My mother has died and I'm away on holiday

My sister rang. She found her. I'm devastated. I don't know what to do. I feel sick and am in a terrible panic. My beloved mum. Oh god....

I fly home tomorrow. I'm going to be a mess. I left for holiday with a mother. Now I return and she's gone. I'm devastated.

I'm old, and I hope I am wise about some things. One of the things I have learnt is that the things you are scared and anxious about aren't normally the right things. You will cope, so try not to rehearse in your head how awful it is going to be. There will be good things about getting home, and hopefully a support network that you can contribute to. Roll with the punches and you will keep bobbing up. There is nothing to fear except fear itself, to quote a good maxim.
