Sudden death in young adults

Baconsandwich33 · 10/08/2023 11:33

In the past 3 months I've suddenly lost 2 colleagues, one was 29 and the other approx 35.
The 29 year old lady died of a brain aneurysm and the cause of death for my male colleague is unknown as of yet, but it was sudden and unexpected.
Whilst this is rare, it's very frightening. I had only worked with them both in the days prior. Both left young children behind, seemingly healthy adults who just suddenly died.
This could be anyone really.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's heartbreaking for them and it does make me anxious.

The sun should never set on an argument

Love to all who've experienced this loss

Pinkflamingopants · 10/08/2023 15:16

@Pinkitydrinkity the data presented at the hearing showed the vaccine has a mortality rate that is 12x higher than Covid. And the mortality rate vs those that didn’t take the vaccine is also very high. This is data Pfizer has been forced to hand over to the Senate.

Pinkflamingopants · 10/08/2023 14:57

@Pinkitydrinkity why would there be a hearing about it if that were the case? Pfizer have acknowledged the vaccine causes it. You can try and deny it to yourself all you like but it’s there out in the open for anyone who wants to understand the truth.

Hi, can you send me a news article about this hearing and the evidence please? I know someone who went to A&E in the past week with heart palpitations.

*A 4 year old I knew (4th child of 5) had been put in a bedroom with his 5 year old brother

The 5 year old had found a fuse in their room one night, and put it in his brothers mouth while he was asleep (they think it had been dropped at some point and somehow ended up in the kids room)

4 year old choked to death-found by dad the following morning*

This is fucking terrifying. That 5 year old has to live with the fact that he did this to his brother for the rest of his life. The parents must have been absolutely devastated.

What is the purpose of this thread?

Pinkflamingopants · 10/08/2023 15:40

@roses2 if you Google Pfizer Australia Hearings there’s articles from various Australian newspapers. Videos of the hearings are on YouTube and Twitter. Mainstream press in the Uk don’t seem to be reporting on it much, surprisingly…

If that's the case, then surely you can link some articles here?

My fit and active 46 year old DH started breathing oddly in his sleep one night two years ago. My teenage kids and I performed CPR for 20 minutes, and
then paramedics fought for another hour to revive him before rushing him to A&E. He was declared dead on arrival. It was a night that changed our world completely.

His post mortem found no cause of death, so he was declared to have died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome.

gwenneh · 10/08/2023 15:50

There aren't, though. I get a Daily Mail article, various YouTube channels (none of which contain a link to the whole proceedings, just "highlights" so they lack context, and a few fringe, US-based publications. None of those are valid sources for forming an opinion.

Even a link to the full, unedited hearing transcript would be helpful.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 10/08/2023 15:55

I know a man at university who died in his sleep aged 21, and a friend who died very suddenly for no obvious reason in his late 20s/early 30s. It's very sad and very frightening, but also very rare.

DivingForLove · 10/08/2023 15:58

@roses2 so wheres your evidence then? Strange that you assert this but ask someone else for evidence?

@CoffeandTiaMaria watch the Pfizer hearing that is taking place in Australia at the moment, it’s widely discussed and accepted that the Covid vaccine has caused a large increase in Myocarditis. It’s incredible to watch.

Pages of MN'etters wondering 'why' this is happening and the answer is right there. ^

Untested and untrialed emergency vaccine taken at your own risk - there's the risk sadly.

It was trialled FFS. Are you seriously ignorant enough to believe that it wasn’t? How are people still spouting this bullshit? It underwent a phase 3 randomised, observer-blinded, placebo-controlled trial.
And trialled and tested mean the same thing Einstein.

Would be great if everybody could get the free heart condition screening.

My mum was diagnosed with a heart condition several years ago after complaining of problems for quite a while. It was recommended by her Cardiologist that her children were all checked as the condition was hereditary.

Off we all went for our check ups to find that my older sister had been born with a hole in her heart which had never been picked up and my younger sister has the same condition as my mum. I appear to be fine. None of this would ever have been discovered had my mum not been persistent at the GP.

