Cheese and crackers

If you like cheese and crackers what would you recommend? I had some Brie and some goats cheese recently with water biscuits and really enjoyed it, but don’t know where to start with other cheeses. I don’t like blue cheese like Stilton. Any recommendations?

I just like a thin slice of cheddar with a thin slice of apple. And I like high bake water biscuits.

Northernsouloldies · 20/08/2023 21:36

Cornish wafer with a smoked cheese.

bellac11 · 20/08/2023 21:37

Has to be jacobs cream crackers

Every type of cheese under the sun, too many to pick favourites but good cheddars, brie, Lord London, pecorino, manchego, hard goats cheese not soft, things like lancashire/caerphilly or double gloucesters, just too many to mention
Butter
Tomatoes, grapes, chutneys, slices of onion, pickled onion, slices of cucumber

Cream crackers and wensleydale with cranberries. Yum

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 20/08/2023 21:37

Plain old Jacobs cream crackers remain a fave in this household.

Black bomber cheddar.
Harlech cheese is amazing.
Hereford hop is so good.
Try a white Stilton?

Have you a local deli/farm shop, go and have a word with them.

I also used to be able to eat a whole mozzarella ball with slices of tomato. Cant do it now but its addictive.

hecktoe · 20/08/2023 21:38

Doesn't matter for me as long as there is chutney!

BarbaraofSeville · 20/08/2023 21:39

Yarg
Truffle Brie
Wensleydale with ginger and mango in
Cornish wafers - buttered

bellac11 · 20/08/2023 21:39

OMG how could I forget Wensleydale

Emmenthal, an aged gouda, or tallegio is amazing?
I do adore anything that stinks though

Carsarelife · 20/08/2023 21:39

Hovis Crackers and cheddar
Cream Crackers with butter and cheddar
All the different Philadelphia cheese spreads

bellac11 · 20/08/2023 21:40

YARG!!!

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/08/2023 21:42

Shropshire Blue is nicer than Stilton, and Saint Agur's inoffensive too, but if you really don't like veined cheeses, I'd go for a proper mature Cheddar, Brie or Port Salut. A fruity chutney or chilli jam with it would be lovely. I like digestive biscuits as crackers but oat crackers are nice too, and a sliced apple and some grapes.

EwwSprouts · 20/08/2023 21:51

Smoked red fox leicester is a bit stronger but still a smooth taste.
Jarlsberg is rubbery like Edam but has a better taste.
I like water biscuits, poppy seed crackers or Jacobs flat crisp breads with seeds.

Bake a whole camembert and dunk carrot sticks and celery.

Bluddy hell! Here I am trying to decide if it's wrong to have a cheese and crackers snack before bedtime, and along comes this thread.

Temptation overload!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/08/2023 21:55

Extra mature Cheddar
Oatcakes, Cornish wafers, table water crackers - but all crackers are great

Shrinkingviolet6 · 20/08/2023 21:56

My absolute favourite cheese is Wensleydale with cranberry (preferably from Morrisons)

SquigglePigs · 20/08/2023 21:56

Port Salut is delicious.

Black bomber is a fabulous punchy cheddar.

Somerset brie is lovely and creamy.

Camembert in the oven with breadsticks and things to dip into it can be a thing of beauty!

grapesandplums · 20/08/2023 21:56

I made some 'hot honey' recently by boiling honey and chilli flakes and it is seriously good drizzled on any cheese and cracker combo. Although I have to say, my favourite combo is a blue Brie on a hovis cracker with hot honey!! 10/10 recommend

Nigella (Kalonji) seed biscuits - totally gorgeous! I used to buy them in Waitrose (own brand), but haven’t been able to buy them in my closest store for a couple of years, so I’m guessing they’re discontinued, but I’m sure other retailers must sell biscuits with these seeds.

Rosemary biscuits (Co-op’s own brand). I tried Sainsbury’s ones and the texture was awful.

Membrillo (quince paste).

Bleu d’Affiniois.

Issau Oraty.

Manchego.

Goat’s Gouda.

bryceQ · 20/08/2023 22:08

If you have access to an m&s they do a mini cheese board with 3 or so options it's really delicious and small ish so not like buying a huge block

40andlovelife · 20/08/2023 22:16
