Soo I’ve just had a call from our letting agent went to voicemail as I was on a call and my fucking husband hasn’t paid the rent for the last 2 months….

The bastard is at work and his phone has been switched off

I don’t have the money to pay it all - I did wonder why he had some extra money

We have separate accounts he pays rent etc I pay other bills it all works out fair

I am so bloody angry I daren’t phone the letting agent back and I’m off to check his emails 😡😡😡

Pester 🤣

Honestly, some women on this board treat men like they’re gods. We mustn’t bother the men when they’re busy with our silly little needs… like a roof over our heads.

Honestly some women on this board expect 100% attention and expect men to answer calls at every given moment, they’re so bloody needy!

it’s like a woman can’t say, I’m sure theirs a rationale explanation. I can’t contact my DH as he is the bill payer, but I’ll be back to you during the course of the day.

Or OPs fallen for a scam... Might explain why all the emails were in Junk.

But it could be anything from forgetfulness to a fuck up to a scam to deliberate lack of payment, the only one who knows is OP and she's not telling!

I also was wondering why three emails went to his junk and also one to OPs, odd that!

It isn't going to make any difference whether you talk to him now or this evening, so calm down. You've emailed the letting agent and sent a payment, so as far as they're concerned it's clearly a misunderstanding and the back rent will be paid soon. He'll be home later and you can figure it out then.

Eh?

It was in response to your comment about women worship men and think they shouldn’t be disturbed, I’m pointing out some of us women are perfectly able to deal with a situation and don’t go into hysterics.

you do you, I don’t need to demand my DH answer or I’ll be on a forum with a load of drama, slagging him off.

Absolutely agree.

Too many women on these boards love to twist any thread into a man hating one.

I would not appreciate dh pestering me continually if I was in back to back meetings at work for something that can so obviously wait/not involving a death or critical injury in the family!

I don’t think OP has slagged him off but something is amiss and she’s absolutely right to be stressed about it.

It’s basic respect to find the time to respond to your partner in this scenario.

I think calling him a bastard is slagging him off? You might not mind being called a similarly unkind name by your partner, like bitch, but we’ve all
got different standards!

wayyour · 10/08/2023 16:23

OP didn't come back?

Lentilweaver · 10/08/2023 16:26

This is exactly why we have joint accounts.

EekGoesTheBaby · 10/08/2023 16:27

So stressful! Hope you get it all sorted.

Watchkeys · 10/08/2023 16:27

You're assuming he's seen her messages, which he may not have done, given he's at work. Basic respect includes not calling your partner a bastard when you've only had one side of the story and it's not theirs.

There's something odd here. The relationship isn't good in the first place when the first port of call in the light of technical problems is 'He's a bastard'. Healthy relationships involve communication, and never involve personal or ad hominem attacks/insults.

Mikimoto · 10/08/2023 16:30

-OP bollocks husband, who says "Oh yeah, I see the reminders in spam now: I'll pay it all this morning".
-OP realises she's a divvy and never returns again.

Ah tbh I missed him being called a bastard but did see the reply regarding messages being read.

I still think as quick a response to the OP is appropriate in this situation. I wouldn’t want my OH tail spinning.

Inyournewdress · 10/08/2023 16:33

As your name is in the tenancy the agent should have contacted you sooner, does the agent say they have made contact with your DH beyond emails? Seems odd if not.

Inyournewdress · 10/08/2023 16:34

Also surely they should have sent an actual letter?

SunshineAndFizz · 10/08/2023 16:35

Has he still not contacted you? x x

Snugglemonkey · 10/08/2023 16:40

We will probably never find out what happened, but the chances are that it was a genuine error and us resolved. Most things are quite mundane really.

The shocking thing is how many people jump in encouraging the op to do crazy things and wind up the drane. No need!!

CoffeandTiaMaria · 10/08/2023 16:41

Perhaps the whole shebang is bullsh1t 🤷🏼‍♀️

Or make a phone call as they did?

I agree @FiddleLeaf , but a quick response is a response as soon as you pick up the message, not a response as soon as it's sent. He's at work. He might not look at his phone all day. He had told OP previously that he was going to be in a meeting all morning. I wouldn't be calling my partner a bastard for not responding to me from a meeting. I suspect he's picked up the message, realised that the rent hadn't gone out, and paid it, just like the rest of us would if we realised our rent hadn't been transferred.

I don't think anybody in a healthy relationship would call their partner a bastard under any circumstances. The fact that OP did this suggests that something was wrong before this happened.

As quick as possible is appropriate but as quick as possible isn't necessarily immediately, and although the emails from the agent required very prompt action, they didn't need immediate action.

It's also not on anyone to stop their partner tail spinning over something that doesn't merit tail spinning. It's up to the person concerned to manage their anxiety and reactions.
