Omg you lucky thing. Such a great program

LancashireSquirrel · 07/09/2023 21:00

Just wait til you watch the Christmas specials! Always get watched every year in this house.

AuntMarch · 07/09/2023 21:00

I don't like Rob Brydon either, fortunately at the time I didn't have an opinion on Cordon having only seen him in an episode of fat friends my mum was watching once, else I might never have watched Gavin and Stacey. Because I "knew" Smithy first, I've had no problem with it.... does that even make sense?

BusyBees1234 · 07/09/2023 21:09

Best episode is when they meet for the first time

Smithy: "Have you seen the size of it?"

Love this!

HelterSkelter224 · 07/09/2023 21:11

Oh my little Prince!

HelterSkelter224 · 07/09/2023 21:12

Pity James Cordon got so annoying

LauderSyme · 07/09/2023 21:12

Yes I'm jealous!. I binge-watched all of it years and years after it came out and I loved gettng invested in seeing their stories unfold in their world.

So many good jokes and wonderful, warm, superbly-acted characterisations. One of the few TV comedies that's had me dissolved in fits of helpless giggles and also welling up in tears. I might be a bit daft though.

I love Pam and Mick. Would happily watch a series spin off with them !

FettleOfKish · 07/09/2023 21:15

@CremeEggThief I thought that, but DH isn't British so through lockdown I took him on a journey of the British comedy of my younger years.

We watched loads but G&S was the only thing that I loved as much as the first time round, and that he also loved.

Red Dwarf I didn't like as much second time round. Royle family he just didn't get at all... Confused

I wasn't really up for watching it for literally years because so many of the songs triggered bad memories of my prick of an ex "She Moves In Her Own Way" etc then just forgot about it. Saw it on iPlayer recently and thought why not

Arghh I’m massively jealous of you OP with the experience of the rest of the series’ to come. I was really late to the game watching it too, maybe 6 years after it had finished.

Enjoy!!

WhoWants2Know · 07/09/2023 21:17

I think I only watched it in lockdown to see what the fuss was about, but it does make me laugh.

poorbuthappy · 07/09/2023 21:18

I am jealous 😂 and I feel the same way about Ted lasso and Schitts Creek

Yellowshirt · 07/09/2023 21:20

@CocoPlum . I've watched Gavin and Stacey loads but I can't honestly remember Mick in a car park???

Topee · 07/09/2023 21:20

Love Doris!

UneFoisAuChalet · 07/09/2023 21:22

Love this show. Probably my favourite after Father Ted. I can watch it over and over again and laugh as much as the first time.

For us, baby Neil is the same age as our eldest. And we’re also longe distance relationship, so the ‘joining of two cultures really resounded with us, We spent Christmas 2008 at my parents and we so wanted to watch the Christmas special. Can’t watch BBC iplayer abroad so we ended up watching it on YouTube.

If G&S is on, I always tell my baby Neil how he was a baby when it was on 😁 and when we grow up, we’ll be like Pam and Nick and live in their fabulous house (I’m obsessed with their house).

Beezknees · 07/09/2023 21:22

Never seen it, and I won't watch anything with that arsehole James Corden in, so never will. Yes, I'm a miserable cow 😆

rainbowsparkle28 · 07/09/2023 21:22

Ah I love it, wish could go back to watch it for the first time again!

Gro · 07/09/2023 21:24

When you get to the last christmas special remember we had to wait 10 YEARS for it!

Doris on guitar 😁

Yellowshirt · 07/09/2023 21:24

Its a very good watch first time round. I still laugh now watching it on a Friday night occasionally on Freeview.
I've never been able to get into Friends. So many people seem to love it

Tellerium · 07/09/2023 21:24

Missingmyusername · 07/09/2023 20:45

Never seen it😂

Neither have I - I've heard good things but... I really don't like James Corden.

Floralnomad · 07/09/2023 21:26

Definitely not jealous - I have seen it but I find it a bit cringey.
