Soo I’ve just had a call from our letting agent went to voicemail as I was on a call and my fucking husband hasn’t paid the rent for the last 2 months….

The bastard is at work and his phone has been switched off

I don’t have the money to pay it all - I did wonder why he had some extra money

We have separate accounts he pays rent etc I pay other bills it all works out fair

I am so bloody angry I daren’t phone the letting agent back and I’m off to check his emails 😡😡😡

Well, have only read the half of the first page so may well be covered....

But.

There's no way I would ever be financially dependent on a man.

The shit could hit the fan anytime.

Sorry you're going through this OP. Hope it gets sorted.

She already explained how they split the bills. She pays the council tax and other stuff.

Nor come back to update the thread. Bad form

OP not coming back because either...

Or

C - the husband had in fact paid the rent and it's the agent's error. Meanwhile, op, acting on some of the advice and assumptions on this thread, has accused her husband of a gambling habit or a crack habit, and kicked him out.

🤣🤣 honestly the drama, any normal person would just wait for their husband to call back once free 😆, I do secretly enjoy how these threads spiral with no posts from the op.

They pay different bills, if you read all Op’s post she even mentioned he lost his job during the pandemic and was out of work for a while so I think she supported the family for that period. The issue here more seems the fact they are married but don’t have a joint account or access to each others accounts so have limited visibility to see what the other one is doing in terms of bills or whatever. Honestly it’s the kind of situation I can imagine having with flatmates when I used to flatshare. It’s weird to me that married couples live like this.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 10/08/2023 22:40

Hope you've managed to get it sorted now OP and he had a reasonable excuse.

I didn't read on past your last post.

All you need to do to avoid a Section 8 is keep BELOW 8 weeks arrears, so pay off what you can, even if just £500 until you know what's what. Just keep under the 8 weeks.

Of course they can go for section 21, but if you've been good tenants then keep liaising with the Estate Agent. A 21 could be very costly for them as you have the right to throughout all court proceedings etc (as long as not over 8 weeks arrears)

Good luck! I hope you get some answers from your husband.
