Just ran out from under the sofa I’m sitting on. Ninja fast. Stood right in front of the only exit and bloody flexed it’s massive steroid pumped legs. Fuck! I feel sick. And there’s the whole of September to go!

Pfft! Might as well have been. With eight hairy celery sticks attached. Vom.

They are useful in that they eat flies and I hate flies more than I detest spiders. Tbf they don’t worry me at all, as I’ll put them outside if I find them in the house/ bath/ sink. Unless the dog eats them first….

PowerTulle · 26/08/2023 21:53

I just can’t. I mean I know we’re supposed to do the right thing and let them go and find a mate behind the curtains or whatever. But fucking hell.

Potatoes eat flies?😆

DarkPsy · 26/08/2023 22:04

Collect every cellar spider you lay eyes on and welcome it into your home. They eat the mindflayer steroid spiders.

PowerTulle · 26/08/2023 22:09

What’s a cellar spider Dark? Are they the spindly floaty ones?

Bound to be someone. They've only got themselves to blame for any willy-related damage, though - sheer recklessness.

Ftumch · 26/08/2023 22:17

Do cellar spiders really eat the big bastard fast ones?

PowerTulle · 26/08/2023 22:19

I have to confess to throwing a hefty magazine at it. Assume it went out the open door, as it wasnt under the zine when I finally plucked up the courage to pick it up, and it didn’t run back into the house.

That spider’s willy could be destroying someone’s delicates right now.

@PowerTulle i just had the same conversation with DH- I swear they’re extra fucking huge this year. We just saw a huge one when we opened our living room door, to the point where I audibly gasped. DH hit it with a shoe which did NOTHING to it. We sprayed it with raid which didn’t kill it! We finally got it on the third attempt and I’m still hyperventilating from the whole thing

NyanBinaryJohn · 26/08/2023 22:21

Maris Spiper is inspired Grin

I'm no help. I have cats so see few spiders.

fabmaccawhackyrhumbsaloft · 26/08/2023 22:25

I watched a documentary spider experiment a few years ago where they had a spider house

Cellar spiders are cannibals

I actually don't like them as a species much they have a habit of dropping Down without warning . I've a spider living in the corner of my bedroom and he's doing a fine job of eating the damn clothes moths , he never wanders far and he's a welcome guest .

The really big house spiders do freak me a bit but I won't kill them . They get put in the shed however I noticed a cellar spider in there the other day and wondered where my resident tarantulas had gone .....

StSwithinsDay · 26/08/2023 22:26

I've just put one out in the garden - 2 inches wide. They are harmless.

Mum2jenny · 26/08/2023 22:30

They really don’t bother me.

Cannibals as in eat other types of spider or cannibals as in eat other cellar spiders? This is important information, please be specific 😂

PowerTulle · 26/08/2023 22:36

It’s the shock isn’t it EarthSong?! This one was a good 3.5 inches I reckon. Absolutely brazen. Gave no fucks.

We didn't get any big ones last year so I’d sort of forgotten the AARGHhh of them.
