Tacky wedding anniversary celebrations? I ordered a floral crown ...too much ?

It's mine and my husband's first anniversary on Thursday.
We are going to the pubs in town with his son and girlfriend and a few of their friends.
We are both 39 and his son is 20 so hopefully we don't feel too ancient.
I've ordered a floral crown to wear and a sash which says "1st wedding anniversary-congratulations"
I've ordered some party poppers too for the pub celebration.
I'm not sure if it's too much or tacky?
I didn't think it was but when I told a friend she laughed.
I've changed my profile pic on Facebook to us on wedding day and he has just done the same (think I followed my lead ) ha ha
Will people think it's ott?

Horrendous.

I would think you were wearing it for a bet/dare or were feeble minded.

Olika · 31/07/2023 11:16

Too weird but if it makes you happy then go for it.

beAsensible1 · 31/07/2023 11:16

Just do what you want OP.
We have one life, live it as you wish :)

TheFireflies · 31/07/2023 11:18

Don’t forget your balloon arch

Tidsleytiddy · 31/07/2023 11:18

Tacky. I was cringing reading the post.

PurpleChrayne · 31/07/2023 11:18

Cringe.

Wexone · 31/07/2023 11:20

Sweet lord. I have just celebrated my own 1st anniversary and no way did any of that. we went back to the hotel we got married in stayed in a nice room had a fabulous dinner and drank wine. the only way you would have known it was our anniversary was the bottle of champagne we got complimentary of the hotel and nice flowers in our room. why on earth do you want to wear a crown and sash? it's not a miss world competition 🙈🙈

Yellowflower47 · 31/07/2023 11:21

Happy first wedding anniversary!

It’s my first wedding anniversary in two weeks, so I do understand the excitement, but I’ll be honest and say I don’t understand the crown and sash part of the celebration? It looks maybe a bit beggy, like you’re hoping you get free drinks whilst out?

KPops22 · 31/07/2023 11:22

I've seen a load of stuff in my life but this is a new made up one on me 😂

Feverly · 31/07/2023 11:22

What is ‘the party horn’? Why would you wear a sash congratulating yourself on having a husband?

ChampagneBlossom44 · 31/07/2023 11:24

It wouldn’t be for me, but it’s fun & it’s cute. I hope you have a lovely time!

Blarn · 31/07/2023 11:25

I have two questions:
party horn?
And,
Party horn?

Pottyberry · 31/07/2023 11:25

Why not?! Plenty to be miserable about at the moment, if you fancy celebrating like this do it. Happy Anniversary

whynotwhatknot · 31/07/2023 11:25

Catsfrontbum · 31/07/2023 11:26

Which pub? What time?

this is batshit crazy territory for me and I think my children would cringe themselves inside out but you do you honey!

Steve Coogan Shrug GIF

Right.

ihadamarveloustime · 31/07/2023 11:26

Wear the haku lei.

Ditch the sash.

Have a lovely evening out.

WandaWonder · 31/07/2023 11:27

If it was just you and your husband sure go for it but I don't see the reason to do it with the son and his gf unless they are in in it and happy to have it

GoodnightJude1 · 31/07/2023 11:27

Hmmm…..I wouldn’t but you do what makes you happy.

It falls in to the same ‘cringe bracket’ for me as gender reveal parties and valentines cards for your grandad 😬

LuckySantangelo35 · 31/07/2023 11:29

CRINGE

Branleuse · 31/07/2023 11:29

I think its fine for a private party, but would be unusual for a pub thing

MaggieBsBoat · 31/07/2023 11:30

live your bliss OP. What makes me happy is that you have a soul mate who feels the same way about doing things like this. This is rare. Enjoy!

it doesn’t matter what the rest of us think!
But WTH is a party horn???
