What's the most BORING subject people can bring up?

Inspired by another thread. Of all the subjects someone can bring up in conversation what's the one that makes you want to roll your eyes so far back you can see behind your brain?

Light-hearted of course Grin

My mam tells me all about 'Suzie/ Mike/ Fran' at work I have never met these people.

It's mostly if people drone on and on. Make a story that could be told in 30 seconds 10 minutes long. You see the punch line/ end of the story and wait for them to get there. 'and then and then you'll never guess' I did guess 5 minutes ago.

My DH would probably say mn since I tell him things I read on here 😂

Mpg 🙄

Following this I'll add electric cars. Feck people who have one don't have go on about (hello, husband). Charging, battery life ....... (yawn).

flowertoday · 16/08/2023 12:54

I don't mind children, pets or travel talk. Politics is often going to be dodgy ground as is religion. To always avoid those subjects is good manners if possible.
I think boring for me would be sport - just don't get it. My worst experiences have been listening to anti vax / anti military / ant main stream health care conspiracy type stuff whilst being in the company of one person.
I don't see them anymore luckily, this is not accidental.

Cars . Engine size, etc. Yaaaaaaaaaawn

I worked in predominantly male work place.. God forbid someone got a new car.. They'd all go out for a look.. Come back n drone a bout all the above you mentioned. Zzz zzz. Boring 💤

commonground · 16/08/2023 12:54

Dreams.

Things their cat does.

The plot of a film or drama you haven't seen.

The route here.

bonzaitree · 16/08/2023 12:56

Diet plans (calories, macros weight watchers points etc.) so so dull. especially when people are constantly starting new diets.

Wedding planning. Incredibly dull, sorry. I don’t really care about your wedding. Likelihood is it won’t last so why should I give a fuck about colour schemes etc.

The weather. Look outside that’s the weather. End.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 16/08/2023 12:56

Conversation where it's basically a narration of their day! I git up at the 8 this morning, dropped the kids to creche, grabbed a coffee, coffee shop was so busy, drove to work, traffic was heavy....dear god it's 6pm and you are only at 9am, I can't listen to everything you did until 6.

Anything to do with horoscopes, inner chacras, enlightenment, auras, etc.

Insurance and insulation are my faves

AuntieJune · 16/08/2023 13:06

Or the relative smoothness or pothole-idity of roads

GettingStuffed · 16/08/2023 13:08

Family tree, DH is bad for this he'll go on for ages over how some distance ancestor married someone famous's equally distant relative, or how my great grandmother's first husband (were from the second) was the brother of one of the Prince of Wales mistresses.

He talks at great length to people about cricket, rugby, beer & breweries plus wine with people who don't give a F about them.

Minecraft
Any youtuber playing a video game

Coffeeforus · 16/08/2023 13:09

Football

Slim people who go on and on about how fat they are, or make a big fuss over whether they could treat themselves to a piece of cake/a biscuit/dessert and how much weight they might gain by eating it (I’m not talking about anyone who is clearly underweight).

People like SIL who think she is the only one who values her DC’s education and is sending them to an independent school, and anyone who doesn’t do this clearly doesn’t care about their education. On an f-ing loop..

JudgeRudy · 16/08/2023 13:10

Pets, children, food, sport, TV (lm a celeb, strictly, towie, love Island soaps), dreams, horoscopes, what you're having for dinner/weight loss/gain,

Anyone that goes into unnecessary detail (generally men). People telling you random pretty uneventful facts such as old people saying I do all my own cooking
People asking you to guess things eg how much do you think I weigh/how old do you think i am.
People talking about their awful partner/boss and doing nothing about it
People asking if you have children, how old etc when they have no genuine interest.
Any 'story' that involves numerous 'so I said to him I said. 'and she goes.. '

sunflowerdaisyrose · 16/08/2023 13:10

Work unless they have a v jnteresting job and politics. I quite like hearing about people's dreams!

Whatsthepoint1234 · 16/08/2023 13:11

Computer games that you have never played. Both my boys have a habit of wittering to me about their latest gaming obsession and it takes a lot of effort to act mildly interested.

But you do know Mike! Yes you do...married to Sandra's SIL. The one with the Yorkie...anyway Mike said...

Whatsthepoint1234 · 16/08/2023 13:13

@Somertime minecraft is now a banned topic in our house due to amount of time my dc spent wittering about it.

whirlyhead · 16/08/2023 13:13

Their children's amazing attainments and how special they are (news flash: they're only special to you)
Reality TV programmes
Sports but especially football
Older people on their health
The weather - we live in England, the weather has always been and always will be shit. Stop sounding surprised about it!!!
Brexit - it's shit, we're stuck with it. Nothing else to say.

JudgeRudy · 16/08/2023 13:16

Any 'story' that starts off with 'Did i dver tell you about the time...'.....yes Dad, you did!
My grandad used to tell a tale from his youth about 'a kind of a happening'....each time he would tell it as if it was new. He's gone now. That tale never bored me. He's gone now.
