DH - Petty annoyances

I'm not a journalist - lazy or otherwise so piss off Daily Mail.

Following on from another thread re petty things that get you riled up . . . Every time I make a cheese sauce I have to grate a third more than required in anticipation that DH will do many a 'drive by' and swipe loads.

Hardly a major issue - even though strong cheddar we buy has security tags!

When my mums round she switches the toaster off at the wall, so next time i go to make toast it just pops straight back up.

Gosh, are you meant to turn everything off at the wall when you go out/to bed? Since when? I am 43 and have never done this, nor has anyone I know!

I've had my own kettle, toaster and washing machine for over 40 years. I've never once switched them off never mind unplugged them. Even when I go on holiday. Nothing has happened.

Dusty Lee 123,are you a 70s kid by any chance?. I remember my parents unplugging things before bedtime and the safety adverts to unplug.

I'm with you! We turn the telly off at the wall when we go on holiday but I don't think I've turned off the toaster at the wall unless I'm plugging something else in!

Should we also unplug the microwave, air fryer and juice jizzer?

What is the big deal that makes all these posters gang up on DustyLee, she doesn’t cause a fuss about this, she just having a winge on a forum about it. I would really not like to live or be friends with all these posters who are pouncing on her for wanting to unplug her toaster FGS get a life

Mine leaves his dishes on the work surface ABOVE the dishwasher, knowing that I will later put them in the dishwasher. I find it baffling. He never wipes down surfaces even if he has liberally sprinkled whatever he’s made with salt/spices. (I can’t whinge, he makes most meals and he’s a bloody good but messy cook).

People aren't really getting at her.

It's just that a) most people don't, so are curious as to why and b) it's a bit unfair to gripe at her husband for not doing something most people don't do...

It's a pretty mild thing to feel "got at" about.

I unplug and switch off my toaster whenever I’m done using it and I have no idea why. It also annoys me when I find it plugged in and switched on and I also have no idea why 😁

I always unplug our toaster after use since a time once when the dial got stuck and the crumbs caught alight.

My DH literally comes at the pile of grated cheese and hoovers a gob full into his mouth! 😂. It's just us two at home so I don't care about his germs. I've started grating him a little pile of his own now so he can just take that and keep his kits and lips off the 'meal pile'

DH is constantly on his phone in bed. As he's going to sleep, if he wakes up in the night. No big deal maybe apart from the fact he'll have the volume up, so at 6am he won't think anything of sticking a you tube video on with the sound on despite the fact I'll be asleep. Seriously pisses me off. And I'll get "it's not even loud" - it is if you're a light sleeper and it's right next to your head ffs.

I only know that some people do this because back in my teenage days I went out with a friend and when we got home, late, her parents had stayed up specifically to lecture her about not switching some appliance we'd used off at the wall before we went out Confused

Pet peeve - when DH stands his electric toothbrush right up next to the tap so you either have to move the toothbrush or knock it over every single time you turn the tap on. Put it away man, it has a dedicated space!

When OH washes up but NEVER remembers to clean the plug filter thingy out so the next morning I find it full of bits Envy.

Also when no one else in the house ever replaces a toilet roll!!!

I’ve never unplugged the toaster in my life, if it’s not pushed down it’s not on so it doesn’t need switching off - I’m with your DH.

Husband gets up in the middle of the night turns on hallways light crashes through to bathroom takes a loud one eyed pee then burps before crashing back into bed leaving the hallway light on, and me wide awake 😤

Change the lightbulb to an Alexa one so that you can shout. Alexa turn the light off.

@DustyLee123 we switch off toaster, microwave and kettle too! I'm sure I read somewhere uses up electric!
