Can anyone else just not stand Emma Kenny as a presenter?Everyone but me seems to love her.

I mean, she may be a lovely person of course-but I cringe listening to her.

Some things she says are so questionable. E.G I listened to a bit of a youtube she did regarding Star Hobson (linked to on thread about same) and she says about how Brockhill's 'masculinity' is part of the whole thing. And that her being a bouncer (not the correct term regardless!) shows her favouring violence. I know many people (male and female) who do security who do it because they want to protect (I accept some are in it for the wrong reasons but, blanket statement) and are great people, and some very masculine presenting women who are very gentle in their personalities-Brockhill is a horrendous person of course but I feel saying this is part of why, is a real insult to some people.

I've seen her say other things too but none come to mind currently, I'll try to think-I don't want to watch her in anything else or I would use her content to jog my memory.

She sounds almost drunk on some of her material too.

Some of it is just my own issues-the way she over-gesticulates and is SO over the top in her describing of things is a trait that irritates me but I know that's just me!

I like her deep.dives into crime on you tube but she's very self opinionated
She just had a baby a couple of weeks ago too.and she's 50!

Emma is queen of 'stating the absolute obvious and looking smug'. She's a weird one who attracts your soft hearted true crime fans.

No idea how she's progressed so far. Those in the true crime circle don't like her generally - she jumped onto true crime as a hype years ago and she offers nothing but lip filler.

What are her actusl.qualifications?

I think Eleanor Neale is better at presenting and she's only in her early twenties!

Only person worthy of any respect in the psychology and criminology field is Jane Monckton-Smith..Emma Kenny is like the Home Bargains version.

I read a lot of true crime and watch documentaries too.maybe I could have a go!😂

Never heard of her but she seems to be flying high on self promotion and the expertise seems to be self awarded going by her qualifications. Which is par for the course these days!

I watched her yesterday I had no idea who she is.

I was irritated by her constant referral to the lock down and Boris Johnson though... Boris was famously against lock down.

She used to be on semi-obscure channels about old true crime stories that I used to watch a lot as I worked nights from home around that time.

I love true crime but just CANNOT listen her her voice, it goes through me and I hate her way of presenting. Give me Eleanor Neale any day.

She keeps using the word 'Headious'. I don't know if she means heinous or hideous.

I felt the same after listening to that episode of the podcast. She has a very insincere and over-exuberant delivery that doesn't fit with the subject matter. It borders on disrespectful for me. I hate her verbose delivery and the way she goes around the houses to make obvious points. I prefer a more direct delivery. I found the whole experience exhausting to listen to and didn't finish listening to the episode.

Yes she's very anti lockdown and I know its a controversial topic which I don't want to.get into but as a presenter she should be neutral.in her opinions

I don't mind that esp in the context of what she's talking about. Lock down was literally and tragically a death sentence for those poor dc.

It's just for someone to be so publicly scathing about lock down why doesn't she know Boris was famously against it and probably did it too late?

She's a qualified counsellor, and member of the BACP, apparently.

She has no business describing herself as a psychologist though, given that she only has a degree in psychology. She gets away with it presumably because she's careful to describe herself as a "media psychologist", rather than any descriptor commonly used by BPS-registered psychologists (e.g clinical, forensic, counselling) and the use of psychologist itself isn't currently a protected term (though it should be).

I’m completely missing the point of the thread, but I just googled her to make sure it was the same person I thought it was and noticed her year of birth. My very first thought was that you were obviously mistaken about her age because nobody born in the early seventies could be anywhere near 50. Perhaps I should employ her counselling services in coming to terms with my age! 😳

@skilpadde so am I and I have an M.A in a social science-Iam now thinking maybe I could have had a much better career if I'd have done what she's done with the embellishments it actually worries me that she's a counsellor just by the way she comes across! I know that's very judgmental She's so over-the-top and reactive.

@Bandyarsia I've no idea WHY I notice the way she has mispronunciations of a lot of things, but I damn know it gets on my tits 😂
