Russell Brand, really? I was hoping it was going to be something that could lead to a general election to bring down this shit show of a Government.

I'm pretty disappointed. When something is touted as the biggest news story of the year, something game-changing, I expect it to be something truly unbelievable. Not "it turns out some celebrities are rapists!".

Celebrities being uncovered as having abused their positions of power is terrible but its not something that warrants a breaking news Channel 4 documentary. This just feels as sleazy as the sleazy celebs themselves.

I was hoping this news story was going to be about some kind of conspiracy emerging as true, or some kind of big hoax or swindle we've all been unaware of.

The broadcast time is later. And according to Twitter channel 4 are prepared to pay any fines regarding indecency due to the video content which is going to be aired!!!

If it is solely Brand related then its a huge let down of a story.

I'm not surprised that he came out denying as he absolutely has the following that eat up every words he says. It isn't going to be damaging to him, bar conspiracy theory shit does he actually have much of a career these days?

I don't think this RB video is connected to the news release we are getting today.

Look at this article from the guardian this morning reporting on RB. Nowhere do they make the natural link between RB and the Dispatches show today, there's no "Brands video comes amidst rumours that a Channel.4 documentary due to be screened later today might...."
It's odd for them to report on RB without linking back to this, so I think they know its separate.
Brand is a notorious attention seeker. He probably just jumped on the timing to get on the front page

Or that they are saying they have something to see how many people would post something saying it wasn’t them showing that they feel guilty about something. Like the guy who admitted to murdering his wife when a skull was found which turned out to be thousands of years old.

RB can't be the big name. Everyone knows about his past.
The other names will be bigger and from the hints in the media it will be linked to an industry or tv programme that consistently failed to safeguard, take complaints seriously. With the other names being mentioned it could be a publishing expose or talent shows expose.

Rumours are it's David Williams, Noel fielding and Russel.

I always liked her but think she comes across as a massive arsehole on her podcast sadly.

Being a massive arsehole and being sexually assaulted aren't mutually exclusive though.

@MoiraRosesBaybay or to see if people would come forward to make accusations? That would be a bit tawdry, although I’m not holding CH4 to higher standards of journalism than anywhere else.

Do you really believe no-one knew the extent of Savile's crimes? I mean, perhaps not every single case, but as a collective? I'd be very surprised if the secret services didn't know all about him given the circles he roamed in and I'll never really believe he wasn't protected from the very top of the British establishment. I suspect there's even (far) more to his story.

As for this shit-show. Whether Brand's guilty of the accusations I don't know. The MSM have done this before with people - Panorama for one, who I always thought could be trusted - but then RB might just be trying to sow his own seeds amongst his fanbase to head it off. I expect they'll have some speculative evidence on him and the story tackles other people.

Either way it's fast moving from story of the year to just another day in seedy-celeb-land.

Where did the rumour start that this news story would be about celebs?

Didn’t NF attack a woman on Twitter for disagreeing with him? In a really relentless, nasty way.

I think he is an example of someone who is genuinely quite clever but who lacks the modesty and the genuine curiosity that you need in order to follow your intellect to the point where you see how little you know.
Genuine intelligence involves recognising the necessity of hard brain work and listening to other people if you want to understand anything more fully. But people like RB feel a bit panicked by that. They gain their self-esteem by endlessly repeating that little-boy thrill they got at school each time they knew an answer that no one else in the class did.

I guess loads of us are like that to some extent, but most of us try hard to compensate for it.

Aliens would be much more interesting than Russell Brand.

Actually, I've become very accepting if the idea of aliens- we seem to be being prepared for it. I don't think I'd be scared at all.

No idea about the females.

I mean every woman in the land has had bad vibes about DW. He gives me the full on shivery heebie jeebies.

ML is also not a surprise. The fact he was exited from BO presenting makes this more likely as obvs C4 have been gathering evidence for some time.

If it does include DJ I think the whole nation will be shocked.

It will be quite sad as presumably people will stop showing his back catalogue which is some of the British comedy greats
