Give me a non alcoholic drink that isn’t awful

Just that - got to attend various barbecues etc at the weekend where everyone else will be drinking except me. What can I drink? Non alcoholic wine is awful. Tried nozzeco and hated it, thought about non alcoholic gin but it’s the same price as the real thing so would need to be worth it!

any other ideas? Zero beer is ok but I can’t drink more than one.

Genuine question....if you're not drinking, why do people still lean to non alcoholic versions of stuff? If Im not drinking I'll have lime and soda or a coffee. I find it crazy that we have such stigma about NOT drinking at social events 💁‍♀️

It's not stigma of not drinking for me.
I don't drink coffee and hot drinks are a pain in certain settings.
I don't want to be restricted to Lime and soda for months on end.
I'd like a variety of (grown-up/complex) flavour and texture profiles.
I don't want to have to drink coke or OJ or very sugary drinks all the time.
Sometimes it's nice to have something that feels a bit special or celebratory including something fizzy in a flute when everyone else is having something fizzy in a flute

Given you're on ABs I would be super wary of anything that's even just very low alcohol - my friend was on metronidazole and I didn't know, cooked a cottage pie with some red wine in that had literally been in the slow cooker for 4+ hours and then topped and baked and he was still hideously ill and it only had like a glass' worth in the first place.

When I am not drinking I used to buy Jacobs Creek sparkling wine. I am not generally a fan of alcohol free drinks but this was quite good. It had green tea in it which gave ti a slight bitterness which I liked.

It's been ages though since I have looked for it so I am assuming it's still out there.

There’s a fabulous non-alcoholic bar in Covent Garden called Club Soda - one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had, and all the ingredients for all their drinks are on sale in the bar, or through their website:

I agree that finding non-alcoholic drinks that don’t taste too sweet or otherwise artificial is hard, but just finding a soft drink to enjoy without it needing to replicate an alcoholic one would be the easier (and more affordable) option.

Nothing that’s pretending to be booze. Sparkling elderflower is my favourite, and I recently bought an M&S orange, mango and something, which was lovely.
Also partial to ginger beer!

I don't drink and hate the taste of artificial sweeteners that are in most soft drinks these days. I mostly drink sparking water now, sometimes with a dash of cordial in it.

Pear kopparberg alcohol free tastes exactly the same! Was great when I was pregnant.

Rock shandy is lovely- 3/4 soda 1/4 lemonade- add angostura bitters till it’s pink. No calorie. Non alcoholic, tastes alcoholic though.!

The fruit ciders are very close. Old Mout do a berries and cherries and Kopparberg do a strawberry and lime. Both very nice.

Non alcoholic kopperberg is very much the same as the alcoholic ones. My Dh who doesn’t drink enjoys the mixed fruit one and strawberry and lime.

I think most alcohol free gins are really good. I honestly can't tell the difference between the Gordon's and Tanqueray alcohol free gin.

Mr Fitzpatrick cordials are amazing. Blood tonic is particularly nice- not too sweet, which I find is the problem with most non- alcoholic drinks

Another vote for Alcohol Free Kopperberg Pear....its lovely and hard to tell the difference between that and the normal one.

If I'm at a bar or a restaurant, I don't want a drink I can easily have at home, I want something that's a treat or different. I could drink an orange juice at any time, I want a nice mock aperol in a fancy class with ice and orange.

I like to have a seperate drink to normal basically.

I have the tanqueray 0% gin which is lovely (prefer it to Gordon's). I have it with a dash of grapefruit squash and tonic and it tastes just like Chase grapefruit gin

The only alcohol free beer, that actually tastes like beer, is franziskaner weissbier AF version. It tasted so like the original my pregnant brain couldn't drink it.
I also really like bottle green pomegranate and elderflower cordial with ice and sparkling water

Just tonic water (as long as it is a nice one - doesn’t need to be flavoured). it’s cheaper and the no alcohol gin I tried wasn’t an improvement on just tonic water (it wasn’t horrible, it just wasn’t any nicer).

I do like low alcohol cider.

Non alcoholic kopparberg is lovely, really fruity. I'd assume that most non alcoholic fruit ciders would be the same .
