Give me a non alcoholic drink that isn’t awful

Just that - got to attend various barbecues etc at the weekend where everyone else will be drinking except me. What can I drink? Non alcoholic wine is awful. Tried nozzeco and hated it, thought about non alcoholic gin but it’s the same price as the real thing so would need to be worth it!

any other ideas? Zero beer is ok but I can’t drink more than one.

thanks!

I agree with the fever tree rhubarb and raspberry. I also like the aromatic flavour. https://fever-tree.com/enGB/products

If anyone is ever in France, this is delicious. Comes in peach and raspberry flavour and seems like a real treat as the bottle is champagne shaped. Only a few euros.

Might order this https://www.frenchclick.co.uk/t-search.aspx?SearchTerm=Boisson+sans+alcool if we do an order of other stuff at some stage of French produce. Idk if it’s nice as is based on non alcoholic cider.

Calerno do a really lovely gin-like non alcoholic spirit. They also have a rum-loke version which is very good with coke.

Grenadine over ice and topped up with fresh orange juice is delicious and refreshing. Maybe try that?

though low-alcohol beer comes much, much closer than the others

Most beer is only about 4 or 5% so it's logical that it's easier to make a drinkable beer without alcohol than something where the original is 40% and depends on the alcohol for its flavour and mouthfeel.

Same as fat-free yoghurt is less nasty than fat-free cream.

Belvoir has a wide range of fizzles... I love their rose and elderflower and cucumber and elderflower...

High Sobriety low alcohol cider is nice. It's 1%.

I actually prefer Gordon's non alcoholic gin to the real thing! I know- I think it's bizarre too!

It depends why you're off the sauce.

I like Martini Vibrante (PP linked above) with tonic water and a slice of orange.
Or tonic by itself with ice and garnish
Or lucky Saint beer
Or Lyres or Zeno non-Alcoholic wine.
(Check out Club Soda on instagram/web).

If not pregnant, you could try Sentia, or Botivo which Grace Dent raved about in the paper this weekend.

@Whataretheodds sorry to jump on this late. Why can't you have Botivo pregnant?

Non alcoholic gin is actually pretty good so for me it's worth the expense. Agree with you re non alcoholic wine, repulsive.

Passingthethyme · 28/01/2024 06:33

Heineken zero alcohol beer is almost passable too, I find the beers are usually ok (if you still want to feel like you're drinking)

converseandjeans · 28/01/2024 12:59

I've never understood the need to drink fake alcohol. If I'm not drinking I would just have Coca Cola or something like Cawston Press or ginger beer.
