Read an interesting point that it would be strategic for someone to move to pandering to far-right conspiracy theorists (and thus gain millions of followers and support), so that when something comes out against you, you can claim it's a witch hunt targeted against you by the powers above.

Similar to Andrew Tate and his response to being arrested for sexual assault and trafficking.
