Tacky wedding anniversary celebrations? I ordered a floral crown ...too much ?

It's mine and my husband's first anniversary on Thursday.
We are going to the pubs in town with his son and girlfriend and a few of their friends.
We are both 39 and his son is 20 so hopefully we don't feel too ancient.
I've ordered a floral crown to wear and a sash which says "1st wedding anniversary-congratulations"
I've ordered some party poppers too for the pub celebration.
I'm not sure if it's too much or tacky?
I didn't think it was but when I told a friend she laughed.
I've changed my profile pic on Facebook to us on wedding day and he has just done the same (think I followed my lead ) ha ha
Will people think it's ott?

The party horn sounds potentially annoying to your neighbouring tables too - even if you mean one of these rather than a hollow cone shaped horn.

I'm cringing for you OP! Nobody celebrates their one year anniversary in the manner of a cheap Blackpool Hen Party! It's beyond awful!

I would think you to be someone annoyed that the focus had been off you since your wedding day and was determined to be the centre of attention once again.

It’s too much. Sorry. A first wedding anniversary is not a big deal. People are going to think it’s odd. And likely intrusive. No one likes paper horns.

Very self indulgent and embarrassing. Nobody cares about anyone else's wedding anniversary...and certainly not the first one.

I think it’s cute. If I were in a bitchy mood I might roll my eyes if I saw someone doing this but it would only be my own mood/jealousy.

If you were 22 I think it would be quite fun. But age 39 celebrating one year of marriage with your 20 year old stepson whilst wearing a sash and crown is tacky.

I wouldn't go out in it myself, I didn't even know they did stuff like hat for a 1st anniversary. Could you just wear the sash and crown in private with your husband?

I’m bored so I’ve just googled 1st wedding anniversary sash and unsurprisingly they are not popular items so you would have had to have had it made which makes it even cringier

Of course it is tacky and over the top. But if it makes you laugh and fun, then who cares?? Go out and enjoy yourself in your sash and crown and ignore the miseries.

Whatever! Weird thing to ask opinions on when you must know that plenty of people will think it's tacky and plenty think it's funny. I don't believe you were surprised when your friend said it was tacky.

It's the same when people dress up stupidly for festivals. It's obviously 'tacky' and ott but no one cares.
