Most petty reason you have de-friended someone !

Met an old mate yesterday and we were talking about the power of badly behaved kids to ruin “mum” type friendships. Luckily both long past that now.

She said she and her h had been binned by some mates because her H and the other bloke really drunk once , and they think they’d never been forgiven

might be the truth they’ll never know 😂

Because I read the girl who loved Tom Gordon, when they told me not to.

Great book though.

lionsleepstonight · 22/08/2023 22:04

Had an ex colleague who went vegetarian the vegan and would not stop banging on about it. Fair enough, mildly boring. Had to unfollow once she started sharing hideous videos of abbotoirs etc.

A school mum acquaintance unfriended me on FB because (I found out later from a mutual friend) I didn't wish her child a happy birthday on a post she put on about her child's birthday. I barely knew the child and found the mum very hard work so wasn't bothered. I haven't seen her for a while but when I have run into her since she's perfectly pleasant to my face but I heard that she was very offended by my failure to wish her child a happy birthday.

DosCervezas · 22/08/2023 22:22

Was her child even on Facebook? I didn't get Happy Birthday messages to children over Facebook, who clearly won't have an account.

AmyandPhilipfan · 22/08/2023 22:24

I didn't unfriend her but one FB friend of mine (I went to uni with her) I muted her posts as she always shared horrific images of animal abuse. I agree, it's awful that the animals were abused in that way but I didn't want to have to keep seeing photos of it.

dubyalass · 22/08/2023 22:25

I couldn't stand the revolting pictures of her dinner, coupled with Loyd Grossman-esque descriptions of how it tasted.

Yes there were other reasons, not least that she was a self-promoting pain in the arse and a fairweather friend, but the dinners made me do it, m'lud.

No, her child was about 8 at the time. But apparent it was a terrible slight that I hadn't written a 'happy birthday' comment on her gushing post about her daughter's birthday.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 22/08/2023 22:28

I once got defriended and blocked on everything by someone I considered a very close friend.

This was because I didn't answer a call from her because I was sat at the dinner table with DH and DC and we have a ageing rule of no phones at the dinner table.

I did try explain this but apparently I was an ignorant bitch for not being attached to my phone 24/7.

Why did she tell you not to?

I used to work with someone who would ‘mark themselves as safe’ on Facebook for every possible event, even if they lived 100 miles away.

Unfriended.

😂

PauliesWalnuts · 22/08/2023 22:33

I defriended two for routing MLM shire at me and I’m in the middle of slow-fading one who, despite professing to be a fairly militant socialist has bought a second home in an area where locals and workers can’t afford to buy. I can’t stand hypocrisy.

MaggieBsBoat · 22/08/2023 22:37

Being a TERF (apparently) has lost me friends by the dozen and family members.

i dumped a friend instantly when she told me that my kids are the ok kind of ‚ethnics‘ as they pass for white. Said in front of them. Smooth moves.

I dumped a male friend for telling me that he’s a lesbian with a straight look on his face (no stupid pun intended).

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 22/08/2023 22:40

Once had a fall out with a friend after she shared a post on Facebook about rice cakes containing arsenic.
I made a jovial comment about adding it to the list of things for parents to worry about - but apparently it was not a jovial matter!!

summerytop · 22/08/2023 22:42

She was posting on Facebook about the pandemic as if it was literally just happening to her only, with a day by day detailed diary of what was going on in her house. It just made me realise how self centred she was.

Mrsjayy · 22/08/2023 22:42

I de friended a reacquainted old school friend because she said I couldn't join her "girls nights" but we could meet up separately bugger that! Although for pettiness I deleted her off Facebook but kept her friends so I "liked" " all their stuff and commented on the "girls nights" 😂

Nutterjacks · 22/08/2023 22:45

I completely fell out with an in-law who sent me a pornographic picture which was disguised behind what looked like a genuine government guidance document - which I put on the work group chat 😬

Did my DH send it? That's the kind of thing he does and tells me about afterwards....

fadingfast · 22/08/2023 22:51

Unfriended one for sharing Britain First bullshit. Another who trained as a nail technician and shared endless photos of hideous acrylic ‘designs’.

Agapornis · 22/08/2023 22:51

I dumped a friend because she told me her cool new skirt was from a Small, Edgy Shop in Cool Big City.
Saw the skirt at the local H&M a few week later Grin

Tbf I was fourteen.

SleepPrettyDarling · 22/08/2023 22:54

I unfriended a then-flatmate who borrowed my hair scrunchie; she took it off her wrist to hand it to me and chuckled ‘you might want to wash it first” while winking at her boyfriend 🤮

embroiled · 22/08/2023 23:02

A 'dance mum' whose entire Facebook feed is devoted to praising her three dancing daughters. All faux modesty and 'I'm so grateful' for my 'gorgeous girlies' then a list of what competitions or dance exam they've done. Do fuck off! I don't often swear either!

I didn't want to just hide her and risk her popping up again. Though she did eventually pop up again, as recommended, and her profile (no surprise!) is all public. She's now blocked.

Tedious, boasting, fake woman. Her poor 'gorgeous girlies' are treated like performing seals.

Thanks for letting me rant. Grin

embroiled · 22/08/2023 23:05

I also hid someone who was selling some possible (probable) MLM thing called Tropic, as they were posting endlessly about it.

Thismummyrunstheshow · 22/08/2023 23:11

I unfriended someone I once knew on FB for 'checking into Tesco'.

It's a no from me.

AppletreesAndHoneybeesAndSnowWhiteTurtleDoves · 22/08/2023 23:13

During the pandemic I unfriended a few people who were obsessed with how vaccines are evil and how covid was a scam to de populate the world. From what I've read from others on MN thread, my experience is sadly all too common. It's really a bit frightening to consider so many of us know people like that.

Clearthinking · 22/08/2023 23:14

Mother in law for constantly checking into the Dr's and hospital causing everyone to ask how she is. And asked her children to post happy wedding anniversary on her page so her friends could see it and everyone else could wish her the same thing
