My worst thing is tarragon. It ruins everything on the plate for me.

Riverlee · 08/09/2023 02:20

Currants in savoury food such as coleslaw

justanothermanicmonday1 · 08/09/2023 02:27

Feta cheese or goats cheese. it's everywhere 🤢

AgentProvocateur · 08/09/2023 02:37

Truffle oil / truffle flavouring. It’s so overpowering and it’s everywhere. I can even smell it from adjacent tables.

Veenah · 08/09/2023 02:39

Jalapenos, picking them out doesn't work they'll have already contaminated the whole dish. I ordered Nachos recently and asked for no jalapenos but when they came out, they were also chopped up into the salsa and guacamole ugh.

Thyme. So many roast dinners ruined by thyme laden stuffing.

Oh gods yes, sweet in savoury dishes is the pits. Way to ruin both flavours.

Another vote for coriander. The minutest particle destroys any dish. It's an evil soapy metal bastard and ought to be outlawed. I've lost count of the amount of restaurant dishes rendered inedible where some eejit has used it as a garnish instead of parsley and failed to mention it on the menu.

I think some people do taste coriander completely differently. It could be the taste buds or the way your brain interprets the taste.

Coriander (or cilantro, as Americans call it) is quite divisive.

Galiana · 08/09/2023 02:42

I'll eat anything as long as it's cooked properly.

Most people can't cook though.

The utter filth that people on MN talk about as dishes is repulsive for the large part.

Wincarnis · 08/09/2023 02:56

G A R L I C !

Silkiebunny · 08/09/2023 02:59

Black pepper just end up tasting it which isn't nice.
Beetroot such a strong horrid taste
Dislike tomatoes and cucumbers other than cooked tomatoes
Garlic can make me feel ill
Feta / goats / sheeps cheese
Pesto
Coffee flavoured things

Love sweet things in savoury and mushrooms, onion, banana, pineapple

Honeychickpea · 08/09/2023 03:26

Pesto, oregano, peppers, onion.
Fucking salad. I’m a vegetarian who very rarely eats vegetables or fruit. Think my body goes into shock if I do Grin
Unless it's pineapple on pizza. I live on cheese pretty much.
And yknow meat or seafood of any kind.

It sounds like you are opposed to flavor.

Well yes, they would be. Did you genuinely expect your own personal batch of salsa, ditto for guacamole? Was it in the sort of price range where that sort of personalization could reasonably be expected?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 08/09/2023 03:39

Garlic

SoundTheSirens · 08/09/2023 03:40

Peas. Something about the texture I can’t stand. They pop up randomly in risottos and rice accompaniments quite a lot and then I end up eating half my dish cold as it takes me forever to pick them all out.

(I dislike beans for the same texture reasons, but they’re generally better behaved and don’t tend to jump out of a bowl of rice yelling “surprise!”)

FTR I love coriander so you can send it all my way.

MintJulia · 08/09/2023 03:46

very hot chilli.

What's the point? I can't taste any of the other ingredients. I might as well be eating cardboard or polystyrene.

MargeIsBack · 08/09/2023 04:15

Can’t eat a dish with any of the following in it:
olives (whole can pick out but sometimes shredded into things)
goat’s cheese
baked beans

BatshitCrazyWoman · 08/09/2023 04:20

Olives
Mushrooms
Sweetcorn

Catsmere · 08/09/2023 04:28

Urgh, yes, sweetcorn!

StellaLaBella · 08/09/2023 04:28

My dad would lose his shit if he ever got some sprigs of parsley on sitting on his food. "Feck's sake! Might as well run outside and grab some grass while they're at it".

MEAL RUINED 😂

It was in a gastropub where I've had Nachos before and the salsa had previously been tomato, onion, garlic. Also previously no jalapeno in the guacamole. It's not a given that they're in salsa and guac, particularly if you're not in a Mexican restaurant. I didn't complain and of course I wouldn't expect that level of personalisation, if when I asked for no jalapenos they had mentioned that they would be elsewhere in the dish I would have said thanks for letting me know and changed my order. It's a lighthearted thread, I didn't think I needed to give every detail of my dining experience to make it clear that I'm not a nightmare customer...

echt · 08/09/2023 04:54

Chipotle as a weird addition outside its natural place. Fortunately in restaurants they seem to trumpet it, so easy to avoid.

Quinque · 08/09/2023 04:59

Chorizo.

blendedfamly · 08/09/2023 05:04

Raisins
Sweetcorn
