£6.00 for 2 individual prawn cocktails, and they were on offer !!!!

OP posts:

So shop somewhere else then.

Co op is a large corner shop - you pay for the convenience.

Some of their offers are great. Most are corner shop prices.

BeakerCupSaucerEggs · 03/09/2023 06:43

They’re hardly known for their budget prices.

Watchkeys · 03/09/2023 06:46

Yes, food prices have gone up. It's the same for everybody.

What are you hoping for from the thread?

CherryogDog · 03/09/2023 06:52

Totally agree with you @portocristo
The freezer deals are cheap but that's about it.
And the weekly offers on the app are always for something I bought last week and I don't need.

Robotalkingrubbish · 03/09/2023 06:55

We only use our local Co-op for emergencies, like needing chocolate. 😂

Autieangel · 03/09/2023 07:03

It's not where you do your big shop. Go Aldi or Lidl for that. Coop is quick and easy hence why it's more expensive

Willmafrockfit · 03/09/2023 07:04

they do have some deals,
they are my local corner shop - took over the pub.
very popular

buzzlightyearsgloves · 03/09/2023 07:05

It is super expensive but sooo convenient! They do have some good deals like the freezer one.

isthismylifenow · 03/09/2023 07:08

Make your own prawn cocktail then. It's a ready made food.

Mammillaria · 03/09/2023 07:12

I hear you OP! They took over our village shop a couple of years ago and their prices were a real shock to everyone.

Fine for those of us with cars who can drive the 8 miles to the nearest supermarket, but unhelpful for the many elderly residents who can't.

teenysaladandsniffofarose · 03/09/2023 07:13

Jesus are some people on this thread trying to be difficult arseholes?

The OP is stating a shop is expensive.. which co op is.

No need to tell her to not shop there, I highly doubt she'll be doing her full weekly food shop at the co-op🙄

EyOopDucky · 03/09/2023 07:13

Same price as waitrose
Get ye to Iceland- their food is good

How very helpful. I'm sure Op had never thought of that genius idea.

@teenysaladandsniffofarose

Wrong side of the bed?

guiltyfeethavegotnorythym · 03/09/2023 07:23

I wouldn't buy groceries from the co-op in my road , milk maybe . Too expensive .

Wow , it's kicking off early on here

Exactly the same here. It is the only food shop in town otherwise it's an eight mile round trip by car. The only bus option is one an hour for a 12 mile round trip to a Sainsburys Local which doesn't appear to offer Nectar prices. I really feel for those without cars and not able to access online deliveries.

Tilllly · 03/09/2023 07:31

They do decent fairtrade wine for about £6

And their cat food is acceptable to my 3

They must wonder about me, always buying wine and cat food 🤣

starpatch · 03/09/2023 07:34

Agree with you OP I walked in there the other day because I was working and caught out without a lunch, I had to walk out again and do without.

FlyingFlamingo · 03/09/2023 07:36

We have 2 within walking distance and I used to go there a lot, the offers on the loyalty card are generally good but lately their fresh food selection is awful, the bakery section is covered because it’s so empty! It’s the same for both of the local ones and my friend tells me it’s the same in the one near her…is anyone else finding this?

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 03/09/2023 07:37

The shops are so shabby too ime. Even the new one on our high street looks rundown now.

Willmafrockfit · 03/09/2023 07:37

tesco express is also expensive

i go to the coop because i can walk there and if it is not worth the petrol driving to a supermarket

waitrose is also expensive!

You had to do without? What was your budget?

AlltheFs · 03/09/2023 07:39

Our nearest actual supermarket is a co-op! Not a small shop, it’s a large store. Very expensive. Worse than Waitrose.
