Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage: Are there any other such good value cars like these with a high seat position?

UlezSchmulez · 09/09/2023 18:52

I don't really want an SUV but I do like the high seat position, good legroom and large boot that these cars offer.
Is there any other similar cars that offer these features at similar price?
I'm looking to buy a second hand car for 13/14 thousand, 4/5 years old, 40/50 thousand miles.
Any suggestions appreciated?

Those are probably the best in that range ! I drive one of them. What about a kuga?

Seeline · 09/09/2023 18:56

Skoda karok
Seat Ateca

I had a qashqai - the boot wasn't as big as it appeared once you started trying to get stuff in.

buckingmad · 09/09/2023 18:58

Renault kadjar. We got a 67 plate with 32k miles for £12k in March. It’s a Nissan qashqai with a Renault badge. Just seem to get a lot more for your money than the Nissan.

im 5ft2 with a short body and the seat position is fine for me. Plus a great boot for fitting big pushchair and a medium sized dog in.

We just got a 19 plate Citroen c3 aircross, 20k miles for £13k. Really enjoying it so far. The boot space is considerable!

muchalover · 09/09/2023 19:01

Dacia Duster. I love mine, good size boot I think. Really reasonable price.

Thanks, the Kuga looks worth having a look at.

I liked the Kuga but the boot was disappointing. I went with the Outlander...but I don't like it Confused

The only Seat Atecas I could find in autotrader in my range were 1 litre engines which I suspect would be a bit sluggish with full family and luggage.
The Skoda Karoks look a bit pricier than those I listed but will have a look.

@buckingmad @Nestofcrowes I should have said that I would be nervous buying a french car.
Maybe unjustified....

I looked at all of those, but bought a Vauxhall Mokka X, which I love. It was cheaper than the others but has loads of passenger and boot space, it's great to drive and it's economical.

I bought a 68 plate with 20k miles on the clock for £12k.

Magicisuponus · 09/09/2023 19:24

We’re happy with our Suzuki s-cross - might be worth a look too.

InYourRoom · 09/09/2023 19:26

Just got a Kia XCeed - higher seats (especially against my Fiesta ST Line).

They're certainly well priced.
I'm not sure if the basicness wouldn't get to me. I would like to buy a car that lasts for 10 years so probably willing to spend a bit more for creature comforts.

Mazda cx5? I have the sports version and love it.

buckingmad · 09/09/2023 19:38

@UlezSchmulez we’ve always had vw’s or land rovers before but Tbf it’s been really good so far. We’ve got friends that are on their second and third kadjars (on finance, kept for 4 years then upgraded).

ŁadnaPogoda · 09/09/2023 19:38

I love my Kuga.

Looks good.
There's also a vauxhall crossland and vauxhall grandland which look similar.
If anyone could guide me as to which will have best legroom in the back and decent size boot, that would be much appreciated.

We have a Seat Tarraco! Lovely car with loads of room, and much lower price point than the Volkswagen/Audi that are similar

maximist · 09/09/2023 19:46

I used carwow's comparison site when I was looking - tick the boxes for things you need and it'll suggest cars, then you can scroll down and find details.

Although tbh I ended up with a piece of paper with columns in which I wrote the dimensions and capacity of all the cars I liked the look of, and decided that way...

Flubadubba · 09/09/2023 19:46

Have a Qashqai and love it. It really is the perfect car for our family.

Lds1 · 09/09/2023 19:48

Suzuki Vitara

The xceed is smaller than the Sportage so probably not enough legroom for a family with tall people.

Those I found second hand had 2 litre engines which is probably more than I want. Also a bit pricier.

It looks like the grandland is the biggest.

They're out of my price range on autotrader.
