Sudden death in young adults

Baconsandwich33 · 10/08/2023 11:33

In the past 3 months I've suddenly lost 2 colleagues, one was 29 and the other approx 35.
The 29 year old lady died of a brain aneurysm and the cause of death for my male colleague is unknown as of yet, but it was sudden and unexpected.
Whilst this is rare, it's very frightening. I had only worked with them both in the days prior. Both left young children behind, seemingly healthy adults who just suddenly died.
This could be anyone really.
Has anyone else experienced this? It's heartbreaking for them and it does make me anxious.

A woman I know recently passed away at 34, cause unknown at the point of death. That was quite shocking to me.

Have they had the results if the post mortem ?
Because when my sister in law died the.intial.post mortem couldn't find an obvious cause of death ,but when the blood redu!it's came back several.weeks later it wss found she had sepsis .

Anotherchristianmama · 10/08/2023 14:09

I wonder if there's a correlation between declining rates of SIDS and unexplained adult deaths.

QueefQueen80s · 10/08/2023 14:10

I know of one recently. A doctor once told me if it's someone young then it's usually a heart defect that has never been picked up. There has to be something wrong for a young healthy body to die.

BigGreen · 10/08/2023 14:10

Yes, my lovely friend 💔 dead in his 30s of an undiagnosed heart condition. I visit his memorial bench in the park very often even though it happened years ago now.

Yes

I knew somebody a bit (was a friend of a friend) who was in his early 40s I think.

Sat in an armchair watching TV with his Mum, she got up and asked if he wanted a cuppa, he said No so she went to make herself a cup of Tea
By the time she went back into the living room her son was dead.. 😟

That poor mum 😢

Yes - two this year.
My neighbour's son - 19, very sporty and athletic, very suddenly developed something wrong with his heart (myocardium?) and was waiting for an urgent hospital appointment but died in his sleep on Friday night. His Mum and Dad are devastated.

My DH's friend, an ex-Rugby player, a fit 29 year old with a family died in February. His heart stopped and he fell in the street. Strangers got him an ambulance but he was dead on arrival.

QueefQueen80s · 10/08/2023 14:13

Seems so unfair doesn't it when so many people abuse their bodies for decades in various ways and keep living.
Eg how does a heroin addict survive so long.
How does a 60 stone mans organs keep working.
But a healthy person can just die
We aren't all made the same

QueefQueen80s · 10/08/2023 14:14

@RojoCarlottaValdez Yes it happens to a lot of sporty people, the small heart defect maybe can't handle all the increased metabolism

That poor mum 😢

I know.
It absolutely broke her

She sold the house in the end and moved to another part of the Borough as all she could envision after that was finding him in the armchair.

@CoffeandTiaMaria watch the Pfizer hearing that is taking place in Australia at the moment, it’s widely discussed and accepted that the Covid vaccine has caused a large increase in Myocarditis. It’s incredible to watch.

I watched some of that - absolutely heart-breaking.

There's also the Moderna study mentioned here: f_

It's not just conspiracy, unfortunately.

Pages of MN'etters wondering 'why' this is happening and the answer is right there. ^

Untested and untrialed emergency vaccine taken at your own risk - there's the risk sadly.

It is very scary. An older colleague of mine lost his son at 18 to sudden adult death syndrome, just went into his room in the morning to find him dead. It's a hard thing to accept that people can just die without anything really 'happening' at all.

This is a wonderful charity

My partner lost 2 of his brothers both in their 40s with heart rhythm problems, they both appeared fit and healthy and just dropped dead. Unfortunately the problem wasn't realised with the first brother which could potentially have saved the second. My partner also has it and has a IDU fitted to shock his heart if needed. Scary.

AussieManque · 10/08/2023 14:45

It's well known that even a "mild" COVID infection increases your risk of heart attack for at least 18 months post infection, and increases your chance of dying in that period fivefold. Especially in the younger age group of mid 20s to mid 40s.

Check the British Heart Foundation page: https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/news/coronavirus-and-your-health/what-does-coronavirus-do-to-your-body

This is one of the reasons why even "mild" COVID is bad. Don't get (re)Infected!

I'm sure you all remember the thing with Kristian Eriksen in the European championships- one minute running with ball, next - face down on field- we were living in Copenhagen at that time- he was very very lucky that their national ground is next to their biggest hospital in Copenhagen.

Baconsandwich33 · 10/08/2023 14:51

Sorry to hear all these stories. It does seem to be related to very high exercise levels.

Would be great if everybody could get the free heart condition screening.

But how many of those people had had covid previously? Covid still causes more heart problems than the vaccine.

Pinkflamingopants · 10/08/2023 14:57

@Pinkitydrinkity why would there be a hearing about it if that were the case? Pfizer have acknowledged the vaccine causes it. You can try and deny it to yourself all you like but it’s there out in the open for anyone who wants to understand the truth.

Gymmum82 · 10/08/2023 14:58

Most sudden unexplained deaths are due to undiagnosed cardiac problems. HCM, malignant arrhythmias, myocarditis.

covid also can cause pretty severe problems with your heart for months after infection. I personally developed significant arrhythmias, weakness and collapse months following Covid which took around 6 months to resolve

Pinkitydrinkity · 10/08/2023 15:01

@Pinkflamingopants where did I deny it? I just said covid causes more problems than the vaccine, which is true. I do acknowledge the fact the vaccine has caused heart problems in a small amount of people.

Rab Wardell, Katie Archibald's husband, both Olympic cyclists, died in his sleep aged 37. Super fit. Awful, tragic, she just woke up and he was dead. She did an amazing interview with Chris Hoy the other day, we, and Clare Balding were all in tears. She is amazing.

Seems to happen to a lot of fit young sporting men, something to do with strain in the heart, or undiagnosed heart issues. Odd, as you would assume they all have lots of medical check ups whilst training and competing.

My husbands family have a genetic heart condition- brugada- which can cause a sudden cardiac arrest but it will remain undetected, until it isn’t. One relative has a funny ecg, which is how they found out that it ran in the family.

The family were all genetically tested and lots of them have it- including my kids! But, it wouldn’t show up in any tests. The specific genetics test is the only thing to confirm that they have it! So it’s likely something like this.

Judellie · 10/08/2023 15:06

My sister-in-law's sister died of a brain aneurysm at 42, keaving kids of 10 and 13; this must have been about 20 years ago.
More recently my husband's cousin's son, about 25 and no problems and a girl of 16, but I don't know exactly how they died (ie if it was a brain aneurysm or something else), I'm just really sad about them all.
