Soo I’ve just had a call from our letting agent went to voicemail as I was on a call and my fucking husband hasn’t paid the rent for the last 2 months….

The bastard is at work and his phone has been switched off

I don’t have the money to pay it all - I did wonder why he had some extra money

We have separate accounts he pays rent etc I pay other bills it all works out fair

I am so bloody angry I daren’t phone the letting agent back and I’m off to check his emails 😡😡😡

@WunWun what if his job means he cannot contact her at the moment?

He might be a train driver!

Who1what1me · 10/08/2023 12:48

Take a breath. You are panicking. A few hours won't make any difference to the situation.

If future your DH needs to set up direct debits so this doesn't happen again.

If he's on the phone to the fraud department at Barclays it might be a couple of years he's put on hold or passed from department to department and person to person.

WunWun · 10/08/2023 12:50

Of course he should explain himself as soon as possible. Why the actual fuck should she wait for two hours?! Honestly. It's unbearable how scared most women are to stand up for themselves. I despair!

No, it’s just that winding up an already worried op to bombard someone with calls demanding immediate response, while he’s very likely to be actually looking into it, is unhelpful at best and at worst, looks like you’re enjoying someone else’s distress

Thatboymum · 10/08/2023 12:51

Custardslices · 10/08/2023 12:45

Why are you encouraging the OP?

Because we aren’t all doormats and people pleasers . Missing 2 months rent at 3k is not an accident , you don’t just oversee something like that. He knew 100% the op is rite to be stressed she’s threatened with homelessness because of her stupid dh of course she’s angry and him very obviously avoiding her isn’t helping

Doggymummar · 10/08/2023 12:52

Perhaps the standing order had expired, mine did in October it's soon fixed, try not to worry.

WunWun · 10/08/2023 12:52

Fear not, I'm going to hide the thread and get on with my day. No more "encouraging" the OP to get some answers from the guy potentially putting her on the streets. Gently gently all round and if she's patient enough I'm sure he'll throw her a bone

Ffs
you don’t know what’s happened. The op is upset and you’re adding to that.

Give him a chance to ring you back OP - he might be busy at work. Get the facts off him before being reactive.

Posts like this winding the op up are unhelpful. Are you doing it for fun?

Well said @FloydPepper as I said a couple of hours isn’t going to mean the bailiffs are at the door!

Good idea!

No one needs the gloom monster when they’re worried..

I don’t think the bailiffs are coming this afternoon anyway.

I missed the bit where they’ve received an eviction notice, when was that?

MendedDrum · 10/08/2023 12:57

Oh my goodness, the drama llamas on this thread! I did this once, only I accidentally didn't pay rent for 3 months! Like the OP's DH, I had a DD set up to move my rent money from my day to day account to a separate account straight after payday, then my rent was paid by SO from that separate account later that month. However, like PPs I didn't realise that some banks set SOs to expire after a year. So I was contentedly seeing my rent money depart from my spending account every month, not realising it was just stacking up in my other account, which I didn't check frequently as it was only used for rent. My landlord didn't notice either until month 3.

I was so embarrassed - but I paid it that day and no more was said, and I have continued to be a generally sensible adult member of society who occasionally makes mistakes. Unless the OP's DH has form for spunking the rent money on bitcoin I don't think there's any call to panic just yet!

I don't think train drivers have Teams meetings whilst driving...

Your posts come across like you're getting really agitated by this situation and it's not even happening to you.

Waiting two hours will make precisely fuck all difference to how this all gets sorted. The OP is not going to be on the street with her bags by this evening. Her DH is highly unlikely to have spent all the cash on cocaine. This is most likely a straightforward admin error that can be resolved by the people involved having a calm conversation to find the best solution.

Also, this will not be the first time the letting agents will have had to deal with something this. They will have seen arrears fuck ups happen hundreds of times and will know how to sort it with minimal faff.

Well, exactly; the OP is anxious enough, without people trying to make out she ought to be throwing stuff in suitcases because the bailiffs are on their way round.

It’s unbearable that some women are so hysterical and demanding!

Gives the rest of us a bad rep!

Maybe you can’t read but I said threatened with homelessness as the ops emails have mentioned they can now apply for a section 8 which would be the first threat in applying to make them leave their home. I didn’t say she received an evection notice ☺️

I don't think train drivers have Teams meetings whilst driving...

But they do when training, not sure they can stop an entire meeting with potentially 10 or so attendees because of a non life and death situation, which isn’t going to change within two hours.

BlackOps · 10/08/2023 13:05

Any chance you can all stop the pile on of Wun Wun? - one poster has a go and the following 10 do exactly the same thing like sheep. Pathetic playground crap

She hasn't been threatened with anything from the agent/landlord. They have phoned her up to inform/ask.
