Just ran out from under the sofa I’m sitting on. Ninja fast. Stood right in front of the only exit and bloody flexed it’s massive steroid pumped legs. Fuck! I feel sick. And there’s the whole of September to go!

Huh
I have 3 cats
And multiple spiders

Useless 🐱 🐈 🐈‍⬛

Not all cats are natural born spider eaters 🙄 I guess I'm lucky with the ones I've had over the years 🙂

WetBandits · 27/08/2023 00:10

Get a cat! I have three, they deal with spiders before I ever have to encounter them and then vomit up the dismembered bodies as proof

CallieQ · 27/08/2023 01:01

Spuds?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 27/08/2023 09:53

@PowerTulle It depends when you ask for little kitten. When she’s playing nice on her tower? No. When at 3am she’s climbing the bed headboard and launching herself into dd’s crib. Bloody welcome to the fecker 😂

No spiders in kitchen this morning! I keep checking floor when I go in though.

misssunshine4040 · 27/08/2023 11:47

@PollyCreo wow!!!!!! What the hell that looks terrifying!!!

GoFaster83 · 27/08/2023 11:57

My dog is an excellent spider killer. She doesn't mean to be however. She just biffs them with her giant feet for fun and then they stop playing and she looks at me like the spider is being a dick and ignoring her. I try to get her out the room if there's one on the floor because I know accidental death is on the cards

GoFaster83 · 27/08/2023 11:58

And as creepy as their legs (and probably their willies) are. I don't want them dead

PowerTulle · 27/08/2023 12:19

@BellaTheDarkOverlord on balance I’d accept the 3am shinnanigins for spid control duties. I’m ready to commence deal negotiations.

Help SOS! I’m home alone apart from 8 year old and 5 month old. I could throw baby at it but it might eat her. I showed kitten who ignored it and walked off 😂

I had a huge baby in my bedroom years ago

You cannot convince me that this thing means me no harm!

MillenialAvocado · 27/08/2023 21:08

I saw one in the living room a few weeks ago the size of my hand... though I have smalls hands so it might've even been bigger. The worst part was it had a bit of stringy dust or cobweb stuck to one of its back feet, and was dragging it around wherever it went. I took me and DS out on a road trip for the day as there was no way I was staying in the house until DH was back from work. Of course when he got back it was nowhere to be seen. I found it about a week later by the sofa, all scrunched up with its cobweb thing next to it. Will consider burning the house down if I see another one like it.

Can someone enlighten me on the spider willy thing? And what it has to do with washing on the line? 🤔 TIA

roseopose · 27/08/2023 21:30

NyanBinaryJohn · 26/08/2023 22:21

Maris Spiper is inspired Grin

I'm no help. I have cats so see few spiders.

I have cats and see all the spiders! Especially at the moment. What are they doing wrong??

An MN peculiarity - if you leave your washing outside overnight not only will it get darked on spiders will rub their willies all over it.😆

Scousemousey · 27/08/2023 21:38

Luckily I brought my washing in already.
Dirty spiders! 🕷️

Craftycorvid · 27/08/2023 22:08

Dunno what that fearsome thing is, @Cowlover89 but it has only six legs so it’s insect not arachnid?

We seem to be invaded by those spindly ones that gyrate wildly if disturbed.

RunningJo · 27/08/2023 22:09

I’ve just said to my DH, it’s spider season already! We’ve had 2 huge spiders this week.

I absolutely HATE them. I know they won’t hurt me, but I am genuinely terrified of them - which I know is ridiculous.

I won’t sit on the floor at this time of year, I feel on constant spider watch as evening approaches. I really wish they didn’t bother me so much

NyanBinaryJohn · 27/08/2023 22:35

@roseopose I think yours are broken.

Yesterday's 3 inch monster has made me wonder if mine are broken too now.

Chypre · 27/08/2023 23:41

I have perfected the vessel+cardboard evacuation technique after I have killed a huuuge spindly one and it had permanently stained the floorboards with some terrible dark muck, which I would mistake for a spider ever since. I don’t risk it now.

Oldraver · 28/08/2023 09:41

I pulled out my Tupperware drawer and one was sitting in a tub so I shoved the drawer back.

When OaH went to investigate it had gone, bet it wzits for me again

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 28/08/2023 11:18

That giant one on my wall disappeared behind radiator. I found it at 5am in a big dead ball on the kitchen floor.

Spider - 0
Kitten - 4

PollyCreo · 28/08/2023 19:32

@Labgo and @misssunshine4040 I used to live near a banana plantation and they used to regularly wander in! The one in the photo was quite small; I once found a much bigger one that I had to trap under a pint glass 😱

PollyCreo · 28/08/2023 19:36

Oh and I have three cats who would just ignore them. I've moved house now but one dcat went through a phase of bringing me 'presents' of dead cockroaches 🙃

PowerTulle · 28/08/2023 21:23

There’s only one thing worse than a really big spid. It’s a really big spid that’s “OMG where’d it go?!!! Seriously where the fuck is it???”

The spid Willy thing is because they wander around around looking for mates at night. And I think they drag their, erm …. bits around to create a scent trail. Bleurgh.
