Got through the entire pandemic, both kids and ex H all got sick, I was immune! Or so I thought.
Felt suddenly feverish yesterday, did a test, negative. Up in the night with proper fever, aches and pains etc so did another test today. Immediate positive result.
For fucks sake!! I'm starting to wonder who I pissed off in a former life. My car has just failed its MOT, and I've been diagnosed with a chronic illness. I'm a LP and money is so fucking tight.
Argh. Sorry just ranting.

Rant away. List everything that is annoying you. I'm angry a lot these days but I find a good moany rant helps !

RavingStyle · 06/09/2023 10:10

Covid's a bastard.
I tested positive the day before my summer holiday last year and had to cancel.
I hope you make a speedy recovery.

RoseAndRose · 06/09/2023 10:12

Yes, lot of covid about at the moment.

Rest, fluids and take your time to recuperate properly

ErnestMilton · 06/09/2023 10:17

I don't understand what you're making a fuss about? You've got Covid, yes, but aren't we supposed to just be getting on with it now? At work (public sector) we've been told to come in unless we're too ill.

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 10:18

@ErnestMilton because I feel unwell? Is that not enough?

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 10:20

Thanks to those with supportive comments, I know it's not the end of the world but it does feel a bit personal! Oh well hopefully this is the end of the crappy news.

I had it for the first time a couple of months ago. Fully vaccinated etc but felt rubbish for days - really wiped me out.

scaredydog2 · 06/09/2023 10:24

Same here though I'm negative now. Wiped me out and I was sure I'd never catch it after missing it for so long

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 06/09/2023 10:29

Me too OP! I’ve had a stinking headache for a few days, just last night started with fever and all over body aches along with a sore throat. Luckily I’m on annual leave until Monday so don’t have to worry about going out as I feel awful! Hope you’re feeling better soon OP.

Namechangedagain3 · 06/09/2023 10:31

I’ve just recovered from bout number 6!
I was really unwell (again). I’ve asked for another booster and offered to pay for it but I’m not eligible 🙄

PinkRoses1245 · 06/09/2023 10:32

You’re ill. People get ill. Covid is irrelevant. How is getting angry going to help

gazebobean · 06/09/2023 10:34

I understand exactly how you feel OP, rant away!

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 10:38

@Namechangedagain3 6!!! What have you done in a former life to deserve that?!
Sorry to all the other patients. Sending you soothing pats and sympathy, if you're anything like me that's all you'll get!
I've definitely been sicker with other bugs but I feel particularly insulted that I have dodged Covid for so long only for it to ambush me now!

I work in healthcare and the advice has just changed again. If you’re too Ill to work stay off as you would have done prior to covid, if you have just got a sniffle mask up and get to work 🤷‍♀️

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 06/09/2023 10:39

Of and we aren’t testing anymore either only patients in hospitals with symptoms no routine testing or testing if symptomatic for the rest of us

CrunchyCarrot · 06/09/2023 10:40

Sorry you are feeling this way OP. I know what it's like to have chronic illness and then get Covid on top of it! Happened to me last September. Hopefully it won't be too bad for you. Rest up and drink plenty of fluids.

Do you want to share your diagnosis? Perfectly fine if not.

Escalateandcreate · 06/09/2023 10:44

I hadn’t last week. It was horrendous. Anyone who says it’s just a cold either hasn’t had it or is lying! Get better soon.

Figment1982 · 06/09/2023 10:51

Get better soon OP. I was like you, had got through the entire pandemic, super smug.. and then caught in 3 weeks ago. The actual chills/headache etc were fine, but now I am left with vertigo and severe brain fog... which could not have come at a worse time, as I am due to start my own law firm next week 😥Hoping my brain comes back soon!

My advice is get as much rest as possible (difficult, I know!)

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 10:59

Oh no @Figment1982 I mean there's never going to be a brilliant time to get Covid but seriously that's awful!
My diagnosis is haemochromatosis. Perfectly manageable but it's not under control yet so I still have all the symptoms from that, ie exhaustion, aches and pains especially in my joints, etc. So that plus Covid is super fun.

Can I join in?!
I've got it now, really unwell with it.
Got rushed to hospital burning up, but not COVID symptoms, had loads of tests ECG etc. Nobody wearing masks (myself included) been there hours before a COVID test done. Positive result everyone wearing masks, but I could go home.
Came home slept around 18hrs a day for first three days.
I've had COVID before but nothing like this, still feel dizzy, pins and needles, can smell everything, food tastes horrible and I'm so tired.
It's weird how it reacts differently, some ppl slightly ill others completely wiped out.

Ah! Haemochromatosis, I recently did a blood test for the genes involved, as I was a little suspicious I might have something going on there. Turns out I am a carrier. I hope you are having venesections? Yes it is a big deal to have to get your head around that, then on top of it get ill with Covid too.

Be careful who say that to though.

Because if it’s one of ‘those people’ who struggle after a very mild case of covid, it won’t go down well. You know the people who end up with severe heart problem, diabetes, high blood pressure, extreme tiredness, shortness of breath etc etc

You know like no one would ever have said to someone ‘oh you have the flu. And what? Why are you making a fuss about that?’ When we all know that 1- you feel crap with it and 2- it often lasts a full week.

@Spookymormonhelldream rant away.
I hope you’ll feel well soon.

@Figment1982 , that’s a crap timing!

But please take it easy, as easy as you can to help your body heal. The next 3 months will be the most critical for you’re health.

Ive developed POTS (lightheaded, brain fog, tiredness, GI issues etc….) after covid so I’m now on medication normally used for severe heart issues :(

Spookymormonhelldream · 06/09/2023 11:16

@Lifeetc welcome! God it sounds like you've really been through the wringer with it! It's really not just a mild illness for some people.
I hope you're on the mend soon Flowers
