Glastonbury is seriously overrated.

Monty Don is not a particularly good gardener.

The first person to eat a whelk should really have kept quiet and not told anyone.

I'm with you on Glastonbury. I went once, and although I enjoyed bits of it, it was seriously overrated in my opinion. And ridiculously expensive and physically uncomfortable.

I love whelks though! Though the price of them these days is insane. Because there isn't much of a market for them in the UK as your opinion isn't that unpopular 😆

LadyMuckingabout · 05/09/2023 16:06

Some right weird posts here. I am not some cult member (hmmm… funny that - there were accusations of being in a cult from a similarly-named poster on another thread…) but saying Do Not Spout Ignorant Crap.

I have seen Star Wars several times. I hate Star Wars. But if someone said, I dunno, Darth Vader was an Ewok I’d think they were a bit ignorant, especially if they had a sneering tone.

TheSkull · 05/09/2023 16:15

You can have knowledge of a film and an opinion without having to watch it especially if it’s over hyped and clips of it are shown and quoted endlessly.

IHeartGeneHunt · 05/09/2023 16:22

I knew a man who would eat frozen whelks as if they were ice lollies.

Gladiator is a terrible film.

I don't like Julie Andrews.

Ricky Gervais isn't funny in anything.

Chocolate in the fridge is madness.
The only cold chocolate that's nice is the one on Magnum choc ices.

FKATondelayo · 05/09/2023 16:33

@DappledThings

Thanks for explaining that. I had not long finished reading my, 'Janet and John' books.

How come Baby went to a backstreet abortionist if she was keen about not being in the corner ?

Baby didn't get an abortion, Penny did. Baby helped raise money for a doctor after Penny got an infection from a back street job.

I have never been able to look a whelk in the face. And that is coming from someone whose parents were Londoners (not east end but not far off) and we used to go to Southend for days out when I was a kid in the 60's. All those stalls on the sea front selling winkles, cockles, mussels, jellied eels - and yes, the dreaded whelks. Cockles I could just about force down with a load of white pepper on top, but the rest... bleugh. <shudders>

SlippinJanie · 05/09/2023 16:42

Endeavour is better than Morse

Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad

Room temperature chocolate is disgusting; get it in the fridge or better
yet the freezer.

Drag acts are vile shite & should be treated with the same disgust as the black n white minstrel show ("blacking up" for those under 58).

Point 1 - arrest me and read me my rights 😂

If only! It's not in the spirit of the thread but how can taking a large animal that could be dangerous in traffic be considered to be a sensible choice, for both animal, rider and traffic? Truly selfish and baffling.

stayathomer · 05/09/2023 16:54

Tat is not always tat
mobet as a present for kids from other kids is somewhat depressing
decluttering can be a terrible thing (from the daughter of a too tidy dm that got rid of waaayyy too much of my childhood memories!!)

stayathomer · 05/09/2023 16:55

not mobet- money !!

Maireas · 05/09/2023 16:56

What is mobet?

Sorry! You corrected. I couldn't work it out!

Baileys is an abomination 🤢

JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain · 05/09/2023 17:06

Take That are the most overrated band from the last 30 years. Manufactured boyband drivel. File alongside One Direction and countless others.

Baileys is the only alcoholic drink I like.

Firstly horses were on roads well before cars. Secondly, horses are trained and desensitized to traffic (however they are still animals with their own minds so I appreciate they won't always behave in the way we think they will) and thirdly, if people didn't drive like absolute arseholes and gave horses the respect they should have on the roads it would be a lot safer for everyone. Instructions are even in the highway code in how to pass horses (section 215).

All that said, you are allowed your rant and to dislike whatever you want. It would be a boring world if we were all the same ☺️

Sorry. Kylie is NOT a Minotaur. It's meant to say Minogue.

I laughed far too much at Kylie being a minotaur and thinking about what you've been writing previously for Minogue to change to Minotaur 😂

toadasoda · 05/09/2023 17:32

OK I'm going to just say it.... gay men are totally over represented in the media and on TV and film in my opinion, both real personalities and fiction characters. There may be a reason for this, maybe a propensity for talent in entertainment? I admit most of my favourite TV personalities are gay men. But if there is such overrepresentation of TV personalities then why also the over representation in fictional characters. As far as I can see on sitcoms about 1 in 3 or 4 characters is a gay man. This makes absolutely no sense to me.

On the same point, I hate the the way gay men are stereotyped as vain shallow creatures who want to talk about fashion. Maybe this has changed recently but I still see the stereotype, it must be mortifying for intelligent gay men. And there is also the presumption that they are all extreme liberals who support every liberal movement, they are just people FFS who have a particular sexual orientation, it doesn't make them anything. They are just as likely to be religious, or conservative or anything for that matter, they are just people.

Considering the blithering rank stupidity of 99% of car drivers when anywhere near horses, you may have a point. Commercial vehicle drivers tend to be much better.

In other news: roads were invented for the horse and cart.

Very lighthearted. JFC these threads are so predictable.

Goodness, she does, doesn't she! I'd never seen that before. Both very attractive women.
