Lucy Letby has been convicted of the murder of seven babies and the attempted murder of six more.

My thoughts are with the families of the victims.

So scary! Very close to home for us. She cared for my son who was in COCH NICU Feb-April 2014. She seemed perfectly normal and when she was first arrested I couldn’t believe it. Feel so badly for the victims families.

She entered this world Lucy Letby and she will exit this world Loo seat Letdown, The Coward.

Must nip off to change my undergarments, I'm chuckling so very hard. What an amusing name, how does one become as comically talented as thee?

Lol too much internet for you two.

Rather than just being dismissive and rude what do you have to bring to the discussion? What evidence did you find particularly compelling.

It’s not an opinion its guilt proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Opinion is what is formed by the general public, jury’s look at the facts of a case and determine that there’s no reasonable way someone could be innocent.

But that can be based on the opinion of those on the jury - how much weight they give to certain pieces of evidence, how trustworthy they find a witness, and so. Look at rape cases where the jury has felt the victim didn't act how they thought a victim should act. They take their assumptions and biases into court with them, nobody can be 100% objective.

Thinking of the families of all those poor babies

GameOverBoys · 18/08/2023 14:56

I’d be very interested to see a graphic with all the babies that died over that time period. Lucy worked with the illest children in the highest dependency unit. It would be understandable that she was there for more deaths but obviously the ones taken to court were only ones where she was present or had just left.

That graphic was all the babies that died or were injured over that time period.

No it isn’t it just the ones that lucy killed

whatdidshedotogetahillnamedafterher · 18/08/2023 15:01

I was reading through these comments and I was sat thinking about Lucy.s parents. How on earth can those people cope with what they now know about their daughter? Where do they turn? What must be going through their minds right now? I cannot imagine their pain either.

GameOverBoys · 18/08/2023 15:01

Or injured

TheFirstStraw · 18/08/2023 15:02

What's 'childish' about her bedroom? The presence of a teddy bear?

Lucy Letby guilty
Beachwaves127 · 18/08/2023 15:02

What also concerns me is that she wasn’t removed sooner from her role. Was it not obvious?! Or did the senior bosses really just not listen?’

IncognitoMam · 18/08/2023 15:03

I hope she gets her just desserts in prison. No doubt she'll be protected 🤬

AllOfThemWitches · 18/08/2023 15:03

Mumsnet is such a joke sometimes. Any time a woman is convicted of murder, some people think it can't possibly be right.

Unbelievable that the ‘she’s not guilty’ conspiracy theorist’s couldn’t give it a day.

I suspect now that reporting restrictions have been lifted and a better view of the evidence is available that it will be clear why the verdicts that came in as guiltily came to be.

Just wanting someone not to be guilty doesn’t make it true. She has had full due process.

Oh, you flatter me, but I have to confess - I'm just a skilled thief when it comes to great ideas like this one. PP came up with loo seat - too good to throw away.

theDudesmummy · 18/08/2023 15:06

@wheresmymojo a personality disorder is a "mental health problem", in that it is a diagnosable classified mental disorder, but you are right, it is not classed as a mental illness. (No idea if LL has a PD or any other mental disorder, though).

huggiess · 18/08/2023 15:07

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 18/08/2023 13:39

it was suggested Letby attacked the babies because she wanted a married paediatrician, who she insisted was just a close friend but was suspected of having an affair with, to be crash called to the neonatal unit so they could try to save the children together, talk about treatments and sympathise with each other after their deaths.

from the press

What the actual fuck.

I think on balance shes probably guilty. I don’t think it’s a conspiracy theory to feel not 100% about it though. I think the couple of people on here saying they feel a bit worried about it are the ones who seem to know the most about the case .I hope that more evidence comes to light now the media can report on it.

EightChalk · 18/08/2023 15:08

I see the government have announced an independent inquiry! Quite right too.

Apparently she'd had an affair with a senior paediatrician and he was the person who she called when the babies took a turn for the worse and he would comfort her when they died and she seemed to he some sort of hero for helping him to try and save them. Evil cow.

The news articles I’ve read have stated no motive has been established, however, I believe you when you say you’ve read that.

It still seems like a very unlikely/poor theory.

Huh? It's been put to her in cross-examination and has been reported in various newspapers. Just google it. He was a married registrar

Yeah, her bedroom doesn't strike me as particularly childish. Lots of adults hold onto their childhood teddy bear.

I'd extend it to all public sector management to be honest. Police, fire service, local councils, etc. The common factor seems to be incompetent management, even to the top levels in some organisations.

I think we need to question the whole thing really. How can incompetent people rise so far in such organisations? Why are there no reliable whistle blowing procedures?

Something is going badly wrong throughout the public sector. And no, it's not all about lack of money. Lack of money didn't make the London Fire Brigade institutionally racist and sexist. Lack of money didn't facilitate a Met police officer being a murdered. Lack of money didn't cause Duffy's "whistle in the wind" book having to be published to clear his name. Lack of money didn't cause the several hospital scandals.

Fab973 · 18/08/2023 15:10

Why? What do you not trust? The verdict? Her guilt?
