Inspired by another thread. Of all the subjects someone can bring up in conversation what's the one that makes you want to roll your eyes so far back you can see behind your brain?

Light-hearted of course Grin

Ohhh I've had a terrible night's sleep again and I can't stop crying. The doctor was going to ring me today so I had to get up early and then the phone rang and I answered it and they said Is that Claire? And so I said yes and he said how are you doing and I said I think I'm going to cry and you must think I'm loopy and he said no just take your time and so I did and I told him and .......

The above is a small part of a conversation (a one-sided one) between me and my friend. It's typical so I just zone out.

Cars

I have a child who could talk to you for five straight hours about engine types and cc and models and body kits and imports and it just makes me want to chop my ears off

AffIt · 16/08/2023 12:43

Dreams
Dietary choices or diets (don't get me wrong, I love food, but I really cannot be arsed with hearing you agonise over how that yoghurt wasn't 'on plan')
'Training' - mate, you go to the gym twice a week, you're not preparing for the Olympics (this sort quite often go hand in hand with diets, especially endless banging on about macros)

PecanButter50 · 16/08/2023 12:43

I loved how easy it used to be to still remain friends in Facebook and unfollow them. Now I have to put up with a dear friend and her constant drivel about Trump and how covid vaccines are killing everyone, and the WEF and One World Government . Make it stop, Facebook. Please!

Horses.

I had a colleague who talked about horses and people she knew (that I didn't know) who had horses endlessly. In the end I just used to walk away and I don't think she even noticed.

what they did when drunk

Oh yes!! We have a group in work who regularly go out on "messy ones" then spend the who lunchtime regaling the rest of us who weren't invited with "hilarious" anecdotes of things they said and did whilst drunk.

TheOhGodOfHangovers · 16/08/2023 12:44

Their toileting habits (more yuk than boring but I switch my brain off so fast that they can probably hear the clunk)

It’s not the topic as such but conversations with anyone who hasn’t got the emotional intelligence or self awareness to work out when to either shut up, change the topic or allow the other person to speak.

I think a conversation on a topic I find boring can be interesting if the other person is a good conversationalist. But even a topic I think is interesting can be boring if the other person is boring!

This. Can they not tell that I don't care? Why are they still talking?

I do enjoy hearing about people's pets and travels.

Look, I believe vaccine damage is a thing, I don't doubt some people may have died from it, it's very sad.but this is the case with every vaccine or medicine there ever has been. Even aspirin. I think the constant posts from my friend seem to be more about scaremongering people into avoiding covid vaccines. I respect people's right to choose to vaccinate or not, to be well informed or not, but much of what she posts is right wing biased reports . The Trump obsession is tedious.

Oh and the whole Illuminati, pizzagate,.q anon thing... Child trafficking is horrible but all child sexual abuse is horrible. Statistically you know at least 1 in 4 out of every girl and 1 out of 6 of every boy has had some form of CSA. We can't do much about illuminati and mythical adrenachrome harvesting but you can maybe help spot the signs of abuse in one of your child's classmates.
