How many fingers can you fit between your teeth (pointless and lighthearted!)?

Random, pointless question following a mundane discussion where my partner claims that I have a superbig mouth and I think it's his that's small... How many fingers can you fit (vertically) between your teeth when you open your mouth as much as you can?

I can put all four fingers there relatively easily, he can only get two there.. Surely he has a small mouth...!?

Surely the size of your hands makes as much difference as the size of your mouth? I suspect that the average man's hand will be quite a lot bigger than the average woman, but a man's mouth will not usually be much bigger than a woman's.

I can fit 3. I have a fairly small mouth and definitely smaller than average hands for a woman.

3, my mouth is small. It was tricky when I was getting X-rays etc for braces!

4 but I'm hyper mobile and can loosen my jaw.

I can fit all four but it’s a stretch, three comfortably

3 easily with a bit of room, but 4 is very difficult - only if I really squeeze my fingers together and stretch my jaw so wide it hurts a bit.

Surely it isn't about how large your mouth is, but how wide your jaw joints can open?

It often depends on the angle of your jaw. Squarer jaws tend to open less wide than downward sloping jaws. OP what angle is your jaw and his?

@PurpleMonkeys No access to proper measuring things unfortunately but a bog standard tape measurer suggested 5 cm :-) So completely within the range you wrote.

Yes, of course it may be more about how much the jaws open, maybe that's what I meant and not the size of the (internal) mouth really...

@anomaly2 Hmm angle of jaws... not sure...I'll have to think about that (looking in mirror and not really sure. Will have to study his later, inconspicuously ;-) )

The middle three on my hand fit perfectly. I have quite skinny fingers and years ago a dentist said I had a small mouth (like a PP I assume jaw space as it's caused issues with my teeth for years and I had braces for a long time to help it).

I think my mouth and fingers are the only small/skinny parts of me though.
