Tacky wedding anniversary celebrations? I ordered a floral crown ...too much ?

It's mine and my husband's first anniversary on Thursday.
We are going to the pubs in town with his son and girlfriend and a few of their friends.
We are both 39 and his son is 20 so hopefully we don't feel too ancient.
I've ordered a floral crown to wear and a sash which says "1st wedding anniversary-congratulations"
I've ordered some party poppers too for the pub celebration.
I'm not sure if it's too much or tacky?
I didn't think it was but when I told a friend she laughed.
I've changed my profile pic on Facebook to us on wedding day and he has just done the same (think I followed my lead ) ha ha
Will people think it's ott?

An anniversary party horn is standard.

"you cant pop outside as they can kill birds"

🤣🤣🤣

It’s very hen night like, I’ve never heard of a sash or crown for an anniversary. It is OTT and cringe to me. In the nicest way, it’s a year, that’s not the biggest achievement.
But you do and enjoy it, it’s your day to celebrate as you please.

You do you.

(Yes, it's over the top and a bit protesting too much - but if you have a rhino hide go for it)

How sweet.

cruffinsmuffin · 31/07/2023 10:05

You'll need much more than that - can you book a horse and carriage for between pubs?

I hope you're planning on wearing your wedding dress. Will your SS dress as a page boy to announce you into the pubs?

I didn't find the love of my life till I was 42 got married at 45 and 15 years later I still put my tiara on each anniversary. You do you stuff the naysayers I'd buy you a drink if I saw you.

toomuchlaundry · 31/07/2023 10:08

Why are you going out with your stepson's friends rather than your own friends?

I mean this genuinely. I'm fairly new here but what does this mean?

You don't believe the OP is real? Or you think there's lots of trolls commenting?

@collectorsedition surely if you were going to make up a thread you could come up with something more interesting than this 😂

sowhatimstillarockstar · 31/07/2023 10:12

Why would I make up a post about a crown and a sash?
I'm guessing a lot of you think it's cringe
I just thought it would be fun

A bit attention seeking, but if you're happy with it, go ahead.

An easy way to stir things up.

Chickenpie35 · 31/07/2023 10:15

Too much tbh
Especially going out with another couple, even worse that it's song and partner.

Your anniversary is for you two. By all means go out with other people if that's what you want but I can honestly say I've never seen that crown and sash behaviour for 1st wedding anniversary. (Or inviting other people unless it's a big year like 10 / 20)

toomuchlaundry · 31/07/2023 10:15

Most people have a romantic meal to celebrate a wedding anniversary, not go out with their son's mates, I find that as strange as wanting to wear a sash and a crown.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 31/07/2023 10:17

It’s a little ott. Maybe keep it to the bedroom instead!?
