Helloooo lovely people, a new thread for a us to continue to chat and connect with other autistic women (small talk and word mincing not required). 😊

As before, anybody newly stumbling upon this is very welcome to join us (even if still awaiting diagnosis). But we'd be grateful if others could leave us alone please, like the NT man we encountered in thread #1. 🤣

And a tree on the table for Linney the cat to knock over at his leisure

Can I join?

That thread just about tipped me over the edge last night.

TheShellBeach · 10/12/2023 13:43

Hi @rorret and welcome.

That thread really, really bothered me, too. I hid it in the end. I had reported loads of ableist posts, not to mention the entire thread.

MNHQ do not take this seriously.

But @rorret you're among friends here.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/12/2023 13:52

Welcome @rorret Yes, this is our safe little space. Shocking that that thread was left to stand and not a single ableist comment deleted. I had an email from MNHQ saying they were looking at it, but I guess they thought 'Nah, fuck it'

@TheShellBeach your Linney looks a lot like my Mr Darcy. I'll dig out a pic

@Nepmarthiturn I hope you're feeling better soon. Not being well sucks.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/12/2023 13:57

@TheShellBeach Here's Mr Darcy. He's very floofy like Linney, but has Fire Point markings.

Thank you all.

Gorgeous cats too.

Nepmarthiturn · 10/12/2023 14:22

Hi @rorret ! You're very welcome here with us.

That thread was horrendous. There really seem to be no limits on MN. I don't understand how posters saying such things are not banned.

Loving the cat pics!

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior . I have been really sick with a virus for two weeks now. Terrible immune system because of the ME. I had an awful fever and migraine and felt faint every time I stood up. Fun times especially as a lone parent! Now just a chest infection and feeling totally wiped out because it's caused another relapse, and really stressed because

I have so much to get done at work before I finish and need to get things ready for Christmas, house is a tip, so behind with everything because I've been barely able to do the very basics. Aaargh. Need to take some propranolol and some more painkillers! But if I do manage to get the decs done I will post some pics, that might give me some motivation. I know it'll cheer me up once it's done, it's just that moving hurts so much atm.

Mr. Darcy's lovely!

He does look a lot like Linney.

TheShellBeach · 10/12/2023 14:25

I'm sorry you're feeling so ill, Nep.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/12/2023 15:46

I feel for you, @Nepmarthiturn I have EDS (as does my daughter) and she also has two Autoimmune conditions. She's feeling crap at the minute with pain and a horrid cough (negative for Covid) This time of year can be utterly miserable with flare ups.

We've just had to abandon a trip as DD had a meltdown. She's sitting in her room with her ear defenders on decompressing. I feel crap for suggesting it. I thought it would make her feel better. A little treat, it was supposed to be.

Made the mistake of reading the updates on that thread. Dear God. What do people get out of it? Whining on and adding crying laughing emojis (I FUCKING hate emojis for this reason) "But it's not a recognised condition... wa wah" Does it make them feel better to quote shit like this? Horrible, horrible, nasty fuckers with nothing better to do than disbelieve others. "Nobody I know is like this on real life. Only on MN" and "Is anyone Normal on here?" Oh, congratulations on being a walker.

No wonder so many of us hide away.

Nepmarthiturn · 10/12/2023 16:02

@RainbowZebraWarrior aww your poor DD. It is so hard to judge though, not your fault. Sometimes on a day that seems doomed a trip can work, and other days when things seem calm and you think it'll be ok it all goes wrong. Will you be able to reschedule?

Yup, awful thread. I have just had another little rant on there that may cheer you up. 😁

I can't actually cope with that thread anymore, so I'm not going to look.

I won't mention it, anymore Shell.

I'm just watching Graham Norton. Jamie Oliver and Ricky Gervais are / were on it. I know Jamie has ADHD and is Dyslexic. I've often wondered about Ricky, though. Did anyone ever watch his show Derek? I get the impression that even if Ricky did think he was ND, he wouldn't bother pursuing a diagnosis. I think when you're ND yourself, you spot certain (possible, or perhaps seemingly very obvious to us) traits in others.

TheShellBeach · 10/12/2023 17:17

I don't mind y'all mentioning it!

I just don't want to read the fucker.

Oh yes.
My older son and I pause the telly when we're watching it sometimes and say "autistic!" together.

Aaaargh, can't sleep. Stupid cough! 😩😩

Hope you got a bit of rest. DD has had the cough for 9 days now and has had a lot of sleepless nights. I'm fairly sure she is asthmatic, like me so I carved and tried her with my reliever inhaler the other night. It gave her some respite, so we will be asking the doctor again about Asthma. (Been monitoring her peak flow)

9 school days left, here till the Christmas break. It can't come soon enough tbh. DD hasn't spoken since the failed outing yesterday lunchtime. I think she's in burnout. She's been communicating via whiteboard (she already has a diagnosis of Selective ((Situational)) mutism, but she's always been fine with me - just school / strangers etc) Thankfully, we have a home visit planned from her Speech and language therapist tomorrow, so hopefully they can help.

I'm going in to speak with her key worker this morning to explain that she is currently non verbal.

Nepmarthiturn · 11/12/2023 15:18

Oh goodness @RainbowZebraWarrior she must be burned out if she's not talking even with you. I hope the SALT can help.

I was so ill this morning I had to cancel all my appointments and stay in bed. Just annoyed now that I've wasted my day off and achieved nothing! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well, maybe you'll feel physically better tomorrow, after the rest?

DS came round, to collect a letter for his new GP (which I laboriously typed and printed yesterday). The GP had requested it and it took me some hours to write.

It goes without saying that he was more interested in Mr SB plumbing in his washing machine at his flat, so the pair of them disappeared without taking the letter with them.

Grrr.

rorret · 11/12/2023 15:32

@RainbowZebraWarrior I hope the SALT is able to elp.

Sympathies to everyone coughing.

TheShellBeach · 11/12/2023 15:33

I do hope you feel better soon, @Nepmarthiturn
It sucks to be ill at this time of year, when there is so much to do.

@RainbowZebraWarrior I also hope your DD is feeling better after yesterday.
It's horrible for them when they can't cope like that.

Flowers andCake and Ginto you both.

Nepmarthiturn · 12/12/2023 01:11

Finally managed it. Decorating the tree with my children is one of my favourite parts of Christmas. 🥰🎄

@Nepmarthiturn Wow, what a beautiful tree 🎄

RainbowZebraWarrior · 12/12/2023 10:20

@Nepmarthiturn that is beautiful! I love a tree with loads of lights. How are you feeling today?

Exhausted here. Just had to ring and change my Immunology appt tomorrow to a phone appt. I was supposed to be starting on omalizumab injections, but DD is still unwell and I just can't physically get there. Will discuss with immunologist and hopefully get there in the New Year. They are monthly injections, so I'm going to ask if, after the first one, they can be administered at the GP surgery.

DD hasn't spoken a word for three days now so relying on the SALT today for support. She's definitely in shutdown, and it's scared her as it's her first proper experience of one. I don't see how she's going to get through the next week and a half (breaks up next Thursday) as everything going on at school is too overwhelming with it being Christmas, and she can't cope with school as it is

How is everyone else?
