One episode in... I need Nessa in my life

My sister in law lives near Barry and it’s now a tradition that when we drive home from visiting we go past Bryn’s and Gwen’s houses and then Mick and Pam’s house a short drive away.

Nope, you're not the only one! I don't get it at all. There's an occasional laugh but I think it's mostly a terrific cast utterly wasted on shite unfunny material

I mean I’m nOt jealous. I have the box set and it’s available to stream so can literally watch it when I want. However I’m not sure why it’s called gavin and Stacey when they are the shitest characters… nessa, pam and Bryn are my faves. I do love the Christmas episodes the most though….

When Smithy's considering suicide by nurofen and Gav tells him he'll need loads. Smithy's worried that if he spends too much on pills he won't be able to afford a holiday.. genius

I caught an episode a few days ago on Dave or Gold or whatever channel shows it now, and was laughing away when the kids came wandering in. It was the scene where nessa is looking for batteries, decides she doesn’t need them after all then comes back 5 minutes later and washes 2 fingers in the kitchen sink. My 9 year old had questions.

James Corden is a dick but he’s so bloody good in G&S that I can almost forgive him. He’s terrible in everything else mind you.

they are the dullest but the whole thing revolves around their relationship, their families and the Barry vs billericay thing

Everything about Gavin and Stacey is glorious…..except for Gavin and Stacey as they are both as dull as dishwater.

It astonishes me as to how the two main characters are the worst ones in the show.

I agree. Such a great combination. In a way I think whilst G and S are obviously the central characters, they aren't meant to be the shining stars - it's more about the wider family and friendship group, and how their relationship affects all of them.

I only discovered Gavin and Stacey about 5 years ago and love it and rewatch it a lot. Off to Wales next week, first stop Barry Island and have splashed out on the 'Official Gavin and Stacey Tour'. 4 hours! Can't wait!

A wonderful comfort show.

I only discovered it during Covid. My nephew recommended it. I totally loved it. The relationship between Gavin and Stacey is just a plot device to bring the two families (and Smithy and Nessa) together.

Love it, but as others have said Gavin and Stacey themselves are rubbish. Pam and Mick are great, also Dawn and Pete, and Dave Coaches. In fact I love Dave Coaches and maintain that he was hard done by re Nessa and Baby Neil
