Are you your parent’s favourite child?

I am categorically most certainly not!

But life goes on.

Are you?

Pipersouth · 31/07/2023 22:05

Depends on the day and who visited last!

Markonface · 31/07/2023 22:05

My parents genuinely didn't have a favourite (5 of us). We all get on, all feel equal. No idea how they managed that!

cruffinsmuffin · 31/07/2023 22:05

Nope, not for my parents. I'm the favourite child of my in-laws though 😂

MiMiPies · 31/07/2023 22:08

Absolutely not which is very awkward considering I'm an only child.

weegiemum · 31/07/2023 22:08

No, my parents have always been amazing at treating all6 of us (blended family) the same. They don't treat their own bio children any differently than the stepchildren. They're pretty amazing parents though!

toomanyleggings · 31/07/2023 22:08

I think my mum enjoys talking to me and spending time with me more than my siblings. In that way I guess I’m the favourite.

TheHorneSection · 31/07/2023 22:08

Yes. My brother never helps himself, gets into all sorts of messes, and seems to believe that despite doing a “terrible” job of parenting, they exist mainly to bail him out when he needs it. I actually like my parents and think they did a pretty normal job with us given what they had.

SparePantsAndLego · 31/07/2023 22:09

Yes. I’m an only child 🤣

BotherThat · 31/07/2023 22:09

I wasn’t, but I didn’t realise until after my younger brother died. Both of my parents since passed away.

Hellocatshome · 31/07/2023 22:10

Nope not by a long way. I dont think my kids are even the favourite grandchildren and they dont have any others.

LucyGru · 31/07/2023 22:10

God, no. That honour goes to my little brother.

They always claimed to love us all the same, they just like him more.

Sorry but that made me laugh!

How do you feel about it?

Absolutely not which is very awkward considering I'm an only child.

I was just thinking that I'm not even their 3rd favourite. And they have 3 children.

Dacadactyl · 31/07/2023 22:13

I think I'm my mums favourite child and I think my sister is my dad's favourite child.

However, I have a complicated relationship with my mum and we are alike in some ways (and poles apart in others) I think she likes that I'm headstrong, but also hates it.

NancyJoan · 31/07/2023 22:13

Yes. One of the perks of being an only. My DH’s siblings insist he is/was their mum’s favourite, but it doesn’t look like that to me!

Hawkins009 · 31/07/2023 22:14

Personally I'm not sure,

Genuinely, I’m sorry if this question has made people feel bad about their circumstances.

I’m one of 4.

Neither the eldest, or the youngest, and not the only boy so I’m just a spare 😬

Funny how I am the go-to for anything that needs sorting out though.
It’s shit, but there it is.

I’m not the favourite - that goes to firstborn son of course.

But I am the best one. As in the only useful one.

2chocolateoranges · 31/07/2023 22:20

I would say I am.

my sibling is an alcoholic and is selfish and manipulative. My mum doesn’t hear from them unless they are wanting money… which she now doesn’t give so she doesn’t hear from them very often.

i make an effort, I phone every day to speak to her, I care about her and what she is doing and make an effort with her. she is included in our family life and is involved with her grandchildren too.

BrightLightTonight · 31/07/2023 22:21

Depends - when my dad was alive, my brother was golden balls - couldn’t do anything wrong. However, since then, his true colours have shone through and I am now favoured

BorneoBound · 31/07/2023 22:21

I think I'm my dad's favourite. My mum's favourite is either my dog or my husband! She has three biological children but she puts my husband on a pedestal and he can do no wrong. She isn't like that with my siblings partners either, he's just super special 🙄

CatandSpoon · 31/07/2023 22:22

I think I was my dad's favourite (he's now dead)
Definitely not my mum's favourite

sunshineandshowers40 · 31/07/2023 22:23

I'm not the favourite, in my opinion my sister is my dad's fave (youngest child) and my brother is my mum's (only boy) I would be interested to see if they agreed with me.