DeerWatch · 10/08/2023 16:40

My 19 year old daughter was diagnosed with a heart defect a few years ago that increases her risk of a sudden cardiac event during intense exercise. Her cardiologist said risk is equal to the chance of being struck by lighting, can't say I get a lot of comfort from that!

It has been found on autopsy of young athletes. I now support the Cry charity who offer screening to young people.

DH has a work colleague whose young wife died in the night from what was later found to be an undiagnosed heart issue. She had only had their baby 3 months before.

My daughter Maude died of SUDC - sudden unexplained death in childhood. Sudden death is rare, but it does happen- statistics vary but are roughly 2.7 per 100,000 deaths in persons aged under 40, discounting SIDS (under 1 year)

I remember Maude and "Miles for Maude". Hope you and your family are all well.💐

TheWayoftheLeaf · 10/08/2023 16:42

It is frightening. I know a woman who was 28 who also died of a brain aneurysm. Horrifyingly her sibling had one a year later - thankfully didn't die as they knew what was happening because of their sister. Horrifying for the family.

Other than that it's generally been suicides which are a different type of horror.

KnottyKnitting · 10/08/2023 17:02

There is a charity local to me that works in conjunction with CRY. The foundation was set up by a man whose wife died in her sleep,in her mid 30s. They have raised tons of money to run regular heart check events in the area for young people and adults between the ages of 14 and 35, and quite a few undiagnosed heart issues have been picked up in teens and adults and are now being monitored.

They have also bought quite a few defibrillators which are dotted around the city where they live.

Both my DDs have had their hearts checked in these events which were totally free. I would really recommend it if you ever get the chance for your DCs or you if under 35)

Clefable · 10/08/2023 11:37

It is very scary. An older colleague of mine lost his son at 18 to sudden adult death syndrome, just went into his room in the morning to find him dead. It's a hard thing to accept that people can just die without anything really 'happening' at all.

Yes same happened in my family.
Early 20s here

Baconsandwich33 · 10/08/2023 17:43

I've had a look but sadly it's not offered very frequently/not offered in many areas.

Odd.

RojoCarlottaValdez · 10/08/2023 14:30

I watched some of that - absolutely heart-breaking.

It's hard to watch, but the vaccines did prevent many deaths from covid. People did what they thought best at the time.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/08/2023 18:31

Why do people harp on about the vaccine ? Is it to make them feel that they had a superior sense of judgement? Because at the point it came out it was a pretty frightening situation around the world and we only had the scientists to rely on for an assessment. I got neurological issues (still have) after having my 4th one- if I had known it didn't stop you getting it and the numbers that were having issues then I possibly would have given it a miss - I'm certainly not having more- but hindsight isa wonderful thing- and I don't think constantly posting anti vax links helps the situation- given there isn't much those of us who have had them (which is the majority) can do about it.

AffIt · 10/08/2023 18:35

A university friend of mine died when we were 30 - he was living overseas at the time and his housemates found him dead in his bed. Cause of death was SADS.

Incredibly sad, he was one of the best, most vibrant and loving people I've ever known and I still miss him.

IndiganDop · 10/08/2023 18:51

My son got pericarditis after his second COVID vaccine (Pfizer). Luckily it was mild, and not myocarditis. He is in the young male age group most at risk - yes it's still very rare.

I posted about this the other day on a thread in health and had 2 posters swoop down on me within minutes, insinuating that I was lying for political reasons about an uptick in peri and myocarditis in young people associated with covid and COVID vaccs.

Yes there are anti-vaxxers out there, and yes there are many people who died because they refused the vaccine because they read a load of crap on social media, esp in America. I am not one of those people. I am a parent who got all her kids vaccinated, and myself, and my DH, and my one son had a reaction and has been advised not to have any more COVID vaccines.

I don't think anybody sane can argue that there is zero evidence of heart issues in a tiny tiny minority of people who had the vaccine. At a population level it's almost certainly still worth having it, especially if you are over 40 or so. I am not so sure for younger age groups. I'd be lying if I said it doesn't feel different when it's your child battling chest pain and it turns out to be their heart...
