Best travel/insulated mug

Back to school soon as a TA and on the look out for a new mug. Needs to have a lid obviously and keep my tea warm for a couple of hours ideally. Any recommendations? Currently have a chilli but not overly impressed with it, drips a lot and is a nightmare to take apart and clean!

I find YETI really good and they keep the hot drinks very warm, as do Stanley. Never had problems with either of them leaking!

I love my chillys for the look of it, but it's a desk only cup for me as it's not as leakproof as I like. The others I will just put in my bag and take anywhere!

Contigo

Don't get a Frank, they're crap. Leak and don't keep things hot.

I have a Contigo autoseal one (not sure of the actual model name though) & I regularly chuck it in my bag & have been known to squeal when I burn my mouth as my tea is still blinking hot hours later.

NannyGythaOgg · 25/08/2023 21:38

Contigo like so many others. Hot for ages, totally leakproof AND easy to drink from.

mdinbc · 25/08/2023 21:58

Ditto Contigo. I like the 3rd one that YewandOak posted because of the narrower 'waist' on it for easier gripping.

I don't like those that have a handle, they are awkward to place in a vehicle cup holder. I find a lot of insulated mugs are too large around and tiresome to grip, or won't jam into the netted pocket of a packpack.

These Thermos mugs with a handle (imported from America via Amazon). The handle helps both carrying it and also keeping it upright in a bag. Keeps a drink hot for 6-8 hours comfortably.

I have a contigo and it’s fabulous, doesn’t leak or drip and keeps drinks hot. I also have a Sho cup which keeps drinks hot but isn’t leak proof so it’s a desk cup only, it’s really nice to drink from if I want a hot cup of tea to stay hot while I’m running round sorting the kids out.

Contigo
They are great
Bought a spare couple from Tesco when down to £10 as 3 of us use them daily and good to have spares

Womblegreen · 25/08/2023 22:30

Contigo or Avex - I think they may be the same apart from the branding. Available from A* or Costco.

I like the Zojirushi products.

The contigo ones are amazing! Keep your drink piping hot for hours and no leakage!

BettyOBarley · 25/08/2023 22:43

I have this one, only a cheap one but it keeps my tea boiling for ages!

S’well. Think it’s American but you can get on Amazon. Keeps drinks hot for an amazing length of time

villanova · 25/08/2023 22:46

I confirm the Contigo Byrons - £10 in Asda & others. We have 3, I have to add cold water to drinks as I make them, so that they're drinkable 3hrs later. I've had drinks stay hot overnight.

I also have a lovely Bodum, but it's so old & dented it's not leakproof and only keeps drinks hot for around an hour now, but it has lasted >10yrs of constant use.

EndofDaze · 25/08/2023 22:48

Yeti with hotshot lid. Outperforms my Contigo auto seal by miles.

Legoroses · 25/08/2023 23:06

These all have stainless steel insides though right? So coffee tastes like sucking a coin?

I've got a ceramic-inside-lined cup but it doesn't stay as hot as a Swell does and I don't love the plastic drinking mechanism. But it does taste much much better. Bru I think it's called.

SlowlyLosing · 25/08/2023 23:16

Something to be aware of with the first 2 contigo cups linked above. The hole is at the bottom of a small well so you drink from the well not the hole of that makes sense.

I bought one and I hate it. I drink on the go and in the dark in the cinema and regularly miss my mouth.

The 3rd option looks different though, I might get one.
