Most petty reason you have de-friended someone !

Met an old mate yesterday and we were talking about the power of badly behaved kids to ruin “mum” type friendships. Luckily both long past that now.

She said she and her h had been binned by some mates because her H and the other bloke really drunk once , and they think they’d never been forgiven

might be the truth they’ll never know 😂

One person who posted endless political rants . There was nothing but lecturing and ranting. Bitter posts about politicians with pensions when she’s never worked full time in her life. Another for just basically lecturing all his ‘friends’ about God. Nothing else.
Anyone who felt they had to tell the world that they’d had their vaccine . Or telling others to ‘stay safe’.

Clearthinking · 22/08/2023 23:17

And for an old friend who was going through a break up decided to get "revenge" on her partner when he came to collect his stuff by leaving some condoms around that she filled with moisturiser cream in to make it look like she had a good night!!!

IsisoftheWalbrook · 22/08/2023 23:28

I deleted someone for posting endless nonsense from conspiracy theorists. She was a school teacher, which I found a bit worrying. What was she teaching those children? 😬

drunkpeacock · 22/08/2023 23:34

One posted regular Pro-Trump memes that made me cringe.

One would regularly post long political posts that finished with "if you don't agree then delete me as a friend"
We actually had a pretty similar political outlook but I hated the constant need for everybody to agree with her so I deleted her anyway.

One posted a long description about how it felt to die on a ventilator of Covid then completed it with "if you think returning to work is a good idea, think again"
I was a teacher, I was returning to work the next day, I had no say in it...I deleted her.

OoohLaLaLa · 22/08/2023 23:37

Rabidly defending Johnny Depp during the trial. Her posts read as if she thought he could read them and would be grateful for her support.

TheFormidableMrsC · 22/08/2023 23:38

I was unfriended by somebody who was absolutely furious that I kept questioning her made up claptrap during the pandemic. I mean if you're going to post this shit then at least be able to justify it with facts or evidence. Instead she attacked. It was a relief to be honest 🙄

DosCervezas · 22/08/2023 22:22

Was her child even on Facebook? I didn't get Happy Birthday messages to children over Facebook, who clearly won't have an account.

Me either. It really annoys me when family do it. Pick up your phone and WhatsApp them directly.

BlueBlubbaWhale · 22/08/2023 23:40

Obviously mine are all older so do have whatsapp!

Mummyratbag · 22/08/2023 23:42

1 for aggressively defending Boris Johnson during Covid (apparently he was doing his best poor chap and we just needed to leave him the fuck alone)
1 for really nasty post Brexit stuff
1 for telling me how to vote
1 for xenophobia

I'm a doormat in real life - pushing the unfriend button on FB is my safety valve! Actually none of those reasons are petty!

call911 · 22/08/2023 23:42

I’ve distanced myself with people over loads of petty reasons which I guess I see as indicative of their character eg caught in lies/exaggeration, constantly in drama, getting really drunk or emotional, always focused on themselves in conversation etc. I’m happy to be friendly…but I don’t want those people actually in my life so they get delegated swiftly

Disturbia81 · 22/08/2023 23:43

Saw a friend sleazing on a much younger womans photo, that was the end of that friendship for me.

Because I read the girl who loved Tom Gordon, when they told me not to.

Great book though.

I did enjoy that book. It's not my favourite Stephen King, I prefer his older works, but I did like it very much.

I un-friend pronouns in bio’s

Me too. Fucking loons

RantyAnty · 23/08/2023 05:09

Deleted everyone from a certain country on LinkedIn.

Morewineplease10 · 23/08/2023 05:35

@PelvicFloorClenchReminder

Mataland is the winner for me!! 😁

Usernamen · 23/08/2023 06:07

I was fucking sick of going to gay clubs with him as a straight single woman in my 20s so he could pick up men. I was bored shitless.

SnobblyBobbly · 23/08/2023 06:21

I unfriended a Facebook friend with bad sentence structure. Her public posts on our mutual group were absolutely fine but it was as though she became ultra lazy in private messages, sometimes to the point that I couldn't really understand what she was saying/asking me.

If you can't be arsed to speak properly then I can't be arsed to reply.

foolishone · 23/08/2023 06:39

Most of these aren't the petty gripes I was hoping for. They're actual, valid reasons to end a friendship.

Let's have more of the really silly stuff. Like my friend who ended a relationship because the way he ate toast was annoying.

darkestnights · 23/08/2023 07:02

My mega-catholic auntie (!!) unfriended me after I put a celebratory post up on Facebook about the Irish abortion law reform - but not before having a good old argument with lots of my pro-choice friends in the comments section. She made herself look like a right tit. Tbh I should have unfriended her first to keep her Trump blathering out of my timeline.

Blinky21 · 23/08/2023 07:22

I block people who use 'this one' in social media posts

DosCervezas · 23/08/2023 08:55

A colleague I was friends with posted the Sweet Caroline song on their feed last year. I believe this is the worst song ever written. It's beyond cringe, it makes my stomach turn and is also on an advertisement that I consider to be unethical ( gambling). They were swiftly unfriended.

allthehops · 23/08/2023 09:08

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 22/08/2023 21:09

They kept adding a 'd' on the end of Matalan like it was some kind of cheap polyester theme park.

Haha my dm called it Mataland as well. And her "dressing gowned" 😂

Mrsjayy · 23/08/2023 09:11

Rabidly defending Johnny Depp during the trial. Her posts read as if she thought he could read them and would be grateful for her support.

Oh I had a fb friend like this it was very odd and obsessive, I hid her, nobody came out of that trial in a good light .

SpunkyGibbon · 23/08/2023 09:13

They (adult male) wore dungarees as a fashion statement
It was just too much for me

FlibbedyFlobbedyFloo · 23/08/2023 09:16

Posted he was somewhere and I replied "oh, I thought you were meeting so and so this morning"
Turns out he was supposed to be and had forgotten, so after he'd had a massive go at me for attacking him in public, he unfriended me.
Quite glad he did, actually
