisismynewname123 · 18/05/2024 19:23

My girls got in, no questions. I'm so relieved and they're so excited!

Jubilee1978 · 18/05/2024 19:45

Fab to hear they got in. And breathe…..!

Matilda1981 · 18/05/2024 19:48

I went to a gig recently and didn’t realise that it was over 14s for standing until the day before - my dds are 11 and 12, no one checked their ages and we got away with being in the standing area!
