DH - Petty annoyances

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 20/08/2023 17:52

I'm not a journalist - lazy or otherwise so piss off Daily Mail.

Following on from another thread re petty things that get you riled up . . . Every time I make a cheese sauce I have to grate a third more than required in anticipation that DH will do many a 'drive by' and swipe loads.

Hardly a major issue - even though strong cheddar we buy has security tags!

DH does not switch off and unplug the toaster every time he uses it 🤬🤬🤬

WingedHermes · 20/08/2023 17:58

@DustyLee123 why would he need to?

quietlycontent · 20/08/2023 17:59

DH locks front door with a key leaves walk 3 or 4 steps away then returns to make sure it's shut ffs!!

WingedHermes · 20/08/2023 17:58

@DustyLee123 why would he need to?

Because he’s finished using it. I don’t see why I should do it for him.

Youdontsay87 · 20/08/2023 18:03

Husband gets up in the middle of the night turns on hallways light crashes through to bathroom takes a loud one eyed pee then burps before crashing back into bed leaving the hallway light on, and me wide awake 😤

Youdontsay87 · 20/08/2023 18:03

@DustyLee123 why would you need to unplug it??

I don't think most people switch off and unplug a toaster...

CurlewKate · 20/08/2023 18:06

@DustyLee123 "Because he’s finished using it. I don’t see why I should do it for him." I can't leave this! Why do you have to unplug the toaster?

So you’d go out and leave it plugged in ?

CurlewKate · 20/08/2023 18:07

@DustyLee123 "So you’d go out and leave it plugged in"

Yes. See also kettle....

UsernameChang · 20/08/2023 18:07

DH does this thing when a song comes on. He hears a couple of notes from the intro and then starts singing the song before the singing is supposed to start and then once the singing starts he starts all over again. It also won't be in time with the music sometimes.

Don't know why but it really annoys me! We were stuck in traffic for over 2 hours on an already long car journey last week so I was exposed to this weird behaviour of his for many more songs than usual. But like, what can I say?! DH STOP SINGING TOO EARLY?! I would sound so insane 🙈

I turn it off at the wall.

Theunamedcat · 20/08/2023 18:09

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 20/08/2023 18:07

do you also unplug the washing machine?

No because the socket is behind the machine like the cooker I do switch it off like the cooker at the wall

Same but I have a security gate so he can't get to it 😂

My DH can take untidiness to new levels and he is Lord High Commander of the Use Every Utensil people. How the man needs three spoons to make a cup of sugarless black coffee is one of life's greatest mysteries.

Duckingella · 20/08/2023 18:14

The next street along has no driveways at the front of their houses;one half of the street has road access to the back of their houses.

Every single time we drive down said street DH starts whining about how people don't park at the back of their houses or how the other half of the street won't put in driveways.

Ffs people are allowed to park on their own bloody street if they chose to.

DH's weird bee in his bonnet about this pisses me off.

thinkkook · 20/08/2023 18:15

Baffled at unplugging the toaster after every use! Never do this except when we going on holiday for some reason.

DH always puts dirty dishes in the sink when the dishwasher is right there... and also has to have a clean cup for every cup of tea ☹️

Topseyt123 · 20/08/2023 18:16

DustyLee123 · 20/08/2023 18:06

So you’d go out and leave it plugged in ?

Switched off, but still plugged in, yes. Ditto for the kettle. I don't think you need to worry about that.

Topseyt123 · 20/08/2023 18:19

DustyLee123 · 20/08/2023 18:02

Because he’s finished using it. I don’t see why I should do it for him.

So don't do it. It doesn't need to be done. I just turn ours off on the wall every night before bed, and the same for the kettle.

HarrietofFire · 20/08/2023 18:20

It would drive me mad if my do started switching off and unplugging things. Everything left plugged in and switched on in this house!

NancyPickford · 20/08/2023 18:20

The only time I unplug the toaster and kettle is if we go away on holiday. The rest of the time they remain plugged in.

WhatInFreshHell · 20/08/2023 18:20

@DustyLee123 Are you my Mum? I think you might be...

Celticdawn5 · 20/08/2023 18:21

our toaster is unplugged and returned to the cupboard after use. Everything else remains plugged in.
My husbands inability to shut a cupboard door or drawer properly is my main gripe.
