If it’s Russel brand op I’m afraid you’ve had us all 🤣 he’s definitely not an A lister and I can’t think what he could possibly do to make ‘the biggest news story of the year’. Quite a big headline if he was having an affair with say PMs wife for example but I mean I think it’s v v v v unlikely!!! Must be something more serious than Russel Brand surely

I think it's something to do with Sunak. I don't think Dispatches would waste 3 years investigating celebrity sleaze. But Sunak stepped into the limelight 3 years ago.

There'll be lots of articles about RB today whether it's him or not, they know he's being speculated about and so people will be clicking all articles relating to him. They could post an article about him watching paint dry and people would flock to it right now.

This is what I think.

Royals have the UK press in their pockets.

Someone mentioned in this thread seems untouchable, so not them.

RB was yesterday's news a decade ago.

Poloticians not involved in scandals seem few and far between.

Celebrities and scandals are a total snoozefest, unless this is something serious like uncovering a paedophile ring or human trafficking or something else of that level of awfulness then it's going to be a complete let down.

It’s also odd that it’s being billed as the biggest news of the year. It would have to be massive. Comedians being sleazy, perverts is not bigger than all the political scandals and international disasters. It’s not even bigger than national news in the last couple of weeks, Danial Khalife on the run and the xl bullies ban.

Why would dispatches have spent 3 years gathering information about an abdication they didnt know about at the time?
